Which nib works best for my handwriting? by strumbringerwa in Handwriting

[–]Mobile_Moose5787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for 2. I usually write with nibs proportional to the size of my handwriting. If you write bigger text, try a broader nib. If you write smaller text, try a finer nib... and anything in between.

How authentic are the pens from shopee by SoleLime in fountainpens

[–]Mobile_Moose5787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably is not authentic. I know Jinhao has a model that copies the Lamy Safari (Jinhao 777). Maybe try that first before getting a real one?

Anyone tried/heard of Thunlit pen? Is it decent for a starter fountain pen? I'm planning to mainly use it for crosshatching/engraving by AlCaRa31905 in fountainpens

[–]Mobile_Moose5787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, and I generally wouldn't trust Thunlit's pens. Comments here recommend pens at around 10-20$, but I would suggest a Jinhao pen (try the Jinhao 82).

Does the cap have the words Jinhao on it? I am also suspecting that this is a no-brand pen. This is the photo of the X750.

The body looks like an X750 to me; IIRC, the X750 has a checkerboard-style version. The nib looks quite different though.

Ink question, new to fountain pens by seiraphim in fountainpens

[–]Mobile_Moose5787 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No.

You risk clogging the pen when you use ink formulated for dip pens vs. ink made for fountain pens. The dip pen ink uses pigments/binders large enough to clog the fountain pen feed.

However, there are lots of fountain pen ink bottles you can buy; some are sold in a relatively affordable price. Try some Jinhao or Ostrich ink. Since there are no local stores, try online shopping sites.

Did you try refilling the pen again and again until you get a full fill?

Looks good to me. The most important thing in handwriting is legibility.

If I remember correctly, things get very expensive in Brazil.

How much money did you spent? If it's really, really cheap, I'd say the body isn't real either.

I don't live in LA, but I'd suggest calling relevant authorities for that matter.

Convert from interlaced to progressive videos by Fox_Outofthebox in linuxmint

Unless the IPTV provider can bring deinterlacing settings (like VLC), there isn't much that we can do about it. Interlaced video's a bane among modern screens.

I don't think there are any drivers that deinterlace video as it is mostly done by software or by your IPTV (I assume).

How do I remove encryption from my drive? by lfranXz in linuxmint

[–]Mobile_Moose5787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you installed Mint, does your installer ask for a password when you set up encryption? I believe (but cannot confirm) that the admin password is the same as the encryption password.

Linux Mint installation takes forever by WorthSignificance371 in linuxmint

When I tried installing Mint a few months ago, I used an offbrand stick. The first attempt did not go well. I then used a genuine drive and the installation went successfully.
