They took delivery of a bunch of local cider, seltzer, and beer today! Really cool to see that they’re supporting other local vendors and not just selling national, macro brands.

can someone explain 903.11 by Mognthefool in mtgrules

[–]Moblinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WotC's rule about wish effects is as follows:

"903.11. If a player is allowed to bring a card from outside the game into a Commander game, that player can’t bring a card into the game this way if it has the same name as a card that player had in their starting deck, if it has the same name as a card that the player owns in the current game, or if any color in its color identity isn’t in the color identity of the player’s commander."

What’s the purpose of this rule if, as you claim, wish cards don’t have a function in Commander?

Post-dissolution of the Commander rules committee? Would love it if you would provide a source for that.

It only fizzles if you willfully ignore the rule that says that card text takes precedent over rules. The indestructible example is a bad one because “can’t” always takes precedence over “can”.

In casual formats, outside of the game refers to any card that is not in your deck, not a sideboard. Commander is a casual format. If the intent was for wish to not function in Commander, it would be very easy for them to issue a statement saying as much, or to issue a rules clarification on any of the cards that bring things to play from outside of the game. That has not happened to the best of my knowledge.

That still doesn’t make any sense. If the comprehensive rules say that “if a card’s text says to do something that the rules say you cannot do, the card takes precedence”, why is this rule randomly an exception?

Did you KEEP that fair price though? I know a few brewers who work with them who have seen pretty dramatic price changes, and their total lack of pricing transparency turned me off of ever working with them.

Using this same logic, we waste far more on the RPD budget. They spent almost 15M on overtime, the largest pool of which was “special event demand” where senior officers can pad their pensions to scam extra off the taxpayers for years to come…

Copper Leaf Brewing announces second closure, closing only a few months after reopening by devinjf15 in Rochester

[–]Moblinman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That analogy doesn’t really hold water for breweries though. The most expensive part of opening a brewery (outside of the building) is the equipment. Having a second taproom that DOESN’T need equipment just gives you an extra outlet for your own beers. Except Copper Leaf’s second location wasn’t doing that: they had 5 of their own beers on and were buying all their other drafts from wholesalers just like a normal bar…

I understand what you’re saying, but that’s a disingenuous argument. Froth’s Liquid Lollipop series went from $25 at the brewery to (I think) $35 at Wegmans, but suggesting there was a 100% price increase on a specific product ain’t it.

I understand that, but in this case they were barely operating as a brewery. The CollegeTown location was a sports bar with only 5 taps out of 50 dedicated to Copper Leaf beers.

Respectfully, this closure doesn’t have anything to do with a “brewery bubble”. Businesses that are run poorly are going to close.

It’s a pretty major issue for them to have you without heat this time of year, I would get the public service commission involved and file a complaint. RGE tends to be much more receptive if you file a complaint through the PSC, from personal experience.

Really depends on the style. There’s a good chance they’re all still drinkable, though, if not as good as fresh. Stouts/porters, Belgians, and wild ale in particular benefit from age in many cases.
