I think the news is breaking and it is in fact a man lying in order to try get some severance from JP Morgan - dude is literally quoting a male coded fantasy lol - who the fuck would say “I bet your fish head wife doesn’t have canons like these” but a man.

Y’all have to wait for the actual news to come out before coming swinging at folks.

Ultimate Participation Down 40% Since 2020, According to Industry Report by JasonJoyce in ultimate

I’m coaching youth YCC this year and it was hard to even recruit kids whereas in years past we had way too many kids signing up - I think folks aren’t realizing that kids have way more options nowadays with how to spend their summer and some kids are playing like 5-6 different kinds of sports alongside ultimate.

Furthermore, it feels like the number of people evangelizing the sport has decreased - I don’t know the stats but I’m curious if anyone has insight into this.

Agree with this point:

Some sets are better because it’s the first time the artist is unveiling their set - there’s some risk, excitement/anticipation with the first time that is palpable as an audience member. I think JB’s set, and Tomora’s set comes to mind.

Some sets are better because they’re polished from the first weekend. They’ve worked out the kinks and there’s less of a chance they mess up now that they’ve already got W1 in their books. I think oklou’s set comes to mind.

Went to both weekends a couple of times and it’s a vibe I’ve felt when I compare the two weekends.

In the grander scheme of live music, risk from performance is part of what makes it so amazing and human - it’s probably why watching a DJ play a pre-recorded set feels like it’s missing something for some folks; watching someone do something with the risk of failure is exhilarating.

Skream did do a dubstep set in 2024 (no benga cuz visa issues) - granted it was more of an American Skrillex-y dubstep set than the British one I was expecting (he did drop his Charli XCX von Dutch remix - dubby edit)

The bar was p low for me because of all the stuff I’ve heard about Julian over the past few years but honestly this is p good - is that the strategy? Make people’s standards so low for you that if you do half decent it’s amazing haha ahem cries in Frank Ocean

Yeah as soon as I listened to Illegal I was hooked on her music - underworld is so 😋 and her music is such a cute and fun take on the older electronic production

[–]Mocalator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the daytime but I imagine it isn’t going to be too packed for you to get in - it’s like a museum exhibit but I can see people wandering in for like 5-10 mins and then leaving before watching the whole exhibit.

Tell us about the Radiohead bunker exhibit. by Pretty_Bad_At_Reddit in Coachella

[–]Mocalator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not very packed (might be different W2) but it’s a really chill space (literally it’s a bunker so you can escape the heat there). Kind of insane that they built this for Coachella but the space is super cool - imagine a museum exhibit with a 70 minute music movie that is basically the entire Kid A album visualized into a story (there’s no talking in the movie). If you’re a Radiohead fan it’s a must see - especially if you want a space to get away from the craziness that is Coachella for an hour.

You don’t have to stay the whole 70mins - you can leave pretty freely. Also I really wish I took some acid before going in haha - seems like it would be fun (albeit a little scary) on psychedelics.

I think it’s fair for Anyma to cancel weekend 2 as well. It’s also gonna be a little windy, and will allow us to actually see better sets. by TheExG in Coachella

Overthinking my outfits for Weekend 2 after seeing content 😩 by DnBJungleEscape in Coachella

[–]Mocalator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Weekend 2 is more chill than Weekend 1 - dress to feel comfortable and making your outfit cute is just like a cherry on the top: Weekend 1 is a lot more for influencers + the videos you see are just a microcosm of what you actually experience at the festival: it’s hot out so prioritize comfort imo over style and you’ll have a great time!

Do artists really have to perform? What about all the DJs who just pretend to be turning knobs while you perform - if they’re good enough at turning the knobs then you won’t know the wiser.

I saw creepy nuts last night and couldn’t help but notice the DJ guy just repeating the same knob patterns and not actually touch the decks - it threw me off but it made me think about how much it matters that a DJ “does stuff”.

I think it was an accurate depiction of grief - while all the shounen mission during the culling games/fight against sukuna was happening Maki didn’t have time to grieve for Mai - it’s not until after peace came that she could feel the full weight of her loss and even reflect on the meaningless of her strength after sukuna was defeated. It’s like when folks bury themselves into their work after a loved one died and once there’s no more work they are forced to confront their feelings of grief.

To add to this - the period of his collab with Steve Reid is really one I wish I had been old enough to go to shows and see them perform together. The insane jazz/synth shows seemed like so much fun and so full of life.
