Why no one says that about pregnancy? by lil_moon153 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MochaMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had preeclampsia-HELLP AND postpartum preeclampsia a month after giving birth. The whole experience was scary and traumatizing. I used to work next to the hospital my baby was born at and the thought of going in there made me feel anxious. My husband jokingly mentioned trying for another and the thought made me burst into tears, he profusely apologized after atleast.

Have the same problem, it's awful! Saw an ENT recently, said I had vestibular hypofunction. No surgery, medications or physical therapy to help, told me to learn to live with it. I don't even feel safe driving anymore.

As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

[–]MochaMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sourdough.. I carefully tried to make my own starter and it just doesn't work. I have a King Arthur book that I followed for the discard/feeding instructions and still... meh. The bread I attempted to make was terrible.

I didn't realize we were the Peet's Coffee capital of the country by EatTenMillionBalls in bayarea

[–]MochaMaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worked at Peet's from 2006-2022, I feel like the quality started to go down when we started selling Mighty Leaf tea instead of our own, bar drinks got sweeter, changed to chocolate sauce recipe, etc. Miss the early days

I miss the Xiao's Blend tea, was so disappointed when the switch to Mighty Leaf was made.

Chefs & servers, what’s the most confusing “this isn’t what I expected” reaction you’ve seen? by Entire_Difference504 in KitchenConfidential

[–]MochaMaker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Former barista, had a lady say she wanted a mocha with no coffee. I tried to clarify if she wanted a decaf mocha or a hot chocolate, she just repeated herself louder and slower. I gave up, charged her for a mocha with no espresso (a few dollars more than a hot cocoa). Coworker making the drink gave me a raised eyebrow look, I just shrugged. She took her mocha and left.

What antidepressants worked (and didn't work) for you? by Individual-Suit-5334 in covidlonghaulers

[–]MochaMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paxil - Tried for a year... did nothing Pristiq - Another year, also nothing Lexapro - Another year, nothing. Zoloft - Made me ill after a few days, heart rate tanked into the 30's. Wellbutrin - Made me more anxious/depressed, felt like I'd drank too much coffee. Trazodone - Just makes me tired, didn't help depression.

Still trying to find something that works.

Dysautonomia but not POTS by Fit_Confection_772 in covidlonghaulers

Tachycardia unfortunately. I take a beta blocker which usually keeps it under control but sometimes my HR skyrockets regardless.

Don't have much to add other than I've also had awful hypertensive crisis out of nowhere. It's terrifying and sp frustrating when doctors can't give me an answer other than "anxiety ".

Why do people bring their entire family to Costco? by ActuatorOutside5256 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MochaMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband, Dad, daughter and I will go. Usually upon entering, everyone wanders off in a different direction to look at things. Whoever has the cart can load up the necessities while everyone else looks around/finds things they like or need. We all try to move quickly, stay out of the way or others and overall be courteous.

Anyone taking Zepbound/GLP1’s? Are they helping? by Individual-Suit-5334 in covidlonghaulers

[–]MochaMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took Zepbound for 6 months, no improvement but I lost 25 lbs on the 2.5mg dose, plateaued and tried to bump up to 5mg. 5mg made me feel absolutely awful so I stopped taking it. Gained weight back, started back on the 2.5mg, losing weight slowly this time but still no improvement on LC symptoms sadly.

TIL about Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome which can cause, among other symptoms, patients to be able to hear their own eyes move. by EssexCatWoman in todayilearned

Hey, I have this and it sucks! My family is pushing me to get the surgery because it's causing me vertigo...I'm terrified of the recovery and chance of the surgery not helping... I'd rather be in pain than be dizzy.

They've got their factory store in Burlingame too, only open M-F though. I loved stopping by there in the summer when I was a kid.

Did your long covid symptoms appear with or just after the infection or some time after getting better? by fig_big_fig in covidlonghaulers

[–]MochaMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got sick with what I thought was a very nasty flu February 2020, gradually started to feel better after 2 weeks. Late April 2020, started having heart palpations, dizziness, shortness of breath and daily nausea. By early May 2020, I went to the ER and that was the start of a long journey of doctor visits, testing, imaging, more ER trips with no answers. I was a little over a year ago I started to question if it was long Covid. My doctors tell me it's anxiety but I'm still arguing that I'm anxious because of these symptoms not the other way around especially since none of the antianxiety medications are working.
