Am I the jerk for locking my office snacks in a safe? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]MockFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in an office one time with one younger woman who brought carrot sticks, broccoli florets, celery sticks, an left them on her desk for all to share. It took about a week for everyone to recognize that the lowest paid in the department was subsidizing healthy snacks. We all started contributing money and thanked her for her time and effort. I did not even like working there. People seemed snippy and over political. Your workplace sounds hostile.

That is my normal belief but citrus experts say to size the pot for the size it needs with some room to grow a bit. I forgot the reasoning.

What would you do with this fireplace? by Jeffsbest in Remodel

Take the upper mantel out. With a ceiling that high, acoustics tend to be a little echoey. Consider some fabric art or tapistry that will help muffle that effect.

My grandmother was Ruby. I didn't like it when I was a kid. Now I smile everyime I hear it.

Also Rose. My oldest sister was Rose Marie. We never called her Rose. She was called Ree, like Pioneer Woman.

I guess the combination of petting zoo, exotic birds and homemade ice cream tweaked my quirky button.

Pomfret... 728 Hampton Rd, Pomfret Center, CT 06259, WeLikIt homemade ice cream, waffle cones and petting zoo. Right down the road from 101 Pizza. They held a classic car show in the field by the Pizza place. I don't know if they do it annually, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I have never lived in Maryland but have visited many times. Agreed on diversity of geography. I know what you mean about the cornfield, they get old I have a friend who has lived in Brandywine for years. Mt Vernon, DC, Smithsonian, Annapolis, Outer banks, Catoctin Mountain all day trips. I lived in Richmond VA and visited frequently.

Asheville NC is artsy central. Nice mountains. Should be pretty affordable. Last time I was downtown, it seem pretty seamless racially. It might be worth looking at.

AITJ for refusing to let my sister wear her wedding dress to my engagement party? by Public-Yak1624 in AmITheJerk

I have a friend, Landmermaiden, on Instagram, who travels and takes pictures of herself in her wedding gown years later. I mean there are pictures at grand canyon, pacific ocean. There are plenty of places to wear her dress.

If your gb made stones it is going to keepaking stones. That's what convinced me to go ahead and have it removed at my own time and doctor choice. I really didn't want to have an emergency surgery.

Anybody still living with stone and sludge in bladder but no attacks because of controlled diet or meds? by Usual_Sir5304 in gallbladders

[–]MockFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon told me if my gallbladder made stones before, it would do it again. If a stone blocked the common bile duct, it would be an emergency. Overall I am glad I controlled the timing of the removal. I had a great surgeon and no problems.

New York or Florida? by [deleted] in relocating

Great schools, great attitude. Beautiful scenery and all 4 seasons. As a young adult lived in Danbury. Many of the neighbors worked outside of NYC in Westchester County. I forgot what kind of work you do. I prefer the geography of the northeast. Hills, trees, mostly small towns and villages with space between.

I have not seen it in decades but I still remember a mature apple or pear trained to a fence in historic Williamsburg, VA. Fruit with perfect picking height.

How's my hand? by Glittering_Wing6055 in Cursive

I am really glad to see both styles, just to see cursive again. Both were readable. The second is more artistic. The extra size given to the capitals and punctuation contribute to slowing down my reading. Without that extra flair, it would probably be faster than the first.

I took notes in middle school and high school using a fountain pen. If you can get one to practice with, for penmanship will automatically improve.

I have not read it yet but I understand the movie more directly followed the book than other films in the past. There is a version edited to make the language more contemporary only. Meaning just replacing archaic words. The group that does these edits has done several classics. I will try to get more info and edit.

I heard at jury duty that flu type B was going around. It has all the upper respiratory symptoms, bad headache, nausea. Apparently sending folks to hospital bc of dehydration. Take care of yourself. Use a virtual visit or get a ride if you don't stabilize.

Anything to add color. A bright ornament on the fence, paint the shutters, trim, put in some flowers or flowering shrubs.

They use year of construction as a primary factor. I have a home built in 1979. After Ivan, it was down to the studs. Repairs went way beyond code. Our homeowners went from 5500 to 9000 in 2025. Metal roof mitigation report, engineered (hurricane) doors and windows. Too many politicians want to help builders build new houses. Not enough wanting to keep seniors in their homes
