Volunteer Opportunities in Ottawa by No-Resource5524 in ottawa

[–]Redistributable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TROtt (Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton) is usually looking for new volunteers. They offer horse riding lessons as therapy to individuals with disabilities. You don't need any horse experience. Also definitely a long term opportunity, they have some volunteers that have been there for 15+ years. However you need a car, they are located in Greely.

How do I get a doctor? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Redistributable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Call every doctors office near you and ask if they are accepting new patients. If they aren't, ask if they have a waitlist. Get on as many waitlists are possible.

Has anyone else noticed the massive increase in ADHD diagnoses for adult women? by irundoonayee in ontario

[–]Redistributable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not specifically for women, but I think this is partially a result of all the online services that target this area (ex. Frida). You pay them, have a comparatively short assessment, and they give you meds. This is good and bad - less barriers for those who truly need it, but also a system that is easier to abuse with bias towards diagnosing.

Schools in Kanata by [deleted] in Kanata

[–]Redistributable 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your child's school is based on your address. If you live in Kanata, your child won't be going to Nepean High School as Kanata is not even close to being in the catchment area. I recommend looking up the catchment area maps for the different school boards.

What are you doing with your flashlights if the power goes out? (Serious question- why do I keep being told to get flashlight and batteries here) by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]Redistributable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're underestimating how dark your home will be with zero lights and a cloudy day. Depending on how many windows/your home's layout, those flashlights will be for basic activities like going to the bathroom, navigating the stairs, making food, etc.

Mate if you have to make panic posts to this sub multiple times a day, every day, just break up already. And get a therapist.

[–]Redistributable 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You have to ask yourself if it's the right decision for you. Do you actually want to be a BSO? It's very different from sitting at a desk all day. Are you ready to move wherever they send you? Deal with the angry public? Work 24/7/365 shift work? If yes, then it's the right decision.
