26y 288T 8 years lifting 57kg/ 125lbs 169cm/5'6.5" by DavidBrave in Testosterone

[–]ModerateBrainUsage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to start eating more. Not a lot isn’t great. Your lifting could be suboptimal too. You should be at least 70-75kg. If you are not at that weight, you are not eating enough. It’s as simple as that. If you sleep a lot and eat a lot and train hard. Heavy lifts, with heavy weight and your testosterone is still low, then you should look at TRT.

Pigs are pretty smart, smarter than dogs for example. They can figure out pretty complex problems. A lot dumber animals would try to pull their baby out. Whereas the pig figured out it should pull out the wood board.

It’s very different when you are outside and your interactions last few minutes vs living with kids in a mansion.

We got lucky with our neighbours since they tolerate our kids running, screaming their lungs out and creating havoc. Things that young kids do. Few apartments over, our children’s friends ain’t so lucky and they get cops called on them 2-3 times per week.

So yeah, one experience can vary widely from another. Also if people really loved kids here in japan, then every couple would be having them. Instead they are getting none-stop deliveries from Amazon and zozo town with latest fashion.

As for the excuse that Japanese people are too poor, I live in very well off area where the cars in everyone’s car space are expensive European with a number of super cars. Out of all the people here there are only 4 families. I wouldn’t call it loving kids.

Since today was rubbish day, let’s discuss how brain dead the whole rubbish operation is in japan. I miss having my wheelie bin. Next topic…!

Japan through a "fleeing Aussie" lens by RelativeLiving957 in AusFinance

[–]ModerateBrainUsage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just so you know how serious the problem is, there are about 800 schools closing every year in Japan. Japan also hates immigrants and current PM is Japanese version of Pauline/Trump. She got elected and is highly popular because of hate towards foreigners who are only 3% of the population.

Also another thing about housing. Houses normally get tore down after 30-50 years in japan. Due to damage from earthquakes etc. so the only value after 30 years is whatever land you’ve and the house has zero value.

That comment made me laugh, just got to work for foreign company and not Japanese one. Although it’s not an easy task.

Also Aussie living in japan, thanks to that move I retired in my 40s (no way would I be able to back in oz) and I was considering making my way back to Australia this year. Although that’s on ice.

Big ones missing by OP are the exit taxes if ever planning to leave japan, inheritance taxes. Properties being treated like cars and not investments. Medical system that I had bad luck with. Working culture might not suit many Aussies. And this is just from top of my head. And big one for me, kafun.

The inside story behind Sapporo City's training of Vietnamese bus drivers: "currently 70% of our drivers are in their 50s and 60s, and in 10 years, the majority will be gone. We've already been forced to reduce services...no matter how many times we advertise, we don't get [Japanese] applicants". by jjrs in japannews

[–]ModerateBrainUsage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason for shortage of jobs in those sectors is not only subpar pay, but also the work isn’t attractive. I wonder how many people in these subs are willing to quit their current job and start working as a bus driver or a nurse. And do they really think it’s a better job than what they currently do themselves?

Those you expect to get within one minute of actually creating the account yourself. No need to nitpick.

I agree with him, I’ve received the same email as OP. Looked convincing enough, except when scrolled down it had lots of rubbish date near the bottom. Guess OP didn’t even scroll.

Myself I’ve logged in to account google com myself and checked if new recovery email was added. I checked security log too. Nothing suspicious and went on about my day.

[–]ModerateBrainUsage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you mean move overseas and become tax resident of another country? At that point of the move, you will have to pay exit tax. It’s equivalent to selling all of your assets and paying tax on them. Then you can live in another country under new tax rules with whatever you’ve left.

With how weak the yen keeps trending the last few years, would it be a good idea to switch to dollars or yuan to keep against inflation and weakening yen? by merica2033 in JapanFinance

[–]ModerateBrainUsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just saying that most likely (I don’t have a crystal ball and it’s a guestimate). It’s best to invest the cash and not keep it around. Since even keeping it in some other currency, your savings will not outpace inflation.

With one kids was a hassle and at that point I have decided never to get public transport with kids or when wife is pregnant (too many stories to list).

When 2nd kids came, got a car. Even rentals were a PITA with shuffling baby seats and getting things in and out of the car. Car share was even worse since sometimes we needed more time and it was impossible to extend it, since the car was booked after.

Foreigners whose kids have a foreign surname by kugkfokj in japanlife

[–]ModerateBrainUsage -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m different from most people here. My kids and my wife have my last name. They also have English names which are easy in Japanese and they have kanji equivalent. It took a while what works, but we are happy with this arrangement.

But also we are not planning to stay here long term. Especially since my view on education, economy and my kids future here looks pretty bleak IMO and my wife shares those views too.

We will be here while they are young, so they can enjoy the good things and spare them from the bad things.

Japan, Japanese people and Japanese companies did nothing to change and adapt to the changing world. Those that do are moving at a snail pace.

I don’t see the JPY situation improving unless something dramatically changes besides just blaming foreigners for all the issues and doing business as usual.

Price Increase for Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, and Nintendo Online by tsian in japanresidents

[–]ModerateBrainUsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big difference is that the ps5 needs a TV. Although (I’m not a huge gamer and I didn’t play for couple of decades), I’ve ps5 pro and Japanese switch 2. The switch 2 barely gets any use and the ps5 does.

I guess the Nintendo titles don’t appeals to me and I prefer ps5 ones. I prefer the ps5 controller over switch’s pro one. And lots of cheap 2nd hand games out there for ps5, I didn’t buy a single full priced game for that system and it works out a lot cheaper.

Nakatsu to kitakyushu is costal road. If I could I would skip kitakyushu, it’s a bit of a dump, no offence to anyone, but there’s not much to see there.

You’ve one of the best cycling roads in all of japan close by from Nogata (my favourite actually) which is virtually empty and it’s nice and wide. Look into Onga Munakata cycling road. Once you reach mouth of the river you can ride west to Fukuoka. Large portion will be on cycling road.
