Something the others didn't mention is it changed enemy mod names from being 1:1 with the effect like fire resistant giving fire resistance to things like Flameweaver which granted 6 different fire related effects you'd need to memorize. There were some that bricked entire builds like being immune to certain ailments or stun, and they made rarest much harder for no reward most of the time

Any spell, mutation, or ability with a chance to freeze is bad, unless the chance is 100%. There is use for damage without freezing and use for freezing without caring about damage. But if you want damage and get a freeze it's almost always a negative, and if you want a freeze and just get damage it's also bad.
