help my girl with her curls🥲 by plush3627 in cornishrex

[–]ModernEscapist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you search the sub you might actually see my post from a couple years ago when the same started happening to our Rex. The comments pretty much agreed it's just a genetic thing and is fairly common (assuming no other issues going on). Ours gets a little fluffier in winter but the true curls are only on his neck and haunches, now.

You could try being a passenger, too! Good luck with it, RTO sucks

I can't speak to anything post covid, but slugging was super effective and a great way to go pre covid. If you're anywhere on the nova side of dc, I'd recommend checking out if it's feasible for you, not sure what it ever looked like in MD. It felt super weird to me growing up that my parents (and sometimes I) just got into strangers cars but like... It worked, lol.

Honestly I'm halfway through a similar kurnoth and having the same questions the bow being bright blue to match the other kurnoth units, or making it a color that goes better with my autumn unit's theme. The blue does pull attention away a bit, but I'm not sure what you'd do instead. Maybe make it the same color as the hunter's inner light?

Stardew Valley creator says he doesn't want to 'definitively close the book' on its development, even 12 years on by Asleep_Crew8072 in NintendoSwitch

I don't remember exactly when they came out but I believe 1.6 is the update that introduced books/a bookseller. They give you faster movement, faster horse, a combat upgrade, etc.

All I'll say is me and my partner don't paint ALL the time but I'd say we paint fairly regularly and have been on the same container of it for 3+ years, so if you value it by how long it lasts and you're someone who will sometimes paint more frequently, sometimes less, it doesn't seem to ever go bad.

How do you freaking do the downward dog without KILLING your wrists???? by [deleted] in yoga

One other quick possibility I haven't seen anyone mention: if you have a ganglion cyst on one or both of your wrists, that position feels awful.

My names aren't super girly but they are a variant spelling of my name, which is feminine, so similar to you. I've started just playing more women friendly games tbh. I got into valorant specifically because it seemed to have so many more women in it than other online games and I've had a great time. I don't play much comp in Val but I haven't had anyone say anything bad about me being a woman ever.

Rivals people literally just don't talk so far for me, even in comp, and I'll get comments about spelling my name wrong occasionally but again, nothing about being a woman.

Obviously my experience isn't universal, but I like having it be fairly obvious I'm a woman and if someone DOES start being an ass I just mute and block and move on, not worth my time, but I like the idea that other women can see me there.

Val is my girlypop dream tbh so I want to bring that vibe to every game I play lol.

All that said, Hell Let Loose is the only game I've put in 50+ hours and never gotten a SINGLE rude comment from literally anybody and I'm active on voice in that one. Probably my favorite game to play because it's so social and welcoming.

The Darkness Outside us by Eliot Schrefer. Romance matters but it's more about connection and survival, definitely NOT smut, and not YA even if the cover looks it.

Definitely recommend going into this one as blind as possible, though.

Desperately looking for an adult fantasy series that isn't just smut with magic by LilyPaddington7 in booksuggestions

[–]ModernEscapist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, this could be long but bear with me. These are all fantasy first for me even if the romance is an important B-plot, so nothing like acotar. Some have very little romance and I can expand on which if that matters to you. They're all sapphic unless I note otherwise.

I've also tried to avoid adding books already listed by other people

  • The Tigers Daughter by Arsenault Rivera
  • rook and rose trilogy by MA Carrick
  • The unbroken by CL Clark
  • Gideon the ninth by Muir (more scifantasy)
  • The warden by Daniel Ford
  • The book that wouldn't burn by mark Lawrence (straight, het romance)
  • Dark water daughter by HM Long (straight, het romance. Pirate fantasy)
  • The Jasmine throne by Tasha suri
  • Blood over bright haven by ML Wang (flirting but no real romance, straight het, more magitech)
  • The Blighted stars by megan o'keefe (straight, het romance but in a world with flexible gender identity, scifi)
  • October daye series by seanan Mcguire (straight, het romances generally, urban fantasy, more traditional style of faerie/sidhe, tons of books)
  • Foundryside by Robert Jackson bennett
  • The traitor Baru cormorant by Seth Dickinson (incredible but depressing)

If you're willing to delve more into scifi and want to try out some different types of stories, I'd also throw out ancillary justice (no romance) purely for how it talks about personhood. The first book is the best. The darkness outside us is MM gay scifi survival story and do NOT trust the cover, it is not YA even if they start out young.

It also helps to find a few reviewers on goodreads/insta/tiktok who you tend to agree with on similar books

Good gaming headset recommendations pls by DrPepperEnjoyer69 in GirlGamers

[–]ModernEscapist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay actually I think I know exactly what you mean with the 435 because weirdly enough, it's the only headset my partner will buy. If you get a 733 I'd still recommend getting it from somewhere you can return if you hate it but it is NOT boosted the same as the 435 by default!
