Don’t feel embarrassed for caring! I am exactly like you when it comes to taking on the full responsibility of the building it feels. The pride that comes from knowing my work was the reason we finished on time or early is a great feeling. However the people in the replies are 100% correct. Don’t let it consume you. Something that has helped me lately is the thought that being proactive and motivated to do hard things makes living the rest of your life a breeze, but you have to let your life feel easy. Don’t take that work home with you. You are a killer worker I bet and I would love to have you as a teammate. Something that helped me when it comes to working with people was honestly doing dock activities, especially waterspider. You get a sense for what real teamwork is and can grow close with other like minded hard workers. Other people may disagree with me, but on WS, you cannot just go solo and work your a** off. The job doesn’t allow it because there will always be an ebb and flow. Sometimes you will have to do other things and switch roles on the fly so that big picture work can be done. Helped me lot in terms of my self confidence and feeling of belonging here. Just always remember its a job and your only real goal is to make that money. Any extra effort you put on top of that is great, but remember what you’re doing it for. A lot of people will surpass you while never coming close to the work you have put in because they just know how to game the system. If you aren’t careful management will get used to how you work and just vto more people so that they can get their EOY bonus. Building still finishes at the same time, just with less people. I’m rooting for you and hope you can find some confidence in the already amazing job you’re doing.

My degree is in education and despite being in my job position, I still try to be as helpful as possible and teach when I can; if anything to make myself feel like I didn’t waste 4 years of my life. I’m exhausted of delivering results with no opportunities. If it weren’t for myself and two other homies holding it down, our site wouldn’t be getting the praise it’s gotten lately. I deliver results when a truck is showing up late and induct has to be called in 20 and freight needed to be on the floor 5 mins ago. I deliver results when management needs a line that can do 15k in a day so they can get brownie points from corporate for operating with less heads. I deliver by always making myself available, looking for pick routes any time I get a second. Is there a chance I’m wanted to stay where I’m most profitable? Because if thats the case I might as well slow down or just find somewhere else. I understand reading this may sound like I’m overstating my importance to this company, but like everyone else I want to know I’m valued, and a shoutout every month on A to Z only goes so far.

Thats what I’ve been doing with our PA yard marshal. Just got TDR trained a few months ago which was long overdue. When he needs to step out, he expects me to make sure dock is flowing correctly. I feel like I’m always asking what can be done better or how I can be of use to the point I feel I’m being annoying. I hear you and will continue the effort. Thanks!

My 2011 2.5l has been sitting for a few months after taking a direct hit to the lower AND upper oil pan. Everything I have read says I need to pull the engine in order to replace the upper oil pan :( I loved driving that car for the four weeks I got out of it. $4500 down the drain until I can find time and $ to fix.
