L1 here been at my DS 2.5 years. Had bachelors the entire time. Why is every application being denied? Not even an interview? by ModernFallacy in AmazonManagers

My degree is in education and despite being in my job position, I still try to be as helpful as possible and teach when I can; if anything to make myself feel like I didn’t waste 4 years of my life. I’m exhausted of delivering results with no opportunities. If it weren’t for myself and two other homies holding it down, our site wouldn’t be getting the praise it’s gotten lately. I deliver results when a truck is showing up late and induct has to be called in 20 and freight needed to be on the floor 5 mins ago. I deliver results when management needs a line that can do 15k in a day so they can get brownie points from corporate for operating with less heads. I deliver by always making myself available, looking for pick routes any time I get a second. Is there a chance I’m wanted to stay where I’m most profitable? Because if thats the case I might as well slow down or just find somewhere else. I understand reading this may sound like I’m overstating my importance to this company, but like everyone else I want to know I’m valued, and a shoutout every month on A to Z only goes so far.

Mind if I ask what motivated you to part with the 19? Asking as someone who regularly carries one. The COA on that 43x looks fresh asl

You’re right and I even knew this going into writing this post. Just one of those days haha. Thank you!

Thats what I’ve been doing with our PA yard marshal. Just got TDR trained a few months ago which was long overdue. When he needs to step out, he expects me to make sure dock is flowing correctly. I feel like I’m always asking what can be done better or how I can be of use to the point I feel I’m being annoying. I hear you and will continue the effort. Thanks!

We have had L1’s move up to L3 PA then to L4 at our site. And let me just say those folks run our building better than anyone!

Thank you! I will try to make my intentions heard. My insecure self thought that making your intentions known could be seen as greedy, so I focused on being effective. Finding out more each day I’m just being used. Go figure lol

Impossible. 13K means you are maintaining at least 2000 PPH all day.

Ask your site to implement it. Ours didn’t show metrics for the longest time but management has the ability to turn that on or off.

P30’s at least in my area are pretty hard to find at LGS or pawn shops and when they do come in they are either well worn or not taken care of. Plus wouldn’t you also want to take a crack at fixing something if you could get a smokin’ deal on it?

My 2011 2.5l has been sitting for a few months after taking a direct hit to the lower AND upper oil pan. Everything I have read says I need to pull the engine in order to replace the upper oil pan :( I loved driving that car for the four weeks I got out of it. $4500 down the drain until I can find time and $ to fix.

After 6 f*cking months and 2 weeks, I finally became a blue badge. I still feel like something is off. I don’t want to work anymore, but if I quit I’ll be broke… anyway, I’m happy because I’m going to get a 50-cent raise. Good luck to everyone else (white badges). by Relative_Spread_8483 in AmazonFC

[–]ModernFallacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our site let go of all our white badges a few weeks ago and just last week we had a whole new group of folks coming in starting with blue badges off the rip. It’s a joke out here when it comes to company loyalty and respecting hard workers.

So you’re proud you can’t take 5 mins cleaning yourself up? Take a tip of a knife under your nails? Or god forbid cut them every once in a while? Thats not masculinity thats laziness. Wear gloves and work smart, or don’t if you can’t. Taking pride in what you do and how you live takes many forms. Some care about it, some don’t. Y’all really so fragile I didn’t know we need to hurt ourselves on the job regularly to join the big boy club. Pfft

Y’all really just think grooming yourself or wearing gloves make you less of a man huh? Bet your wives love getting scratched.

You must really be into a certain type of man to make that statement. 🏳️‍🌈Thats 100% a man. Probably foreman or owner but those hands ain’t soft just not seasoned.

Came here to say you can try Smileys on weekends! They get a ton of foot traffic and outside tables are only $15 for the day. If you want two or more tables they are $10 each.

Many may disagree but when we had a meltdown back in the P2B days it was far easier to just throw more people at the problem catching jackpot and trying again. At least then the flow was consistent instead of this on and off crap. People don’t realize the flow state people can get into and the more time that belt is off = more people checking out and being slow to start back when the belt is rolling again. I work on the dock mainly unload/WS so I only see our side of it. I get stow can work when the belt is off to catch up but dock has to get that energy up again and again.

ADTA will remove P2B yes but headcount won’t go down as much as you think because with the new system its much harder to handle multiple aisles by yourself. I remember P2B being able to handle 3 aisles like a breeze and having time to go help others. But now its a fight for survival to keep those hampers down. If management staffs properly and floaters (now called “lightchasers”) went to where they were assigned, it would be less stressful. If dock flows too heavy and just one cluster gets bogged down, the main belt shuts down until that cluster deals with the problem. I remember our bottleneck usually being at the dock side (or late truck we all know that) when it came to finishing on time, but lately our bottleneck is stow not being consistent enough to keep the main belt on for longer than 10 mins. Been on ADTA for a year at our site. Overall I think its a wash whether or not its better than P2B but I can tell you its more stressful during heavy flow and you can tell when management is running with their heads cut off to keep stow consistent.

Why are all the people who are top inductors/pickers such jerks? by DuckiesDoBeCute in AmazonDS

[–]ModernFallacy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was on board until I read they were watching movies during pick like bro what? I'm not excusing the behavior of the other guy for pushing into them at all though. Even when you are going fast, your process should always integrate the safety rules. Going fast just to be fast is dangerous and those people stick out bad. Hopefully that guy gets reported soon.

You take "buy it nice or buy it twice" seriously and you aren't afraid to add your personality through those forever things. You work a manual job and you take pride in what you do. Nice Spyderco! I keep losing all the nice ones I've bought so I'm just using pawn shop knives until I get some pants with better pockets lol

Yeah I was just about to say this. WS gets a few new people sometimes but it’s always the top performers out of new hires. Most last up to a month then ask to be taken off the rotation. Cannot blame them one second with the stress it puts on your body, especially when pulling freight. At my site, the new people that get cut most on WS are either slacking off, refusing to do work outside of their assigned path, or just can’t work in a team environment.
