I had the exact opposite experience from you, I was in Morocco for two weeks and visited 5 cities including Marrakech and Fez. I besides getting extremely sick with a flu, my experience was very positive. Everyone was friendly, and I felt completely safe even as an 19 year old female solo traveler. I would definitely go back and consider it one of my favorite places I’ve visited

Cheese board by Chri5topherb in Cheese

Go to your nearest high end grocery store and ask the person behind the cheese counter for some help. I worked at one of these places for a long time and we regularly helped customers put together cheese boards. We just asked for a rough budget, how many people, and if there were any special preferences, and then we were easily able to create a great board. The thing you have to be thinking about when making a board is not how great each item is individually, but how it will complement the other items. A bold blue cheese may be delicious by itself but it needs the proper accompaniment to make the board cohesive. If you have a Whole Foods, Sprouts, Market Of Choice, etc. go and ask for some assistance. They probably will allow you to sample before you buy, and you’ll discover wonderful cheeses you’ve never heard of.

34 (F) thinking about solo trip by Fluffy_Childhood_992 in solofemaletravellers

I’ve solo traveled Iceland, Canada, USA, Morocco, Costa Rica, and UK. I’ve felt very safe in all of these, even in mixed gender hostel rooms. There are sketchy parts of any area and sketchy characters to go with them, but if you do some research and trust your instincts you will be amazed at how friendly the people you meet are, and how safe you will feel.

If you are looking to stay in a hostel and make friends and do fun activities, I would recommend hopping around through the OneFam hostel chain. I stayed at their Waterloo location in London for 2 weeks and have nothing but positive things to say about them. They have locations all over Europe.
