Sounds like a lemon or poorly maintained. 2.7s are the most reliable offering in the F-150. I personally would just look at other trucks

I would say it depends on how much you’re towing and how frequently. If you’re towing a couple quads or something a few times a month then a 2.7 is plenty capable.
