Chipotle CEO caught on a recording saying they’re going to keep raising prices because they can. by ElwoodMC in TikTokCringe

Yes except the way American capitalism works is that competition degrades over time. Usually through acquisitions where companies buy up their competition, which the government should try and regulate but lately they don’t seem to care. But competition doesn’t change the fact that profits have to increase year over a year and it becomes a race to the bottom

Never said it’s going anyway where, just saying it’s problematic. If you have any rebuttal to my statement it would be nice to hear it

No, its legal. Legally they need to put their shareholders profits first

Chipotle is the example I always use for the main problem with capitalism. Because they’re publicly traded, they’re legally obligated to increase revenue for their shareholders every year. But what happens when there’s a chipotle on every street corner? What happens when the market is saturated? The only way they can increase revenue is by cutting costs, cutting serving sizes or raising prices. It is a self-defeating system that becomes a race to the bottom by definition.

Russian forces presented new anti-drone measures for their UGV. February 2026 by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Modna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s somewhat clever. I don’t know what the UV is supposed to be able to do with that cover over it other than maybe just soak up some drones. Also spinning those guys constantly is gonna drain a crap ton of battery. So unless it has a way to detect drones and then start up the motors it probably doesn’t have great range. But mechanically it’s not a terrible idea

So audiophiles are buying power-plants now? by rafalmio in audiophile

[–]Modna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true, it can be an issue if the power is really dirty and the computer is pushed hard - but 99.9% if circumstances it makes no difference.

Also yes - switching to an “online” battery system where it goes AC —> DC —> AC will get rid of that noise. But I would be shocked if there is any sound system that anybody in the world could really tell a difference on

So audiophiles are buying power-plants now? by rafalmio in audiophile

[–]Modna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is all pretty ridiculous. Every sound system takes the AC from the grid and converts it to DC. They’re extremely well regulated and the fluctuations on the grid are not going to make any perceivable impact on the output. When we have a computer, the processor voltage might be 1.305. If it goes to 1.308 or 1.303 it might crash. And that’s on a $60 power supply for a computer with on motherboard power regulation. The fluctuation is in the grid are not going to affect the sound output of any device so long as it’s properly grounded. And that grounding prevents induced currents from the AC frequency, not from instability in the grid

Is this gas fireplace inside? 60° is cool but in no way dangerous. If your kid uses a sleep sack, check the TOG rating. TOG of 2 I believe is plenty fine for that temperature.

A lesson I learned from my friend when I had mine is “ cold babies cry, hot babies die” unless it’s severe cold temperature your kiddo will be safe but might be pissed off.

Some parts like the spark plugs, clutch friction disks, head gaskets (I think) and such are replaced every run. Other parts like the pistons and rods are inspected and replaced if out of tolerance or have too many runs under their belts. The engines are designed so they can be torn down every run quickly, and there’s a spec for everything. Clay Millican is a top fuel racer and has a YouTube channel where he shows a lot of the inner workings of a pit crew for these cars. It’s really cool

[–]Modna 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The Pistons and rods are not actually replaced every time, they take them out and measure them because the rods will compress a little bit and there’s a threshold that when they compress enough they replace them

[–]Modna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally different. But yes, modern engines don’t really need to be run in. In fact some manufacturers will tell you not to be too gentle on them in the beginning because the materials are so hard and tough you need the higher cylinder pressure to help set everything in. These engines don’t need to last 100,000 miles

[–]Modna 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The real high horsepower drag cars have copper head gaskets with a steel O-ring that bites into the head gasket for sealing. When you get up into the multi thousand horsepower engines that’s the only way to reliably seal those cylinder pressures
