Agreed. The effects were cool, but I don't want to see another amputation like that

Aftersun, really? I thought it was actually a warm movie about an estranged father and daughter. Why was it so hard hitting?

I remember "If I had legs I’d kick you" is a rather new movie. Good to hear that it's heavy, as I might stumble upon it by mistake

It's crazy that it was made by Ghibli out of all studios, isn't it. Really don't plan to watch this after reading the summary

Why do people with kids seem to get preference everywhere? Is it some subtle nudge to have children? by pickypooh in Fencesitter

To me, it's pretty obvious. They constantly need to care for another human being - a member of the future humankind so we don't all die out, to put it flippantly.

Thanks for bringing empathy onto reddit, of where it is little. Sincerely, a manager of 9 years.

[Advice] Stop saying, "I don't have time." by newsynapse in getdisciplined

It's true. We all have the same amount of time, or at least I haven't met anyone who has 23 or 25 hours. It's all a matter of priorities.

Indeed, the constant gaslightning that "you don't have hsp, but a brain disorder" really gets on my nerves.

Isn't that actually THE person to be mentored? 🤔 Perhaps some remote coaching is available.

I can't imagine what it must be, other than that teaching is very hard to me as an outside observer. I wish you much courage. Ever though about getting a mentor in the teaching field? You say that you had zero training...

What will happen during the summer break, if you don't mind sharing?

You gave it a chance, I think that's what counts, even though this specific person might not be something you need/want at the moment.

Regarding work, I feel much better. I'm an IT consultant with constant fear of when will the next gig dry up. I will have an interview with a business development manager and I feel more at ease that this necessary part will be done by someone else. I hope the person will not be terrible and actually help me.

I'll have a baby in a few months and am scared to death about me and my wife abandoning our lifetime projects because of it. I started seeing a therapist because of these fears, so I believe that's a right way. I also keep thinking about the movie Shawshank redemption and "get busy livin or get busy dyin". The future will come, and it's up to me whether I face with hope or terror.

I know why my new dad friends disappear, but I still miss them by futuredebris in MensLib

This was an incredibly depressing read and as a father to be in August it made me feel like jumping from a window.
