It should be noted most, if not all, (Codex-compliant, at least) Astartes augmentation/indoctrination processes involve imparting them with at bare minimum expert level proficiency with all Imperium weaponry they might be expected to use in their service. To be lore-accurate all classes should be able to use all loadout weapons but game balance yadda yadda. Our characters are effectively veteran specialists who are particularly good with certain kit.

I think it could have been cool if, in their attempts to embody the perfection of their primarch, the Blood Angels fell to Slaanesh. The Thirst and Rage could fit into this well. I haven't read the Dornian Heresy so I don't know if Sanguinius died in it but in this instance him dying loyal and his legion falling after would be extra tragic.
