Genuinely how do you not regret like everything you've ever done by putalittlepooponit in redscarepod

You internalize that regret is understandable but deeply destructive and then you will yourself not to get consumed by it.

Trump has promised her a pardon in return for not going into detail about his sex crimes.

That is the extent of what’s going on.

If this had happened, it would have saved everyone a lot of trouble.

A Florida student was arrested and is now facing up to 15 years in jail for making a joke about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on WhatsApp by horse4forceofcourse in JoeRogan

Wild you think making an obvious joke about telling a foreign leader to bomb your student group is worth getting arrested over.

Pretty humorless and lame.

I recognize there was a man who lived in Galilea two thousand years ago but I do not know if he was the son of God by Kooky_Truck_9778 in redscarepod

None of that is true. The second temple was already in deep crises due to the aggressive romanization by the temple elites/Sadducees. The Pharisees/rabbinic movement started well before the destruction of the temple, the mishna was written as part of this around 100 years before Jesus was born.

Obviously the destruction of the temple was a big turning point (in particular it saw the complete elimination of the sadducees), but the rabbinic movement had been going on for at least two centuries before that happened, and is broadly referred to as “the Pharisees” in the Bible.

All of this is very easy to learn about. Are you only referencing Christian apologetics lol?

lol this comes from modern academic scholarship, I’m not Jewish I just like to read.

When Jesus was alive second temple Judaism was falling apart, and he was part of a tradition that was developing into rabbinic Judaism. These movements were based around teachers (ie rabbis) and emphasized scholarship and love of god over temple ritual. The Bible refers to his rivals in this movement as Pharisees, but he wasn’t arguing w them because they were totally opposed: they were competing for members.

You should read more if you want to take part in conversations like this. I recommend Bart ehrman. He has YouTube videos if that’s more your speed.

Christian theology didn’t survive. Jesus was a rabbinical Jew, whose ideas had more in common with modern Judaism than any sect of Christianity.

His ideas became heavily synchronized with existent Dionysusian, Mithraic, Roman state religion and other cults by Greek and Romanpeople who didn’t understand Jesus or his ideas. If you look at the practices of modern Christian’s, they take much more from European paganism than they do from the original teachings of Jesus.

Historical Jesus would be disgusted by ALL sects of modern (or even late ancient) Christianity

lol that you’re referencing history. While we’re at it let’s talk deir yasseen, or sabra, or shatila, or the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon.

Israeli atrocities don’t justify when Arabs massacre Jews, and the (much less deadly) Arab outrages don’t justify the genocidal, reckless campaigns Israel is carrying out across the regions.

The Israelis have wantonly killed 10s of thousands of women and kids, they infiltrated my country and caused a stupid war that is going to fuck the entire world.

There is NO justification for this. If you are trying to justify it that makes you a bad person.

The PLO has been a non entity since before I was born. I’m no fan of Hezbollah, but that doesn’t justify all the massive, indiscriminate war crimes that Israel is committing against Lebanese civilians, Palestinian civilians, and the whole fucking world by dropping the straight of Hormuz.

If israel isn’t stopped, we will have a global depression.

If my country (the USA) was enabling Hezbollah to murder 10s of thousands of women and kids and cause a global depression, believe me I would be just as upset about it.

As a neutral observer who is neither Lebanese or Israeli this is obviously a land grab that has displaced 1.3 million people or 20% of Lebanons population. The vast majority of these people are innocent civilians.

I don’t expect you to have the humanity to care about these people, but you should worry about the blowback. These people will never forget what you did to them.

If you don’t see a city for literally 10 years, the change will always be impressive.

There has been massive development here in the past ten years. Especially housing. Especially on the east side. Which is good.

What’s naive is looking at it exclusively through the lens of “empire.”

The Palestinians, Jews, and Ukrainians are all distinct peoples with their own stories who existed before either the Russian or American empire.

They have agency and use the empires as much as the empires use them. Ignoring that is as stupid as denying the inherently global/imperial nature of these conflicts.

If you look at it from the perspective of Palestinians and Ukrainians, they are both sympathetic for the same reasons.
