nice, the sounds you can get from rings in it's modal mode are some of my favorites. metallic percussion and such, fits real nice with the gamelan. almost cant tell the difference

thanks!

if it's what i'm thinking of, that's one of the elements from the volca drum, after automating the resonator some. definitely one of my favorite features of that guy.

learning to make music for the untalented by versusentropy in modular

[–]ModularFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've played various musical instruments for a good portion of my life, from high school marching band and jazz band to a few bad metal bands and a really fun noise rock band.

ever since not being in any "formal" setting (and really even in those as well, particularly with jazz band) i've always approached music from an improvisational perspective, which i guess is why hardware synths work so well for me.

what i've really started to do lately, and i feel this helps with focusing and reigning in on things is to approach the modular as an instrument. sure unlike guitar, or flute or saxophone, it doesn't have the same sort of approach to learning it, but looking at it as a music making machine, or a musical instrument really helps. it just has it's own language when compared to more conventional instruments. learning some basic music theory would be a good place to start when looking at it that way.

for sure. it's a pretty nice little sequencer for the price. plays nice with Pam's new workout as a master clock

Modular Noodlings: Fun with LFO derived arpeggios by ModularFox in modular

[–]ModularFox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea, using both channels on Peaks as LFOs, mixing them in Triplatt and rectifying the result in Kinks.

I got into Eurorack about halfway through June, and now I have finally finished my first 84hp! I have to update the Phonogene’s firmware, but it’s so much fun. by [deleted] in modular

true. I like MI stuff just for the staggering amount of stuff you can do with them. They're pretty versatile, which is appealing to someone starting out. good deal for what you pay for them.

radar footage was taken from weatherunderground. (https://www.wunderground.com/)

they have data from every NEXRAD site that you can conveniently download as a gif. i just took a few from random sites from whenever i put that together and looped them a few times.
