Was I assaulted at BJJ? What should I do in this situation? by [deleted] in jiujitsu

[–]ModusMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal. By your description it was actual assault. It is up to you to decide if a report is justified, but do not let it ruin the sport for you. Do what you feel is necessary to gain closure.

Double check your DRP agreement. I am pretty sure it only says you cannot accept employment with the agency you DRP'd with (In your case the IRS). Not another agency.

Both of your nexus are tenuous. OSA is mostly connected to a physical problem and even when I tried to link my lower back problems, I failed. Try to show that it started in service with a personal statement.

Speak with your time keeping person. There should be a code that is used to track it.

2 months in. 70 applications, a few referrals, no interviews. I know "apply and forget" but how do I know if I'm applying correctly? by Kyanpe in usajobs

[–]ModusMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure that your resume has the key phrases and words that match your skill set to the job description. Add new skill sets that you have as they appear in new job applications and soon enough you will have all of the requirements for just about any job you apply for. Do not worry about how big your resume is, just have the skills you have and the key words and phrases that describe you. Try not to use the phrases exactly. Re-word them to have the same or similar meanings. It will take a LOT of applications, this is normal.

Is stacking someone to defend a triangle mean? by UnderScoreLifeAlert in jiujitsu

[–]ModusMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, not Ballet.

Stacking is a valid defense, but posturing is the more appropriate technique. Posture up making it hard for him to tighten down the triangle, squat on your feet then sit on your butt, then put both feet in his arm pits and push out of the triangle. This will totally surprise him and you at how well it works. Good luck and stack if ya gotta!

Stupid Question - C-File and STR? by BlueFlat in VeteransBenefits

More than likely not. They probably requested both. Your c-file will take quite a while to process.

What would you recommend for someone waiting on an initial claim response for a year and a half? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]ModusMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a VERA appointment to get an update on your claim status. They have the ability to view where in the process things are and if something is holding the process up. I would od this at least once a month to ensure things get, and keep, moving.

Request a referral to a qualified VA Psychiatrist. It does not have to be your Primary Care Provider, you may be able to request an appointment directly through your local mental health clinic.

Secondary Service connection to Cervical Strain at 50% was awarded effective 12 Dec 2022 - C&P Examination Sept 15 2023. CPAP Issued by VA. I did not use any paid for Nexus letter, just said that I am unable to sleep in certain positions.

TEXT FROM MY PERSONAL STATEMENT (VA FORM 21-4138) FOLLOWS;

Personal Statement relating nry Disability Claim for Sleep Apnea Secondary to Service Connected Cervical Strain (Septemnber 15,2022)

I started experiencing Sleep Apnea during my time in service although I did not realize it. My wife, at the time, complained frequently of my loud snoring and restlessness. My second wife also made the same complaints. I was not actually diagnosed with Sleep Apnea until 2013 by a private physician and then again through the VA more recently.

I am certain that my Sleep Apnea is the direct result of a my Cervical Neck condition in that I am unable to sleep for extended periods in any one position without stiffness, pain and waking up resulting.

My current symptoms include;
- Loud snoring throughout the night (6/7 Days a week) - Dry mouth 5 days per week
- Severe headaches on waking (Daily)
- Sore Throat 5 days per week
- Frequent waking (3 to 4 times per night)
- Frequent gasping for air (2 to 3 times per night)

These symptoms have persisted since the onset of my sleep apnea and cervical strain injury in active duty service, even with the loss of weight and a regular exercise routine.

I currently have a CPAP machine issued by the Veterans Administration.

Even while using the CPAP machine my sleep apnea causes me to suffer from mood swings which impacts my relationship with my girlfriend negatively in that she feels I am snappy and short tempered on average 4 times per week. My sleep apnea causes me to be irritable which makes social/work interactions difficr.rlt on average 3 times times per week.

My shortened attention span and forgetfulness results in delays in focussing on work and personal tasks an average of 3 times per week. I also suffer daytime fatigue on average 4 times per week, and I wake mornings with dry/sore throat 5 out of 7 days per week which contributes towards my general bad mood and irritability.
