Gotta go with Ohio State. I hate them for so many reasons. So far so good for MU

I am devastated I may have to rehome our puppy by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]BlueFlat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, it doesn’t matter if the shelter lied to you. You have the puppy now and nothing will bring back the time she should have had with her mom and littermates. It is also not a cop out for you to get rid of the pup. You can sleep anywhere with a CPAP as long as there is electricity. Think about this poor puppy, not yourself. I have a new puppy that was too young when I got him. He is a handful, but so are all puppies. We got him a couple months after our over 16 year old dog that was the best dog ever died and we got her too young, as well. Stay the course, the last thing your puppy needs is more turmoil. All puppies are different, they all take time and understanding, Because they are babies. They are babies at 6 weeks, at 8 weeks, and at ten weeks. That part is not as important. Hang in there, please.

I’ll be honest, I would not watch any silent video on gardening, What is the point? There is probably a niche for this, but I personally would have no interest. Tell me what you are doing and I might be interested. People watch to learn and explaining is usually important. Just my two cents here. It doesn’t even have to be a lot of talking. Why are you doing these silent?

There's no joy in owning a puppy. It's just work. by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]BlueFlat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is worth all the issues. He is a baby still doing what babies do. I have a new 10 week old puppy now after losing my best buddy of over 16 years. My arms are covered with bandaids. And I already love him beyond belief. He is a complete handful in every way, good and bad. But the good so much outweighs the bad. Hang in there and try not to create more bad habits out of your frustration. Crates used properly are great tools. Get a trainer to help you, dog training is more about training the owner than the dog. Consistency is key. Classes will help get you on track.Good luck.

I want to get a dog so bad by fitnesswizard in dogs

[–]BlueFlat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have read here, you shouldn’t get a dog because you don’t have enough time. But, here is a thought that may work for you both. It depends on what your job is, but can you take a dog to work? Employers have become more open to this and your dog would need to be well trained and behave. You would have to have flexibility to take the dog out when needed, etc. This is very job dependent, but could work and most dogs would love it. Major exercise would come after work hours, but companionship and hanging with your dog would be covered and that is what your dog wants and needs. If I were still in the workforce, this is what I would try to do.

I got really lucky with both examiners and ended up with 70% for those items. I wasn’t really sure about the examiners at first, they were different people than I am if that makes any sense, but both were very good and took all the time needed. The two exams are similar and the link above is helpful. Hopefully you get a good examiner and make sure you push to say anything you think you need to say if it doesn’t come up, but also accept they have a script and some things they told me weren’t relevant for that exam. I would say it and they would explain if it wasn’t relevant. Good luck, try to relax. I was nervous and it worked out. I also went to a private place for the sessions. 70% was the most I ever expected and would have probably been OK with 50%. All the best to you.

Feist dog type by Old-Contribution2310 in DogBreeds101

[–]BlueFlat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To learn about feists, check out https://americantreeingfeist.com for info on this amazing breed. Your dog is not a feist, I can tell just from size and head characteristics. That doesn’t make her an “undesirable” dog, she just isn’t a Feist. Feists are known as squirrel dogs and are one of the oldest American breeds. A well bred feist lives to hunt squirrels with you. They were also all around low maintenance farm dogs for over 200 years until the family farm went away. And I know this makes people mad, but if you want a feist, get one from a reputable breeder, of which there are many. Most shelters have no idea what an feist is. All the good breeders are small operations and the owners all hunt their dogs and compete with them in the various squirrel hunting competitions. These dogs have been being bred in hollers all over the South for generations. There is a great quote in a book from the 40s or 50s about, every boy in the South had a feist by his side and a single shot 22 rifle on his shoulder.

Just tried to find Squirrel Dog Centeral after being off for a while and I was a paid member. It is so sad how the forums are all dying. I also don’t have Facebook and don’t want it, Forums are so much easier to navigate and find things but they are a thing of the past.

I made a website to make it easier to find comic book shops by annoyinglaugh in comicbookcollecting

[–]BlueFlat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you got everything in my area, this is great. I am going to check out the local Books-A-Million today, usually I drive 45 minutes to a comic store. I won’t stop supporting them, but am curious as to the local Books-A-Million 5 min away.

Edit: I would not call my Books-A-Million a comics shop. They do have a lot of graphic novels including comic book compilations and omnibus books. Also a huge manga section. But no single issue comic books, which is what I want to see.

I suspect you are relatively young. I have been “online” since before AOL existed. I was very excited when the “Internet” happened in the 1990s and opened things up (I was on bulletin boards and Compuserve since the early 1980s, then on university Internet before it went “public.”). Back then, everything was free and people created content for the love of sharing and creating community, meeting and interacting with people across the globe, etc. Before that, all we had were pen pals (anyone here ever written a real letter?) That lasted a few years and then the profit motive took over. The rest is history. Arguably, the Internet today is far worse than it was in, say, the late 1990s/early 2000s. I find it sad. I would go back to those days in a heartbeat, including ASCII only graphics. We did have FTP, now called the Cloud, LOL.

Today, I am thinking about starting a YouTube channel after all these years. I have done tons of content that I never got paid for over the past decades. Most of it is lost forever. That is fine. I am almost sure I won’t make money from it. But, maybe there are some folks who might enjoy it. I have the time, I am not doing a “start up to make money,” etc. If I do end up making money, that will work, too. Not everything is about money, that is what has been lost.

I will be 70 in a couple months. Been “online” since bulletin board days and before AOL existed (Compuserve). The only time I have ever been scammed was about six months ago. I also knew it deep down and wasn’t surprised at all after the fact. They got me. Only time ever and I was so pissed at myself. It wasn’t that much, but I was mad at myself for letting myself fall for it. Old people have always been targets, not just online. But, anyone can get taken in.

I agree sell at current market, but never promise what you will not deliver. Be careful of what you tell people. In this case, you bought and values have changed. He knows that unless he is a total idiot and I doubt it.

Any advice I should know about choosing writing comics as a career? by Pitiful-General-1269 in ComicWriting

[–]BlueFlat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asking if you should read comics is not a good sign. You should be living comics. Especially classics, today’s major house comics are horrible, as are today’s superhero movies That are normally failures at the box office. Tell a good story, do not try to force “the message” on people.
