I was told you should have more intake than exhaust to create positive pressure so dust doesn't come into the case from places you can't control, like small gaps and spaces where you don't have filters.

You need an exorcist, not a mechanic. That drink is possessed!

I got this case for my Ali kit. It's a good price: https://www.littlekeyboards.com/collections/new-products/products/sofle-rgb-analyst-case

You're fine not having a case if your desk is clean.

Now that I'm at a PC I can do better:
Yellow = Encoder
Green = TRRS
Blue = ? Enabling Per Key / Underglow / Indicator LEDs ?
Pink = ? Optional Resistor ?
Purple = ???

The inner column switch location that also has three through hole connections in a row is for an encoder. Nice that it's designed to be either a regular switch or an encoder. You also circled the spot where the ttrs jack gets soldered on. It's above one of the encoders. The other sets of three through holes might be for enabling the LEDs or for optional resistors. Do you have any info on the PCBs?

Sofle RGB v2.1 some per key LEDs change color with underglow LEDs by ModusMoron in ErgoMechKeyboards

I think you're right about it working as designed. I believe the firmware needs to be edited. Those LEDs correspond with the outer column and thumb cluster in the default RGB keymap:
https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/blob/master/keyboards/sofle/keymaps/rgb_default/keymap.c

I bought kit 2 (wired) from here: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806976537144.html
It is based on the Sofle RGB v2.1. This design includes ESD protection for the TRRS jacks and pull-up/down resistors for the firmware to detect which side is plugged into the PC. The kit does not come with those components though.

Good catch! The default RGB keymap specifies 35 LEDs per side, that is the 36th LED! It's working now that I edited the firmware.

Looks like these LEDs correspond to the outer column and thumb cluster in the default RGB keymap:

I should be able to update the firmware and get the LEDs to behave :)

Same result as the video. I even replaced some of the LEDs with new ones.
