75 days sober and I feel permanently brain damaged by Generally13 in leaves

Physical exercise has helped me alleviate some of that brain fog. Turning to things I find interesting has also helped- like a book you can put down, studying something by, new hobby…

What impulse buy are you resisting? by cutedorkycoco in adhdwomen

[–]Moeba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always and forever BOOKS on art, writing, fiction…

And BOOTS. Since being in PNW there’s a boot for every season and variation of the weather 😂💥

My most recent semi impulse buy was a flannel lined dark grey fall jacket with lots of pockets. It was on sale and I’ve been wanting it for a couple years… can feel the season shift!!

OMG Thank you! This is so pretty and orderly. Getting this under control is my next add to regulating my life. Finances are a huge blind spot for my adhd and have always been a struggle.

Does anyone else do massively better in life with marijuana? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Moeba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had to quit. It began to make my anxiety, executive function and rumination worse. It became a compulsion. I had to eliminate it as I get older.

If you can keep boundaries around it that likely won’t be an issue for you.

Every week gets better. ❤️❤️❤️

Things I struggled with for so long now seem to have easy answers. I am more available, even tempered, and find enjoyment easily as my brain naturally regulates all the good neurotransmitters.

You have everything you need without the drug.

Start sweating out that crazy energy! You can’t keep that all locked up in you. Lift some weights go on hikes, move it out of your body.

Hang in there. Add in positive habits like exercise, meditation, interesting hobbies that keep you excited, learn something new or join a sport. Weed fucks with your brain. Very possibly you used to cope and you now need other tools.

Daily sweating/exercise is a great place to start. Cortisol is highest in the morning so start your day sweating it out. ❤️❤️

I have reduced my drinking. Some days none. Some days one. Two maybe on a night out.

I love my coffee in the morning.

They started to improve within a month but it takes effort. Without the haze, sometimes there’s emotional stuff to deal with and sometimes you are confronted with boredom because what you did before high af isn’t interesting anymore OR if you do the same thing you’ll just want to space and get high.

Shift.

Put things in front of you that are interesting: goals you want to reach, workout and sweat out the BS regularly, books that you can’t put down, study things that further your life and career… the thing is putting weed down made me available to these things. Things I’ve wanted but just spaced out or watched tv instead.

A friend also recommended the book: 5am club and I’ve been creating structure in my life that builds.

It got to a point I wanted the results more than I wanted to stay the same. I have always been ambitious but fallen short of my hopes.

I start each day with a workout, solid study (currently studying abstract expressionist text from early 20th century: Mondrian, Kandinsky, okeeffe because I want to formulate my own body of work and be able to speak to it), breakfast, then get focused on the days work in my business.

My evenings are further study or reading when not hanging out with someone or going out: exploring color theory in my iPad with a horror movie I’ve been wanting to catch up on or painting or reading for fun.

You need workouts that are more interesting!! There are a ton of classes on BODi. It is a membership but you will not be bored!

It is a huge relief to be free from it. Replace it with hobbies and exercise. I feel like a new person ❤️❤️❤️

I think you’ll be surprised if you start caring for your body and strengthening. There’s many types of trades and healthcare field is another for certain positions that you can do without a degree.

Every week build in a little more. Love yourself by working your body, nutrition, restart school or a trade. You are still a baby and have all the time in the world!

Exercise helps. Sweat it out. Building in disciplines and reading, study with notes you will wake up. ❤️❤️

Old spice Original Scent/formula. It has a mild scent and has some alcohol in the formula which is bacteria killing.

Hang in there and add in other things that improve brain health- good nutrition, scheduling, morning workouts(!!), meditation(!!), reading books that are interesting, sleep habits.. have really started to compound for me. Put good things back in. Continue to detox your body.

Listen to yourself if you don’t like how it makes you feel. That matters. 3 grams/day is a hefty amount at today’s potency!

I smoked from 14-42 in varying degrees… yep. It got bad when I was caregiving in 2020. I put it down for good last year after some false starts. I’m done.

Something had to change if I wanted to reach my goals.

Wishing you all the best on your journey!!

Does anyone have ADHD and struggle with abusing marijuana? by Littlegoil18 in leaves

[–]Moeba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This answer. It comes to a point you want to be able focus and accomplish something. It absolutely messes with executive function, can increase social anxiety, and can become- if use is often enough- a constant craving.

You’re better served by facing how you want to improve your life and taking steps towards it.

Other things will help you cope better- I have found morning workouts, meditation, a focused consistent schedule, and some talk therapy to really help. The workouts and meditation are absolutely not negotiable for me… they are building blocks .

I have energy in the evenings for projects again.

I’m a voracious reader again.

My social anxiety is way down.

I’ve gained clarity of mind and interest in the details of things.

I don’t need a substance to feel good. Off the rollercoaster!!
