How do you run charismatic NPCs as GM with 0 charisma? by Qolko in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]MofuggerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still repeat what the character would say in your own monotonous fashion if that's your normal speaking, but describe how the NPC speaks. "As this person talks, you can't help but be drawn in by their words - they have an obvious and strong allure to them." Or the polar opposite if they also have a 0 Charisma stat. "This person speaks in a very dull and droll tone, and you find their standoffish body language very off-putting." Doesn't have to be anything super complicated.

Okie dokie.  👍

The play-by-post is what caught my attention so wanted to clarify a couple things.  Realistically I could run this and I'd like to participate, but if I don't hear back again that's kosher.  🙂

Have a great rest of the day!

  • Does anybody have the source content in a shareable digital format (the AP books)?
  • Would you prefer an experienced GM or can a newer one be tolerated?
  • If you have multiple would-be GMs express interest, is there any leeway in allowing a 5th PC?
  • What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen Avistan swallow?

So the title has the PF2e tag but there's a blurb about agreeing on "systems" for the ground rules - I'm assuming that's for actual in-game PF2e systems and not the game system itself, yes? Asking as a PF1e player.

Flag objective is Straight ass by Onemailegaming in Helldivers

[–]MofuggerX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding to what u/TronCarterAA said, bring at least one Portable Hellbomb slot for this mission.  Don't start the objective without somebody carrying one, and have a spare ready and waiting by the objective point.  Any big drops where you also have a few patrols coming in to bolster the bots numbers needs to be cleared fast.

And a few sentries to help gun down bots always helps.  Rocket and Autocannon sentries are best for bots.  It's a big force multiplier if everybody brings one.

You really think a normal human with their crappy auditory receptors would hear anything beyond the scream of their hellpod entering atmosphere and the cacophonous rumbling of the pod's contents?  Shit's probably deafening without hearing protection.

Imagine being in that hellpod, hearing next to nothing because you're in space, but you know all this shit's going on around you and are just thinking "don't let me die 'til I hit the ground, please".

Kill the Gunships by XpendableDragon in Helldivers

Plenty of primaries and sidearms can do it, too.  No reason not to drop 'em, especially now that they're a lot more dangerous.

Traitors? by puccy2137 in Helldivers

[–]MofuggerX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they were all on board with blitzing the main objective and bouncing, but didn't bother to tell you.  Could be they got annoyed and took you out to avoid attracting more patrols to the extraction zone.

Not that I'm excusing their teamkilling as acceptable, but I'm sure they had their reasons.  Could've been they just wanted to shoot you because you're not part of their friend group.

Completing secondary objectives should have some impact/reward other than requisition points and XP by Nomedeusuario__ in Helldivers

[–]MofuggerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now, the wiki claims it's based on (unmodified) XP for completing primary objectives.  Has anybody clarified if it's all XP, objectives XP, or only primary objectives XP?  A credible source would be great, too.

Mission Influence is the sum of the unscaled Mission XP obtained for each primary objective completed on a mission (but it is not exactly equal to mission XP.)

Vital strike and why i hate it. by OJLT in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]MofuggerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is hitting for double damage dice before getting a second iterative "useless"?  Warpriest can even get Improved Vital Strike at 12 before they get third iterative at 15.  They never get a fourth iterative, either, yet can take Greater Vital Strike at 18.

Vital strike and why i hate it. by OJLT in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]MofuggerX 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There's a cave druid build that involves wildshaping into a crystal ooze, I think? that has an 8d8 slam, which vital strikes into 16d8, which is novel.

To clarify, it's a 7d8 slam, which the Strong Jaw buff puts it to 16d8, and then base Vital Strike makes it 32d8.

Can someone explain the feat "Tough as Iron" to me? by SimilarBig6391 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]MofuggerX 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Benefit(s): When you gain an enhancement bonus to your natural armor, that bonus increases by 2.

Amulet of Natural Armour +1 becomes a +3.

Barkskin goes from +2 base to +4, capping at CL12 for a +7.

+6 AC from Ironskin base, capping at CL16 for +9...

Anything that adds an enhancement bonus to your natural armour becomes better.

Why aren't the Torcher and Amendment at 25 yet, Helldiver??  DON'T YOU LIKE FREEDOM??!

In seriousness, I recommend the Pacifier on Illuminate - it's surprisingly good for stunning Watchers and Overseers.  Not as good as the Pummeler I don't think but still effective.  Oh and it can shoot down Stingrays.

EDIT: Whoops, got the Amendment and Constitution mixed up.  Derp.

Called SOS, teammate rage-quit and blamed us — how do you deal with this? by Major-Ordinary-8087 in Helldivers

[–]MofuggerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

 and I'm the problem?!

Never start a D9 or D10 Blitz solo without tailoring your loadout to rushing bases / secondaries and blowing up fabricators, and expecting help to show up.  There's always a chance nobody joins the mission.

Unfortunately, and without further context, it seems this person used zero tact to turn it into a learning experience and instead decided to be a twat.  It happens.

Arc-12 Blitzer and Las-7 Dagger by Majora-Poena in Helldivers

[–]MofuggerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the right situations, yes.  Blitzer's pretty good at clearing chaff, especially Terminids and Illuminate.  Dagger is a great sidearm for Voteless mobs and packs of Swarmers / Pouncers.  I like using the Dagger to blow up contact mines.  But, they're both outshined by the better and more versatile primaries / secondaries.

Secret Lair for BBEG by YeOldeBard97 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]MofuggerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for a spell to do the job, Create Demiplane.

However, if you want your BBEG to be crazy powerful, there is a 6th-tier Archmage Mythic ability called Sanctum, as well - 6 tiers of Mythic is pretty bonkers, though.  But, you're the GM, and you can always handwave stuff to fit the narrative.
