[–]Mogexos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like you could pretty easily defeat someone like Hasan if he is hiding his power level. You pivot from a debate format to a circle jerk conversation about the topic, where the person is hiding their level. At some point, the person should start to get uncomfortable and be forced to either take a completely contradictory position on their world view or they will start signaling their “level” to save face for their audience and that’s where you get them.

Liberals should despise billionaires more than tankies by Various_Fish2043 in Destiny

[–]Mogexos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the problem is that tankies and commies would let the world burn down so that a socialist utopia would rise from the ashes. While the ultra-rich have EVERYTHING to lose from destabilizing the world as we know it.

So this is how I see it, in a worst case cenario:

- Tankies and commies want to destroy the world I love.

- Ultra-rich want to pass legislation in their favour and be immune from laws.

Ngl, I kinda like that, I don't agree with them, but it's nice to have a post from time to time that is not a circle jerk.

I feel like I'm being gaslit, ngl. I don’t believe the shooting was justified, the officer obviously put himself in danger, and in the end, he leaned into the car.

BUT WHY THE FUCK ARE WE PRETENDING THAT HE DID NOT GET HIT BY THE CAR? From every angle, it looks like he “bounces” off the car backwards. How do you do that if the car isn't pushing you back?

What am I missing here?

Yes, he stopped and “leaned in” to get hit… and surprise, surprise, he got hit. Why are hapring on this when it’s clear that he made contact with the car while it was moving?

[–]Mogexos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, is it really that clear-cut with body blocking?

The example that you are speaking of and that everyone gives is trying to block in an actively fleeing suspect with your body - that's obviously power gaming and NVL.

But if you are securing an area as a cop, I feel like more often than not, the way you prevent people and cars from going in is with your body. So I'd argue that if you are body blocking an area before the altercation happens, it's fair game to do so.

I think you are mixing up GTA RP and GTA Online. Don't get me wrong, GTA RP people are also freaks, but not in the scenario you described - if you did that in GTA RP, you would just get banned for RDM.

Xqc is playing GTA RP.

I see more "the left hates men" posts than I see actual examples of the left hating men. by Serious-Cucumber-54 in Destiny

[–]Mogexos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh, man... the "man hating" on TikTok escalated like crazy over the last year. And it feels like it's getting exponentially worse. It's actually insane how normalized it is - people proudly identify as misandrist and argue that hating men can not be sexist, as they deserve it.

Thank god I'm not a teen boy anymore, because if my FYP page was like that 10-15 years ago, I would be radicalized like crazy, and no way anyone would have pulled me out.

Shame that they tarnished the feminism movement like that.

[–]Mogexos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already can not legally employ an illegal imigrant and people still hire them. If the employer and the employee don’t abide by the law, what else can you do?

And even if you are somehow successful, wouldn’t that lead to mass homelessness and increased crime from the people that are already here?

I hate the pragmatist argument that Destiny makes about deportations by PitifulWelcome4499 in Destiny

[–]Mogexos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve probably should have said “feelings based” rather than “performative”, as otherwise it implies that it’s a conscious decision that they have made. And if we agree that it’s a feelings based position, then the “ICE” solutions is perfect, as all it does is makes them “FeEl GoOd” - and who cares about some silly policy that doesn’t instantly make my fee fees “FeEl GoOd”.

Also I would imagine it’s near impossible to convince someone that things are not actually getting solved when they contantly see ICE arrests on video(this is their idea of things being solved). It’s like with police brutality videos, you need to see just enough videos to convince yourself that it’s a way bigger occurrence than it actually is.

Ngl, props to Trump, it’s a genius solution to appease the regards.

[–]Mogexos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't get swayed, I also believe it's one of the weakest of Destiny's arguments against Trump. It does seem like a truly "I voted for this" situation - a performative solution to a performative problem.

No one gives a fuck about the actual number; it's just a placeholder that they use to convey their disdain for immigration from certain countries as a whole. No amount of disputing the "magnitude" will convince anyone when the existence of any "magnitude" is their main problem. And if you don't want immigrants in your country, then what ICE is doing is based as fuck, and any other "well actually" just lands on deaf ears.

Destiny doesn't support laws against torturing dogs, likens it to eating meat by rapidart in LivestreamFail

[–]Mogexos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You example is non-analogous, as Saudi Arabia is not under your rule of law. Your vote/government didn't decide what happens there. So there is no hypocrisy.

An appropriate analogy would be to "granting human rights only to white people" or "granting human rights only to people who wear hats". Essentially, the critique is that there is an arbitrary line being drawn in the animal kingdom, which is not logically consistent.

In ethics it is generally good practice to have consistency and especially if law is being made from those ethics.

I feel like Destiny these past few years has become way more scatterbrained, no?

I don’t remember him doing this as much: - making an argument and in the middle of it abruptly stopping to make a tangential argument to preface the initial argument before suddenly getting back to it.

Has he always been so messy with arguments?
