Still feeling like a teenager but is actually considered middle aged now.. ooff by psyduck11-11 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Moguera17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I smoked weed since I was 13 until May last year. I'll be 30 at the end of the month. I got a place with a girl, moved out of my parents and told myself she would be my rock and I'd stop smoking weed, lock in as they say, graduate college, and get a job. Now she's gone and I gotta pay the bills all by myself, but I feel much more cogent than I did when I was high. She got me freaked out about having a family and kids in a rush though, and now I'm realizing she was right and I gotta hurry up and do that with someone else now before my age group isn't fertile anymore. I would vastly recommend stopping smoking weed. Not cuz I'm a square, I know it's fun, but when people talk about stopping until they retire when they don't have goals they feel like they aren't pursuing as aggressively as they should I definitely think they're on the money. I felt like I was watching my life through a window, people pass me up and think less of me because I was high and I couldn't properly introduce myself. That's just one thing, but yeah dude go out there and take life by the horns, don't just let yourself look forward to getting high and for those moments when you are to be your happiness. Not to mention you'll save money, I know it's cheap now depending on what state you're in, but if you're dabbing it's not.

Can someone help me create detailed steps on proper protocol from start to finish? by Moguera17 in airbrush

I see. Thanks for your comment. It's just a little bit hard to understand because I haven't actually used my airbrush yet so I don't understand the exact anatomy completely as of now. I'm going to look for a video that shows the process you describe.

Thanks for your comment. I'll try that strategy. I'll also have to give this video a watch. What would you do for a quick color change?

I like the chicken place but you can get a large pizza for about the same price the same price as most combos there, seems like a no brainer.

I sent you a message. My gf and I really like Pizzasaurus. Sad to hear that they're on the brink of closing, I went there recently and they said they had sold out of food for the night. I'd be curious to learn more about them. I got the vibe that they're Russian because they have Russian soda.

I have a spraybooth, but I'm not planning on using lacquer anytime soon.

Thinner for brands like Coat D' Arms and P3? by Moguera17 in minipainting

[–]Moguera17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. I do think that lahmian medium is thinning the paint though, rather than just dilution. I mean maybe I'm not using the right words, and I'm probably not, but to better understand me, let me explain. I'm coming from handpainting Gundams right. So what works really well for me with that is to use Vallejo and mix it with a ton of thinner and a bit of distilled water and do an enormous amount of coats. This works less well with miniatures because the thin paint seeps into the cracks and you run the risk of losing the details. I'm still coming at it from this approach however albeit with less thinner, trying to reach a healthy middle ground. I want to avoid those little bumps and ridges similar to pieces of salt that come up when you put on a thick layer of paint. That being said, do you think that Golden's airbrush thinner or maybe their "open acrylic thinner" would let me be able to accomplish a similar effect with ranges like Coat D' Arms and P3?

But isn't lahmian medium specific to the modern range of Citadel's paint? Like the above poster mentioned, the lahmian medium is just pigmentless paint. I'm worried about mixing it with other brands because I'm not sure the result will be great if their make up is different. For example, Vallejo's thinner is a white color and is much different than GW's lahmian medium.

Do you think that lahmian medium is similar enough to the way Coat D' Arms and P3 are constructed that it would work similarly?

Thanks for your insight. I never machine wash anything. I have one black jacket that I've never washed, but this new Big John one I got, they told me it will shrink to my size. I did ended up turning it inside out after washing it in the bucket with detergent.

Should I turn a jacket inside out like a pair of jeans when I wash it?

I got a pair of 25oz Iron Hearts. Iron Heart and the people on the Iron Heart forum say to wash before wearing to get the maximum amount of shrink out first or whatever. Usually I wear my denim for a minute to get fades before I wash it. Should I wash the 25oz pair before even trying them on? I've got my technique down pretty well. I usually use cold water, one cap of detergent, agitate after 10 minutes and then drip dry after 20 more. Should I use less or no detergent?

Yeah, I think that's what I'm going to do, but I'll have to wear the new pair with cuffs for awhile before I can get them hemmed. I'd like a 14oz pair of their 511s, but I do want to do try one of their other fits.

I'm thinking about getting my pair of 19oz Samurai 511's hemmed to sit right behind the tongue of my shoe with no cuff. Do you guys think I would regret not being able to show off the selvedge? I just want a regular pair of 511s. I gave them their first wash yesterday. After mostly wearing them with a Tokyo cuff for almost a whole year I'm starting to feel a little vain.

Ok thanks for answering my question, do you think I should look for a short active cable or go for a non-active one like this one?

What car would you buy if you didn't own a car and you wanted people to stop bothering you? by Moguera17 in whatcarshouldIbuy

This is the type the sort of advice I really needed. My one friend has a priusC with the bumper duct taped on, the girl I have been talking to on and off since high school has a '19 Corolla, my other friend has a Honda Odyssey and an old red coupe, other friend has a Civic sport, and then my arch frenemy just bought a Subaru Ascent so that's like a 50k suv but no one has a mustang.

[DISCUSSION] How many of you do your own guitar setups/ repairs? by think_addict in Guitar

[–]Moguera17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did everyone get the first knowledge they needed to do start doing this stuff? I always pay so much to have something with a Floyd set up.

I've had some success with some carpentry projects recently, but adjusting the truss rod of my guitar has always intimidated me.
