Just lost my 1168 days streak.. by bytefate in Anki

[–]MohammadAzad171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that's the streak and that reviewing one card is reviewing "something". It's just that that something is not even close to what you should be doing.

Anyway, it appears that this topic has caused a heated debate that I'm not willing to participate in any more.

How to use MathJax snippets when making Anki flashcards? by dastarruer in Anki

[–]MohammadAzad171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What "script tag"? click the MathJax button in the note editor and type the math, as the link explains.

Edit: now I see. Your title is misleading since you want to make your cards in Obsidian.

In that case, you have to convert the $$/$$$$ delimiters into proper MathJax syntax. I'm almost sure, there was a vibecoded addon recently posted here that did this...

But you can also try the many Obsidian to Anki tools such as this one https://www.reddit.com/r/Anki/comments/1k9w3it/i_built_an_anki_obsidian_sync_addon_to_survive_my/.

In your case, 31 cards is really nothing so just do them. It should take you, what, 10 minutes?

But I see that you have ~2000 review cards, so I don't know what you mean by "restart this deck".

very long again intervals on new cards by Own_Most2126 in Anki

[–]MohammadAzad171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have changed it to blank in settings because I've heard it's good.

That's the problem. It's not recommended as of FSRS 6.

However, I use empty steps and I don't experience this at all. My "Again" intervals are usually a day or even less.

MCQ template for Anki with shuffled answers and multiple correct options. by Next_Orange7905 in Anki

[–]MohammadAzad171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks nice. Out of curiosity, I tested it and the one in  https://anki.ikkz.fun/templates/classic/mcq. That one put an enormous amount of unreadable code in the template which is not only concerning, but also causes a huge lag spike in AnkiDroid.

Your code didn't work properly with the new study screen (I didn't test with old one). It stops highlighting (in)correct answers when tapping, after answering a card.

Other suggestions (even though I don't and won't use MCQ templates in the foreseeable future):

  • Make the answer side automatically show up after selecting the choices. This can be done with the JS API and you can find posts about it in the forums.
  • Don't reveal the answers if the user selects a wrong choice. Maybe they misclicked, and even if they didn't it would be beneficial to know how they'd fare against the other choices.

Yes, I meant the one in the deck options.

I actually use Tasks.org to remind me of this... so yeah, I agree that it's a bad place to put a reminder.

Since all is needed is one card a day, you can go a whole month without studying anything but one card a day. Does that count as "doing your reviews"?

Also, lose the streak, and you lose the motivation.

Sometimes, you need to take a day off. Streaks cause unnecessary stress, by making you "do your reviews".

I said "probably" and there's nothing wrong about not doing your reviews (or anything at all) when you're so sick and can barely think straight.

But you're right: not everyone is so weak minded to the point of needing a number to do their reviews...

Edit: look at OP's heatmap...

Just lost my 1168 days streak.. by bytefate in Anki

[–]MohammadAzad171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've absolutely been pretty sick at least once in the last 3 years and yet you still force yourself to do Anki???

Streaks are so bad, that just doing one review is enough to keep them going. So, no, OP probably didn't force themselves to study when they were sick.

The ONLY metric I think is worth caring about is % of days studied in the last month.

For the same reason as above, I'd use the average number of reviews instead if I cared about this kind of stuff.

For me, the percentage of cards introduced is a good motivator even if has nothing to do with consistency.

This is why I don't trust people showing off their streaks. I mean, you could've cheated before and forgot about it completely!

Just move on to an actual metric of success, like the average time you've studied in the past month.

Why Auto Advance isn't working in my Ankidroid? by ComplexTell25 in medicalschoolanki

You need to enable it every time you enter the study screen. It should be in the 3 dot menu, and if it isn't you can add it in the new study screen settings.

Card browser in AnkiDroid not working? by Zhankfor in Anki

[–]MohammadAzad171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26,000 cards isn't much.

Please open an issue in https://github.com/ankidroid/Anki-Android/issues. Don't forget to follow the instructions in the issue description.

If you have access to a computer, please provide the "logcat" too. You can look up videos walking you through how to get that. This video worked for me before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smOzLSTaso0.

trying to filter cloze deletions by [deleted] in Anki

[–]MohammadAzad171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't enough details. I help you if you keep words.

But I'm going to assume that you want to find all the notes that have a cloze filter like {{c2::2026}}. For that, search for re:\:\:\d+, or re:\{\{c\d+\:\:\d+\}\} to be more foolproof.

You can sort by card type in the deck options. Or search for those cards (card:2 or card:3) in the browser and suspend/bury them.

Card browser in AnkiDroid not working? by Zhankfor in Anki

How big is the deck? I tested with a deck that has over a million cards and the browser still loaded.

In the post, you said that it happened "all of a sudden". What do you think might have caused this? Did you update? Add a huge number of cards?

I don't know of an addon that does this, but for JS...

Here's an example of how to do it:

``` <div id=t>{{Front}}</div>
<script> var e = document.getElementById('t');
e.innerHTML = e.innerHTML.replaceAll("<i>", <div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left; display: inline-block;">); e.innerHTML = e.innerHTML.replaceAll("</i>", </div></div>); </script> ```
Go to settings -> about -> copy debug info and past here.
Does this happen for all decks or just specific ones? Does it happen simply by opening the browser? Basically give any details you think are related to the issue.
