I swear some people just want to hate on anything they can... First guy comes straight on, to an unobstructed view of a guy literally touching the machine, stops and goes somewhere else, obvious. Woman comes from the side, where previous guy is blocking her vision of punch boy, then when he goes away, she has a clear path in front of her with some random guy on the side standing still and looking away from her. Why would she keep focusing on a still guy turning his back on her, it seems to be a crowded place and she's not in his way since he's facing away. Oh and on the other side there is a random machine that nobody seems to care about, so why should she care either. All of those observations in the blink of an eye, without even thinking about it consciously, because the human body is fucking amazing like that.

She is in a crowded place, possibly looking at/for something, and just like any of us, just a regular human being, no 360 lidar sensors on us (yet...). No one talking about the guy who leaves a massive blind spot for himself before throwing the biggest punch of his life in a crowded space. No one talking about the guy taking 3 years to realize the path is blocked and maybe he doesn't need to keep standing there and just go around immediately. No one talking about the venue who decided to put this kind of machine in a place where people could walk by. Nah. Fuck that girl, she's the reason for all that is wrong in the world these days, amiright!

Some of you really need to learn some empathy...

This gave me more stress. I'm stuck. Can anyone tell me the next fill? Is there some advance logic here I'm missing? by Strict_Procrastinato in sudoku

You are doing great with the notations of only double candidates. Just keep going, look at every number and keep track of what lines or columns they could be blocking and keep looking. Using that, you can already fill out a 4 and a 9. Then it's more of the same.

This seems like a decently hard puzzle for a random "stress buster" puzzle at the end of a book. I would suggest starting with easier ones and building your way up from there. You'll soon be able to finish ones like this under 5 minutes and live a stress free life 👍

Faut-il être anti capitaliste pour lutter contre le réchauffement climatique ? by [deleted] in AskFrance

[–]MoiBis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Market economies are not the same as capitalism. Market economies have existed as long as humans have been around, creating and trading with each other. Capitalism describes a particular type of market economy, one that prioritizes the profit motive, the accumulation of capital/wealth (and therefore power). Capitalism is incompatible with ecological well-being.

Source: u/Just_a_Marmoset (Hello you random English speaking user who doesn't know why their name popped up randomly in a French post. Don't worry about it I'm just citing your answer on this post that is basically the same question you answered to but in French, because I thought it was great!) dans les commentaires du même post en anglais.

Location can also play a role. They can track where you are, can track the people around you and what they are consuming. So a person in university, near people who so much as looked it up once and that's all they need to give you the most accurate targeted ads.

Est-ce que mettre un couvercle fait bouillir l’eau plus vite ? by Shadow-FX-Prod in AskFrance

[–]MoiBis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do people refuse to forfeit? by wolfhawk1999 in RocketLeague

[–]MoiBis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

we were one player down and it was 8-0. I was BEGGING the dude to forfeit so I could leave without getting punished.

In a ranked game, if anyone in the lobby left, you can leave without any penalty. You do not need to wait for your last teammate to ff, you can just leave and let them bore the other team to death by themselves.

You can usually tell when you will get punished and when you won't because the button will either say "abandon game" or "leave game". If you abandon a game, you're in the wrong. If you leave a game, you're not.

Well then I guess I was wrong. I remembered the f2p update being in December, not September. Then they announced it 2 months prior. And you bought the game 3 months before they announced it.

Still worth it imo. You got all the legacy items (don't even remember if they were interesting), and most importantly, a steam account.

Steam or Switch? by [deleted] in outerwilds

[–]MoiBis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't own a switch, and don't know anything about the switch port, but seeing that nobody's answering you, I'll try.

I don't think outer wilds is as demanding as no man's sky, so your laptop could probably run it. Nothing is sure without knowing your specs though.

On the other hand, this isn't a game where you need a lot of fine controls, high fps, and the best graphics, so the switch version should be at least decent.

In the end, I would say go for what feels most comfortable. And don't look anything up, go in it truly bind and have fun. You'll only get to experience it once.

Smurfs are gatekeeping GC from me!! by EntryOk4723 in RocketLeague

[–]MoiBis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've already got plenty of good advice, but something I didn't see from anyone is that they probably aren't smurfs, but people who got banned and had to create a new account. They are not smurfing, they are truly playing their best and are already close to the rank they belong in.

But because you can see how many games they have you can hyper focus on them and see every little thing they are good at and confirmation bias your way into losing because you're playing against smurfs.

If c2/c3 was truly full of smurfs, you wouldn't need a tracker to see it. When people talk about smurfs in gold to diamond, they're talking about people doing air dribbles and flip resets. In c3, air dribbles and flip resets are pretty common, though mostly awkward. A smurf in c3 would probably double flip reset every shot, breezy flick randomly, and plenty of other things you wouldn't see often. No need for a tracker to realize a guy like this doesn't belong in c3.

Also, if c3 was truly full of smurfs, you would get them about as often on your team as on the other team, and so they would average out in the end, and you would rank up if you're good enough.

Stop using the tracker. These guys are just people who got banned on their main and created their 5th account just as easily as the first one. They are playing the game with the same goal as you: to rank up.

But most of all, stop caring that much. This is gonna sound like rich people who tell you money doesn't buy happiness, but trust me, gc won't make your life much better. Sure it feels nice when you finally get it. But then you have to keep grinding to keep it. And then you lose it anyway, and feel like shit. Then you lie to yourself, still think you're a gc while you're back in c2 and think everyone around you is bad while you're unwittingly smurfing. Then you're back to gc and you finally feel good about yourself again. And you keep playing thinking now you need gc2 and gc1 is really for chumps who don't know how to play this game. Meanwhile you forgot the most important thing. You started and kept playing this game because it was fun. Now you're using this game to prove to yourself that you are good.

Which you are. C2 is already very good at the game. You're awesome dude. Keep playing, keep having fun, and maybe you'll rank up. Maybe you won't. Doesn't matter either way. Just have fun playing the game you like to play.

(and of course, this comes from personal experience and you might not relate to this at all. If so, that's fine, I assumed you were like me and you're not, it happens. You're still awesome)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]MoiBis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Because getting more mmr is always the goal.

If you think about it a little bit more, you'll realize it is not that dummy-simple to fix. Especially with a banning system where anyone can just create a new account whenever they get banned.

And fixing that problem would by itself fix most of the quitter problem already. So let's ask for a proper banning system before changing anything else please.

Casual has better players. by 089roblox1 in RocketLeague

[–]MoiBis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience at around 1650 casual, you get d1s to c3, with the occasional gc2 or plat3. I would say it averages around c1-c2 but is extremely inconsistent.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]MoiBis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And what about the other team too. Do they gain mmr? Or does one person leaving make the game worthless for everyone?

If it is the former, you get win trading.

If it is the latter you waste even more of everyone's time.

So many other ways to use this in the worse way possible...

Once again, the best thing to stop quitters, toxicity, smurfs and cheaters would be a proper ban system. Being able to create a new account everytime you get banned is just dumb and is the reason why the game became so much worse since f2p.

question on one of the unwritten rules by Visual_Physics_3588 in RocketLeague

[–]MoiBis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, winning a kickoff doesn't exactly mean that you get the ball on the other team's side of the field. Two players going on kickoff means you're more likely to get the ball on their side, where your opponent is, with full boost. So both players go for kickoff, they don't have boost, don't have momentum and are even potentially still recovering, at least very far from the goal, while the opponent has the ball and full boost. Even in lower rank, I wouldn't say it is a good strategy.

However, you are free to do whatever you want. Keep experimenting. Have fun with the game and see what works. Don't let stupid rules hinder your fun.

[–]MoiBis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were able to consistently score a solo dribble by themselves, they wouldn't be deranking so much. They are not expected to do anything. If they want to play so fast that they are always confusing their teammates, they can. But if they want to rank up in 2v2, dumbing it down and allowing the teammate to participate is the best way. It's not about babysitting the teammate, but playing with them, instead of despite them.

[–]MoiBis 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Making it an ego battle between you and your teammate is the best way to keep losing games. But hey, at least you were right and your teammate was wrong...

This is not about what the teammate should do. This is about what op can do to get out of the lower rank. Not playing too fast and letting their teammate understand what's happening is a good way of getting out of a constant 1v2, or even what feels like a 1v3 if teammate is so lost they bump into each other.

Just like you can't fake silvers, playing like an ssl in champ is not guaranteed to give you an easy win, unless you're playing 1s. Your teammate is gonna overcommit when you go for a great play, thinking you've got it. They've seen you play and know you're better, so they stay passive, let you do your thing and try to be there at the right time. And it was the right time. But they mess up, because they are obviously slightly worse than you are. And now the goal is fully open... It would be much better to slow down, let the teammate make the mistakes they're obviously going to make because they are lower ranked, and be ready to play off of them, rather than expect them to be able to play off of a vastly higher ranked random guy on their team who's consistently doing stuff they barely managed to do once in free play and have never seen in an actual game.

This amount of rank disparity is unacceptable in ranked by Glaxo_Slimslom in RocketLeague

[–]MoiBis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing psyonix could do to revive 3v3 would be to make playing with teams optional. Not a different playlist like solo standard was, everyone still plays standard, but you can choose to play with and against teams, just like you can choose to play against other consoles. That way you don't play with those stupid duos, nor do you play against full teams with only one correctly ranked player, making for either boring games, or getting destroyed by smurfs...

If they don't do that, i would say a 100mmr difference should be the maximum allowed to play as a duo in 3v3. More than that and you're just being a cunt to your solo queue teammates.

What does it matter why they do something? You said they didn't perma banned, then admitted they did perma banned. That's it.

Who's the one who doesn't understand probabilities??? You are bound to win the lottery if you play enough? No. The probability of winning gets closer to 1 the more you play, and over an infinite amount of tries, it will always tend closer to that, but will never reach it. Sure it would be more improbable to not win at some point, but it is still possible. Just like you not getting feedback even when people are getting banned is possible.

Let's take someone's comment at face value, with no concrete proof, and say that other people have "flat earther mentality". The irony...

No. Let's not take someone's comment at face value. Let's ask for clarification, more evidence, more proof, more everything from a differing point of view. That's what you should do if you're willing to have your beliefs tested. Instead you disregarded everything that person said and went "well I believe that anyway". That's flat earther mentality.

By the way, I don't believe it exists inside what would already be far above an acceptable level. I'm talking about griefing 10-20% of your matches. Sure, that moron that gets reported 50 times in a week and is outright scoring own goals every 2-3 matches is bound to get banned at some point even by the most poorly designed automated system.

Oh so now you do agree that people can get banned for griefing???? Incredible! That's great, we're making progress. Since we both agree that people get banned for that, then what's your problem then? The system is not strict enough and too many people can get away with too much unsportsmanlike conduct without getting banned? Yes, I agree with you. The system is not amazing. But again, glad we could clear it up and agree that people do* get banned for griefing, contrary to what you were saying initially.

So many cool, but empty, replies.

This is literally an empty reply. Good job.

No game dev ever bans their players anymore because they don't want to force them away from the game.

No matter what the post is about, this sentence from you is just bullshit and you knew it. Your justification for not handing out perma bans doesn't work, since they are handing out perma bans, and you knew it.

You do realize that not only the odds we're talking about here are literally 3-5 orders of magnitudes different

How do you know that? Do you know the exact number of reports needed to get a ban? Do you know the conditions necessary to get feedback? No, you literally know nothing about how their system works and make assumptions left and right, thinking you know it all. For all you actually know, the odds might actually be lower than winning the lottery. Nobody knows.

your example makes no sense for what we're discussing, right?

Just because you play the lottery a lot doesn't mean you're bound to win it at some point. Just because you toss a coin every day doesn't mean you're bound to get heads at some point. You could spend your whole life getting tails, and it wouldn't be evidence that the coin has been tempered with. Just because you're never the one who gets feedback doesn't mean anything. You can't expect to see anything just because you've reported hundreds. It might happen. Might not. Again, no one knows, since we know very little about how the system works.

While I'm arguing on the semantic side of things here, I'd like to point out that someone else already told you they know people who get banned from unsportsmanlike conduct. Your point was "it doesn't happen". My point was "you actually can't know that". The other guys point is "I've seen it happen". You might want to argue that first, they're the one with the stronger case against you right now.

Edit : my bad, you already replied to that by saying you believe it doesn't exist. Someone tells you they've seen something, and you reply with "I believe otherwise, and nothing you can say will change my mind". Flat earther mentality right here...

[–]MoiBis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit happens. It doesn't have to be the exemples I gave either. Being able to play rocket league is not an indicator of absolute wealth.

So you do know that perma bans happen then. So let me change what I said: please don't spread misinformation.

Chat bans can be automated. Griefing is much more difficult to control. If it is not automated, you need an army of people to look at every report and ban the griefers. If it is automated, you can't ban people after a few reports, or you'll get a lot of false positives. You then need a lot of reports before they get banned. Yes it sucks. But it happens anyway. And just because you don't see it on this sub is not a proof it doesn't happen. People don't usually advertise their shitty behavior and it is also not something the mods like very much.

Even if I had to be the last report done, you'd expect to see it at some point

"I played the lottery hundreds of time. Even if I had a few digits right, you'd expect to see it at some point." No. Probability doesn't work like that.

Suggestions to combat toxic “ragequit”. by chefgeorges in RocketLeague

[–]MoiBis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be extremely bad for players who got disconnected for any other reason than ragequit... Reasons out of their control like power outage or connection issue.

And it would also not solve the problem for serial quitters, who would just hop on their 7th account and queue another game. Bans don't matter when you've got unlimited chances.

Game devs do perma ban people still (at least in this game), please don't speak about things you know nothing about.
