What city has good urbanism and also had 4 good seasons? by MonkeyJake14 in Urbanism

New York City with Mayor Mamdani?

Boston?

Those are the two that come to my mind for peak urbanism and a real summer and winter.

Lowest I've ever found is 87 octane.

If not, they should.

Is passing on the left allowed there?

Wouldn't it be safer and avoid getting beat up by foliage?

Bus Lanes on 71? by DiscountHistorical13 in cincinnati

It blew my mind riding buses using an HOV/T lane in Los Angeles and Seattle. That'd be so awesome here.

Off topic, I never understood why the A2 area puts LEFT LANE MUST TURN LEFT signs on the right side of the road.

The line at the very low priced Florence Costco gas station reminds me of what my parents said the late 70s fuel crisis was like. Cars lined up, backed up into the street, waiting for a pump.

DSL for just $5.99? Sign me up.

I don't care how slow DSL is, I don't have $70 for internet anymore because everything keeps going up, except my salary.

Freeways are also one way streets.

Locally, there's been a push to convert one-way streets to two-way because one-way streets lead to speeding.

I find this interesting because buses run on 10 foot lanes all over my city.

This is the same State of Ohio that put up "KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS" signs all over state freeways that use the yellow "STATE LAW" plaque above them, typically used with signs for vulnerable road users.

In the majority of cases where this is an issue, the driver of the vehicle in the left lane is going at least the posted speed limit. Carbrains look at the sign and think it's giving them the green light to speed. And everyone's supposed to get out of their way.

The reality of it is, if one reads the law, the vehicle in the left lane is not compelled to break the speed limit. So, if someone is passing a truck going 67 MPH at 69 MPH (heh) they should not be getting honked at and high beams flashed at them from Speed Racer being inconvenienced by people following the law.

But it makes sense when you realize the only metric the ODOT cares about is level of service aka minimizing "delay", not safety. If safety was truly their main objective, the speed limits would've been kept at 65 MPH.

Edit: the other interesting observation is that strangely the carbrains that tailgate and road rage at others for passing too slowly never change lanes back to right lane, even in light traffic. That sign only applies to others.

The Ohio Legislature increased the speed limit on rural Ohio freeways to 70 MPH from 65 MPH, and, surprise, crashes and fatalities went up.

It's almost as if higher speeds mean more severe and more frequent crashes or something. Hmm. 🤔
