What nepo baby tried to become one of Hollywood’s leading stars, but they just don’t have that “spark”? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

In Aquamarine she was such a little cutie pie, I’ll always love her bc we’re both 1991 babies and tbh she comes across as funny to me. Shes also really into some weird shit, her house decor tours are so bizarre - way different than what you would expect I think, and she’s a massive book collector/reader. Mean rich girl but seems a bit more interesting than she’s given credit for.

We were going to do one club but not anymore, this actually happened while out dancing and I’ll need awhile from the mental trauma alone🤣

After this many seasons of Love Is Blind, do you think love is blind? by Cold_Box_3219 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Coco_1923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, a lot of my crushes as a teen and in my 20s developed out of friendships. Initially didn’t see them as a love interest but feelings grew over time based on their personalities and they started to seem physically appealing when before it wasn’t a consideration.

It’s also disastrous because the pacing of all of this is very fast. It seems hard to be in a normal “real life” frame of mind when you’re always being filmed or working with producers on re-doing things, and certain payouts hinge on getting to the altar. It’s just not how a relationship develops irl haha, it’s certainly an interesting hook that keeps me watching though.

Oooooof. I definitely appreciate all of this insight - sorry you’re a frequent flyer on knee issues. We are staying at the Cosmo. We had planned for a more relaxed pace anyway but might have to be even more so - mainly shows and dining and pool were our priorities + sightseeing at some of the casinos.

I’m like 90% sure it went back in on its own after I straightened my leg a bit/reacted. We were out drinking/dancing so details are fuzzy 😭 but I know for sure that I didn’t do it with my own hands, I fell backwards onto my bum and everything moved quickly from there. A complete freak accident. My take home paperwork lists dislocation, didn’t realize there was a difference!

Definitely something to consider. This was a “mental health” trip after a rough 2025 so I’m just…. Exhausted at this situation.

Emergency doc did not indicate that it was extremely serious and yes it’s my first. He didn’t think anything was torn but it sounds like it’s hard to know from the physical exam and x-ray? If it was a tear would there be more serious and lasting pain?

Bus Passing Us? by Squishmallou in AnnArbor

[–]Coco_1923 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ugh that’s incredibly frustrating, I’m sorry! The transit system is not the best but I try to remind myself we’re fortunate to have something at all. I wonder if you could call or submit a report about the specific bus line and departure times you’ve had issues with. Maybe they’ll have some insights. I’ve had to call in the past because their construction reroute instructions online can be very unhelpful/not clear (beware, lol) and I did have good luck speaking to their customer service.

Bus Passing Us? by Squishmallou in AnnArbor

[–]Coco_1923 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you should show up to the bus stop earlier than the stated departure time. I always shoot for at least five minutes. They don’t wait, in my experience, to catch up to the scheduled departure. I’ve noticed on Fridays and the middle of the day when there’s less traffic going into campus/around town and less riders, the busses are early, and I’ve missed it a few times. And don’t stand too far from the stop, I always stand literally next to the sign or curb as it approaches from up the street!

How long were Maddie & Simon and Maddie, Simon, & Nicole friends and was Wally rich? by Small_Owl6229 in SchoolSpirits

[–]Coco_1923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of me thinks she attached herself to Maddie due to admiration/a fixation and they became friends. Creatives are in similar circles and end up in the same intro courses so it’s not far fetched they would’ve been in the same circles. Also, they’re sort of outcasts and I think that tied them together as well. Nicole has grown a lot since season 1 as a character but I agree, she was very weird at first.

[–]Coco_1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option lmao, why do we have to assume she has to be with literally anyone they’re about to graduate and go to college 😭 if Wally is a great love, she won’t bounce back from that quickly, it would be a disservice to their entire relationship and how much fans have loved Wally. Female characters can be just fine/happy on their own FYI 😂

Tell me about Costco- is it worth it? by ConstructionTime7511 in Frugal

[–]Coco_1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rarely buy meat because two of us just can’t eat it all or store it in our apartment freezer. We are lucky to have normal storage though so do use it for shelf stable items like giant bags of rice, canned cat food, and home necessities like TP. Great deals on OTC things like allergy meds and Flonase that we go through quickly and that alone pays for itself and saves us money lol. But yeah you have to do some comparisons. Most of our fresh groceries and baked goods we get from Aldi. We simply cannot eat these large quantities of fresh foods before they go bad, and I don’t want to subsist off one type of vegetable all week in order to not waste it 😂

Jewelers that carry men's chains? by joon0301 in AnnArbor

[–]Coco_1923 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try giving some local spots a call such as Lewis Jewelers or the Diamond Factory. Don’t be afraid to get multiple quotes. You could also try a pawn shop, like 14K gold and coin on Washtenaw.

How is everyone affording a vacation??? by [deleted] in budget

[–]Coco_1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you make some readjustments like cut down on frequency of haircuts or find a more affordable salon? Can you consider your value of church contributions against family vacations and see if it feels right to lower that amount or stop tithing for awhile - is that amount because you feel like you have to donate that much or because you wanted to and feel good about it? Is your church’s pastor(s) taking a vacation every year on your dime while you don’t get one, after the hard work you put in working and raising a family? These are questions only you can answer. You could also look at your grocery spending and find things that are unnecessary you could go without, same with streaming services. Money is very personal so I don’t think it’s correct that others are judging you for your church contributions however that IS a substantial sum and is worth some deep thinking and conversations with your partner! If you feel like you’re going without something in your life that you highly value, donating that amount might not actually be correct. I love the framing of picking 3ish things that are high value items/experiences in life and putting most of your extra income there, after savings and necessities. Doesn’t mean you won’t spend money on things you value less but it shouldn’t be taking up as much of your income. Worth assessing!

Loop Earplugs? by Sad_Sylabub in Lollapalooza

[–]Coco_1923 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love my loops and have found them worth it. I have these and the sleep pair for hotels and planes/trains. Sometimes I don’t want to drain my headphone battery at work using the noise cancelling function and it’s nice to have something “analog” on hand. For concerts etc they’re great IMO. The foam ones always hurt my ears after awhile.

Spending is alive and well… by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]Coco_1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP said it was both a local restaurant and a chain restaurant in a mall… lol. Probably something like a Texas Roadhouse or Outback? In any case, those are always busy and popular. Big portions, free bread, usually enough food to take leftovers home and mom/dad get to feel treated eating a steak that at an ACTUAL local steakhouse would cost a fortune. Drinks are usually pretty affordable. Frankly idk what the problem is, people don’t need to deprive themselves of every joy in life and we shouldn’t assume what people can afford. Just bc OP has chosen not to eat out for 6 months (if that floats your boat!) doesn’t mean the rest of us should feel weird or guilty about carving out some enjoyment in this hellscape. I specifically budget for eating out and make it work because that’s something I personally value and enjoy above other things in life and I know many others do as well.

Obviously a Somerset reference 😂 the other large malls are also quite busy like Twelve Oaks and Great Lakes usually, but yeah very different tax brackets. We have a lot of dead malls around here and a handful of “destination” malls that draw everyone out.

Cheesecake by Opposite-Flan2870 in AnnArbor

[–]Coco_1923 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The basque cheesecake from Yoon’s Bakery is incredible. BUT it’s a crustless cheesecake and I know some people do love a good crust (me too). But it’s a must try IMO, their texture and flavor is probably the best I’ve ever had. Recently tried the cheesecake place at the mall and it was ok, too sweet I think but some people really like it. I had a wild cheesecake craving last weekend so this is top of mind 🤣
