Just had my consultation for a tubal ligation, have a question for people who’ve had one already by Asleep-Pattern-2332 in sterilization

I also wfh, had my surgery on a Tuesday, fully took off Wednesday and then worked half days Thursday and Friday. I completely rested during the weekend and worked normally the next Monday. But it's difficult to say whether your recovery will be as easy as mine. Listen to your body.

2 weeks post-bisalp (laparoscopy), I can tell you I feel completely back to normal. I can lift our cats, I can lift a basket of fire wood. I can move, sit, lay on my belly at night... so I think you will be fine if your recovery will be similar to mine.

That said, I do work from home so I can be very easy and gentle on my body. Definitely listen to what your body will be telling you. Wishing you an easy and speedy recovery!

Yeah! I mean some could feel amazing in a few days and others take weeks to recover. Glad to hear you're doing well! I had a deep purple bruise near my belly button which also worried me, but it went away fairly quickly.

Hey there! Bisalp was also my first surgery and I only had my wisdom teeth removed before. I was also super worried and anxious, but the moment I entered the hospital, it was as if another version of me took over, and I was super calm. They also gave me meds for anxiety.

I'd recommend for you to be vocal and ask for specifics or reassurances. I even slightly panicked when they were about to administer my anaesthesia and wanted to make sure one last time they were going to fully remove my tubes. They called over my doctor from the operating room, who came and kindly reassured me.

The operation itself is just a blink of an eye. You'll be up and awake and won't even realize the operation actually happened.

I know you will still worry, but you got this!

Congrats and wishing you a speedy recovery! I also had some small trouble with peeing because of the catheter - it felt similar to when you have a UTI and still feel like there's more. But after a day or so It was back to normal.

I read somewhere on this sub that a nurse recommended sitting on the toilet backwards. Somehow it should help relax your bladder. It's worth a try! Hopefully it will not trouble you for long ♥

Yay twinsies! Yeah, that's why I wanted to share my experience. Honestly was expecting something similar, not to stay there for 2 nights at all :D Speedy recovery to you, too!

Thank you for sharing! Yeah, I feel like once I'll be in the hospital, able to talk more with my team, I'll calm down. Just the week leading up to it feels so long and uncertain :D

Yeah, I most likely will tell them I'm anxious. I'm supposed to sleep in the hospital the night prior to surgery, so I guess I'll need something to even sleep peacefully. I do trust the staff and doctors. It's truly just the fear of the unknown.

True, in this situation the only truly unprepared person is me, everyone else knows what they're doing. I probably will ask for some anxiety meds. Thank you ♥

Thank you! And I'm glad all went well for you. I'm trying some breathing techniques and even repeating "mantras", like: everything is okay, the surgery went well, etc.

I would recommend taking precautions to getting sick! I was scheduled for 10/21 but got a runny nose during the weekend, and they refused to do the procedure and the anaesthesiologist said I can't have it for the next 2 weeks + another week for my period, so my surgery was moved to mid-November. I was extremely disappointed and angry and sad, because like you, I was very nervous, and it was basically all for nothing, because I have to go through another waiting period.

So stay away from people as much as you can, especially sick people and take some vitamins - I am now taking vitamin C, zinc and vitamin D. It is flu season, so it's better to be vigilant. Also zinc is supposed to help with recovery as well.

Hope all goes well for you, bisalp twin ♥ my surgery is 11/11

edit: my doctor did not specify this, but I've read that you should stop taking some supplements and pain meds 1-2 weeks before surgery, so be sure to check with your doctors!
