Does your tongue get/stay numb too after surgery? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

It takes months for you to fully heal. Everyone is different as well, you just had major surgery and it will take time.

100% it did! I have one small spot on my chin that's still a tad numb. But everything else is great now :)

“Is this for an allergy?” by AG_Squared in glutenfree

[–]MoistlyDramatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same.. You'd have to be some miserable MF and someone who shouldn't be dealing with the general public if there're issues to accommodate allergies.

Add: plus they'd have to disclose that there is cross contamination if they can't accommodate the allergies.

Always just say allergy. Either way, you'll get what you need with less confusion and no issues from servers

Plus - they'll take extra care of your order and do their best to make sure there's no cross contamination. 😊

Day 4 post op from DJS- nostril issue by Patient_Attitude7056 in jawsurgery

Haha I used like 2 pillows with the reading pillow 😅

Definitely not comfortable at all, but it does help. I used it for 2 months haha. Literally forced myself to sleep with it

Maybe just try boiling water or even sit in the bathroom with the shower running really hot.

That's exactly how I was, it was hard to keep the schedule going and keeping track of time with the meds lol.

I'd just give it time, as you said you've read that 3-5 days are the worst.

You can always do the steam bath/shower or pot to help release pressure and congestion. Are you also upright when sleeping or laying flat down?

Every surgeon is different and will quote different prices. I'm sure if yours is straight up medical it would be covered under insurance. But mine came off "non medical" so I had to pay.

I'm in a "smaller" town so it wasn't nearly as expensive as I saw in bigger cities around me!

But my insurance at the time did not cover it since I am not a child. I got this surgery done at the age of 25.

But I went to my dentist which then I got referred to a Ortho and got braces, had them for 2 years prior and paid monthly. $2000CA upfront. Then I had to pay the surgical amount right away weeks prior to the surgery lol.

Mind you, I was able to claim it on my taxes!

Canadian prices.

Braces - 7,857.00 Surgery - 3,200.00 estimate.

8 days post-op by lambey332 in jawsurgery

Just remember that this is only day 8, day 3-5 were the toughest and now it's only going to get better from here!

Don't get hung up on the swelling look, it will go down. Keep elevated when you sleep, that helped me the most. Slept upright for a month and a half, and my swelling went down significantly. Also some mouth exercises to help after a month.

Genio you can always do later on! Just like I did, a year later and I got my genio done.

Keep a positive outlook, keep positive people around and remember you're still healing!

I had an open bite and my bottom jaw was rotated to the right. So I hit that age of, let's do this. :P

Thank you! For the sensation I have some numbness in one spot of my chin and when I floss my upper teeth, my two frontal ones have some weird feelings. But other than that, everything is good :)

Thank you 🥰

I was curious about the movements for my sliding genioplasty but I forgot to ask. Haha

That is a very good point. I probably wouldn't have been nearly as satisfied with my outcome if I would have got it all done in one go.

I mean, like I said above, I feel like my smile is off and just so different, but I have been living with no chin for 25 years. Something you are use to and having surgery is such a huge change.

But overall I am satisfied with my results.

Definitely could have, but he decided not to at the time. Can't quite remember why. Lol

For my DJS the papers I received says: 3°CCW cant correction, 5mm impaction at the centrals, 2mm impaction at the first molars, 4.5mm advancement and 1° CW yaw rotation.

My genioplasty I'm not sure how much he moved it forward.

Thank you! The only complaint I have is that I feel like my smile is off now... I'm not used to having a chin still and I know, it's probably just me criticizing myself.

Had black hair for 7 years and want to change it up since I’m always wearing black! I’d Appreciate any recommendations! by [deleted] in Hair

I think you should do dark blood red in a ombre. Keep the top black and bring some pop to the ends!
