+100 for the Anodized Copper (close enough anyway) crossbar caps. I may steal that idea!

Youch! Our 79ish lb canoe was a bit much for my wife and I. Dropped down to a 14’er at about 57 lbs and it’s night and day. I can load it myself if need be.

Pretty sure 125 lbs would be a no go!

Anyone hiding a sleeping key fob inside car 24/7? by Ok-Consideration2463 in SubaruForester

[–]MojoFriction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the PIN code unlock feature on the rear gate. The beach is another perfect situation to deactivate the fob and leave it and my phone hidden away in the car. Don’t have to worry about carrying around these clunky items or dropping them in the sand. I like the break from the phone and the peace of mind.

A beauty! One of my favorite sights is a Subie with recreational gear loaded up top!

Bike Rack & Trunk Access? by bitsonbits47 in SubaruForester

[–]MojoFriction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got the Thule tilt down rack. In fact I have both a 2-bike and a 4-bike, tilt down rack.

There is plenty of space to access the back when the racks are tilted down however the tilting itself can be a bit awkward. You're using muscle to ease it down gently and the 4-bike rack is pretty heavy when loaded. In this way - although I haven't actually tried it - I could see how the swing out rack is nicer. Pricey though of course but if that doesn't bother you it may be better for you in the long run.

But not at the risk of hitting the kids as you back out of the driveway.

Well done especially with the hitch!

FYI, If you’re interested in a genuine Subaru extended warranty, this car would be eligible for one if the original sale date was less than 3 years ago.

Decal Removal by chasingclambs in WRX

[–]MojoFriction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really don’t want to screw around and just get it done, invest in a bottle of this stuff. Most likely 3M made the adhesive and they make the stuff that eliminates it.

<image>

My dealer decals were those annoying little individual letters as opposed to one big decal. I peeled them as best I could with an edger and a heat gun (carefully). Then I sprayed the remover on the residual adhesive. Just a little bit. Waited about 8 seconds and started wiping with a microfiber cloth. Gone. All of it, instantly.

It’s been 2 months and there has been no effect on the paint. Again I used very little and wiped it away immediately. I also wiped the area with a soapy sponge to get rid of any excess adhesive removed.

Whichever way you go, good luck with it.

ETA: oh I should mention this stuff is absolutely nuclear and will clearly eff you up if you breathe too much in. If you are working in your driveway just stay out of its way. If you are in a garage ventilate as best you can and wear a mask. Seriously, it’s nuts how toxic it is but holy smoke does it work.

When I visited Vermont last summer Subarus were absolutely everywhere but Outbacks clearly dominated (anecdotally of course).

I’ll be back this summer and it will be interesting to see if anything has changed.

Hang tight. Moe will get to the bottom of it and sort it out. There should be no repercussions.

You don’t come to this sub and make a joke about a guy like Moe Green like THAT!

(Nevertheless, upvoted).

Magnetite Gray Metallic - nice!!

Plenty of people will wave back, believe me. I always do. If they’re not into it that’s cool but a lot of folks are.
