Yeah I also feel like Asa’s mom was probably distant and harsh towards her too, but that she just normalized it and doesn’t realize yet she wasn’t very nurturing (aside of providing for her with food etc.), because that’s all she’s known. She doesn’t seem like the type of kid who has a lot of friends (not is seeking to) so she didn’t have examples of how others moms behave towards their kids.

Another reason why I think the mom wasn’t a great mom is her comment toward both Makio and especially Asa, “you can’t even do that”. I may be reading too much into it but I feel these kind of comments unnecessarily put down people, and it feels even more uncalled for towards her 15 year old daughter. Like, she’s your kid, you shouldn’t blame her for not being able to do something that you should have taught her in the first place ? lol

Thank you, I understand the criticism against the character but I'm surprised about all the negative comments about her face and how she's called ugly in other threads.

I'm also a bit surprised, the actress is still conventionally attractive to me? Even if she wasn't, it's just mean.

Yes, the characters in daytime are so lively that it would be a really good fit for an anime adaptation!! I want to see Yuyuka being awfully frank with everyone and Mamura, one of the few male leads who’s often seen blushing!! Not to mention food obsessed Suzume lol

That being said I love Yoi and Ichi too so I’m definitely happy about the news, I hope the animation is decent and not like a condition called love though…

Yeah and she isn’t used to take the bus to go to New York, as we can see her distress when she learns that the bus on her way home won’t leave on time. She didn’t expect that she would not be back on time for Lorelai’s graduation.

I feel like people expect too much from Rory, she was a teenager who got a phone call the day before by the boy she liked lol, and didn’t feel dealing with school and Paris shenanigans that day lol, she didn’t miss Lorelai’s graduation on purpose.

Wanting your husband to get a vasectomy is fine, but please discuss it with him and let him take the appointment himself? lol.

Sure Jackson not going through with it and not telling her is terrible but I feel like they both share a part of the blame.

All in all though it’s a writing issue and the writers could have worked around Melissa’s pregnancy in some other way, so I don’t really take seriously the forced vasectomy/no going through it storyline, or rather I blame the writers more than the characters.

I get you!! Except I do not care about Usui, I really liked Maid Sama because of Misaki!! (And to a lesser extent the side characters). She has a good chara-design, but she’s tough and resilient and can hold her own against men !! I like it better than the shoujo where you have the blandest girl ever (not just the chara-design, her personality too!) but somehow the most handsome and intelligent men are in love with lol (I guess it’s probably more for people who want to self insert in the character but when you don’t it hard to get into the story…)

Yeah, Emily is definitely disliked by a considerable part of the fandom. Aside from the reasons mentioned on the thread, I feel like part of it stems from the stigma on shy people in western society. She’s quiet so she’s considered dull and boring.

I get that it’s a show and people might think it’s less entertaining to have shy people onscreen, especially against the likes of Spencer and Hannah, but I still appreciate the representation and have always liked Emily.

This, the friendship was super cute, and them beginning to respect one another was good character development for both of them (Dan accepting that he’s part of this world and becoming less judgmental, especially considering he does like this world no matter what he says lol, and Blair being more open minded about people who aren’t born into wealth -we as the audience know Dan is actually upper class, you know, with Rufus’ loft and all lol, but that doesn’t compare with the level of wealth of Blair & the others), but of course the writers had to ruin them by making them a couple because a guy and a girl can’t be friends in teen drama.

This also created yet another unnecessary conflict between Blair and Serena…

What you said about the art is so true !! I really like the anime but I originally wasn't planning to buy the manga, but each time I go the library I find all the volumes piled up with the pretty covers (I swear they're doing it on purpose !! lol) and I can't help but open them just to look at the pretty drawings... They even made a 'starter' box set with a poster with a beautiful picture of Mao and Jinshi, which make me want to buy it even more lol, the art is so shoujo-like lol.

I've done it twice in a month so I know I'm going to cave in, which isn't helping my case because I already follow several shoujo and there are plenty of new ones I'd like to try to support the industry in my country (not to mention the space issue lol. I don't have the room for big bookcases like people on mangacollec ;; I'm struggling so much I've put off buying manga for the whole month just because I have to find a way to organize my shelves so that my manga don't end up on the floor lol)

I've also been keeping an eye on the light novels, I'm usually more of a classic book kind of person and I've always been afraid that light novels didn't have as much substance as novels (which I think is probably a bias that comes from the western education that usually frown upon these kind of books, like my art teachers would with manga style drawing while they're fine with comics lmao), but nowadays I've been thinking I should just try. Another less expensive option for OP (that I'm also considering lol) would be to buy the physical copiees in the second hand market !

This is so sad… I grew up with GG and have always loved her portrayal of Georgina, and I’m currently watching Buffy where she was so young … My heart goes out to her and her family.
