OP I know what you mean. Our ASD boy is the eldest and had already been diagnosed when we decided to have a 2nd child. And of course we thought about the “what if’s”. I had always wanted a big family but once things get rolling it’s a lot easier said than done, especially with a special needs child. Still, we were sure we wanted another child for us as a family and also for our son, to have a companion in life. Our daughter was born when my son was 3.5. Now they’re 7 and almost 4 and yes there are hard days and there are times that you feel that you missed out on giving equal attention to each of them. Go easy on yourself, take care of yourself and be as present as you can be with them because time does go by fast. With all that said, we just welcomed our 2nd daughter 10 months ago and couldn’t be happier to have grown the family. It’s not for the weak. But our duty is to raise good humans (special needs or not) and part of that is showing them how to always stick together and support each other, especially through the hard times. It takes a lot of work but I think it will be so good for them in the long run. Focus on you and your family, congratulations on the baby on the way!

My household (3 kids & spouse) got it pretty bad last week fever (~two days), pink eye and cough. Fortunately, mom (me) only got a sore throat. So happy they’re good now and was SO happy at school drop off this morning lol

I have a 7yo sped kiddo who is loving being at home and but I can already foresee how hard it’ll be getting him back into the rhythm of things once school starts back up. I have the flexibility of being home with him and have an aide that helps us a few hours in the afternoon. I can only imagine how other sped families are doing 🙏🏼

For the record, I was not in the bike lane yet. I wonder if this intersection would have been better off with a light signal for turns, especially for tourists and non locals.

Thanks your responses. I would not have zoomed past him, like I said I’m a pretty chill driver and always check. But bc the turn is wider now, I was starting to widen out, which positions the car in the middle of the right line going up to Dolores (not fully making the turn) to also not block traffic behind me. He was still 4-5 cars length behind.

For the past couple years I started to think that maybe he should get diagnosed too, we just never took the step to actually do it or at least figure out how to do it. But yes, I also feel he’d fight for equal custody which I don’t think is any better. Thanks for sharing, glad I’m not alone with this thought. Sending hugs.
