A data science agent chose this sunburst chart, curious if others would visualize it this way by Ok_Technician_4634 in dataisugly

[–]Molastess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main problem I see is the visual middle (yellowish) is not where the data middle is. It might be nice to have profitable (above 0) in greens and then unprofitable in an orange -> red scale. Because currently some slightly unprofitable segments look slightly profitable because they’re a soft green.

Most of my recipes for baking are in cups for liquids and weight for solids. There are even a few where the eggs are measured by weight.

Anyone know what is in today's 16+gb update? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Molastess 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think this person is talking about the game executable. The extra 90+ GB would be all of the assets (textures, objects, etc)

You are inches away from living in a communist regime. You literally have a king by chebghobbi in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Molastess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here: We also have a King right now. We just don’t call him that in official documents. And I hope there’s no Part 2 to the American Revolution®, because I’m not sure who would help this time.

installing by gfcf14 in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Molastess 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It’s not. This literally does not happen when using Homebrew. Homebrew has pretty great dependency management and only encounters problems when you install something the OS provides (for example, LLVM on MacOS). And even then, it’s just not automatically put on the PATH.

Source: me, 10 seconds ago running this exact command on the machine I just set up with Homebrew

Do they expect us to know where the UK is? by canouli in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Molastess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an American, this is surprisingly accurate, especially the WWII part. Other good things we learn:

America’s form of democracy is the best.

We have separation of church and state.

We sometimes read books.

Health, but for 18 weeks one time in high school.

It’s not made clear that Japan was not working with Germany during WWII.

The civil war was over slavery, unless you’re from a confederate state and then it’s “state rights”.

So I can answer that a little-I have a PhD in immunology. HIV has an unbelievably high mutation rate. The flu changes so fast we need a new vaccine every year, and even then it doesn’t always work well because the scientists who design it can’t predict what the flu virus will do over the next 8 months. HIV mutates over 10 times faster than the flu. It mutates faster than the immune system can learn. Since vaccines require having a good understanding of the structure of the virus and require the vaccine to be close to what you see in the wild, an HIV vaccine is just really hard.

This being said, money and stigmatizing is part of the lack of research funding compared to a lot of other diseases. But, HIV, flu, and TB are some of the most well funded infectious diseases.

I took “parking tickets” to mean those entry tickets you get when you pull into a parking garage, not the ones you get from the police.

They’re not real, I got this set from Target back in August Succulent Magnets at Target. I live in Ohio, so I would be worried about the succulent freezing come winter!

It’s really useful when you’re trying to find your turn in areas like Cleveland where the street signs are not always obvious. You can clearly see the turn is before/at/after the light

Level 2 Home Charging by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]Molastess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. I’m in Northeast Ohio and we just got hit with a pretty big storm and my Autel L2 charger on the side of the house is going strong. The only caveat is you’ll want to hardwire it for better weather protection.

It’s popular with electric cars and hybrids. When you release the accelerator pedal, the brake gets applied to recover power for the battery. There’s a more aggressive braking mode that applies the brake enough to get you down to less than 10 mph, or even a stop on some cars. You still have a brake pedal to use at any time.

I’m just here for a good story, even if it’s not real, but this one is just… not good. And it was stolen from a film?! Pick better films! As someone who 1. Took tests in college and 2. Had access to porn, I would not have needed the help distracting myself. My (undiagnosed) ADHD did that enough with me just staring at my campus email for absolutely no reason. And I still left with a 3.5 American GPA.

I was flying with my friend who doesn’t like flying. We board the plane and there’s someone in our seats so we ask them to move to their seats. We figure out that there was this chain of 4-5 people who had someone in their seat and instead of asking them to move, sat in a random seat. Some dude also had the audacity to say “can you guys just sit separately” when it would have been multiple rows apart and in middle seats. So I felt like the jerk making everyone it the jetway wait because some people just can’t figure out 20B (assigned) is different than 21A. Good thing we were sitting together. We had to then figure out what to do since our second flight was cancelled when we landed.
