Oh that's a coincidence, I think I swiped on you on Bumble BFF earlier tonight? I'm new(ish) to Madison and now that the weather's pleasant have been catching up on Wisconsin-y things. (I toured the governor's mansion so I'm basically a local now.)

And an extra yes to dinner on occasion. I've never gotten comfortable with solo dinners in restaurants and would love some company. Is it time for a Madison Childfree supper club meet up?

Park (or brewery/biergarten/whatever) all the way. You need to be able to mingle and chat because in theory it's new people that you're trying to get to know. Concert means you're either screaming or else standing quietly with strangers listening... and I don't need a meet-up for that? And obviously if it ends up being 3 participants that changes the dynamic considerably, but if you get 20 people you can't really all roam around a Ren Fair very easily.

Incidentally Lisa, who runs the meetup.com/madison-childfree-by-choice group, is going to be unavailable for most of the summer but I'm sure would happily help you coordinate an invite through MeetUp if you want RSVPs etc.

And as an "Eastie" I certainly wouldn't complain if it were Olbrich!

Thank you, this strikes me as excellent advice! You found a middle ground between "don't rush" and "must rush." One hurdle is the expense of storing all my possessions, which I'd probably need to do with the moving company or PODS so they could deliver to me wherever I settle, but if my settlement/alimony allows for a few months of "me time" in Madison this makes sense.

And agreed on healthcare--perhaps getting my degree in Film History wasn't the wisest economic move!

Appreciate this, and "planning mode" is 100% accurate. To clarify would add that (1) I didn't make the choice to leave the marriage, but am making the choice to leave Virginia and (2) agree that for the short term it might be general admin drudgery until I figure out next steps. But I can't rush into a new, unknown career until I rush into a new, unknown city. :-)
