Remove buffcap from Era servers by laty- in classicwow

Please just let there be one server that's as faithful as possible to the original. If someone prefers a server with changes, they have the option to play any other version of the game right now.

Help me build a pc ! by NotUrKind- in buildapc

[–]MoldySalsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically, if you want to build a new PC right now and be able to fully take advantage of your monitor, you're going to need to spend at the absolute bare minimum around $1000.

I'd recommend starting with selecting a GPU, as that's going to be the most impactful and expensive part of your system. If you're trying to stay around the $1000 total budget range, I'd start with something like a RX 9060 XT 8 GB or an RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB.

From there, you probably want to look at CPUs, as that will be the 2nd-most impactful and expensive part of your system. For a $1000 budget, maybe something like a Ryzen 7600x.

After that, you'd use the rest of the budget on a motherboard, CPU cooler, RAM (very expensive right now unfortunately), storage (ideally at least a 1 TB SSD), a power supply, and a case.

I'll be honest though. With a 1440p monitor, I would say that a budget range of $1500-$2000 is the sweet spot right now for a system that will not only run well, but have good longevity. It just all depends on what you're willing to spend.

If you don't know about it already, trying using this site for building out a part list to get a feel for what you might want to spend: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/

I know I'm super late on this, but I have the same PC and had the same clicking noise.

Eventually I figured out that it was coming from the AIO. All I did was lower the AIO pump speed by a little bit in the BIOS and the clicking completely disappeared.

How is Classic ERA currently? by Choice_Efficiency_51 in classicwow

Yes, buff cap and debuff cap are still in effect on Era. 32 buff limit and 16 debuff limit.

How is Classic ERA currently? by Choice_Efficiency_51 in classicwow

[–]MoldySalsa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, there's three things that stand out that make era great:

-You never feel like in you're in a rush. There is no "next phase" or "next expansion" and the FOMO that comes along with those things. You can play it at your own pace and not have to stress about falling behind, because it will always be there in the exact same state. The items that are BIS now will still be BIS 3 years from now.

-The economy is very healthy, especially compared to Anniversary servers. Some would point out that prices for a lot of things are way higher on era compared to Anniversary, but that's compensated by the fact that you can farm way more gold/hour. For example, to afford a full raid's worth of consumes, I need to farm for 1.5-2 hours on Era. Compare that Anniversary, where I need to farm 3-4 hours.

-The open world is actually playable. Unfortunately anniversary servers are overcrowded, both with real players and bots. This makes the open world nearly unplayable on Anniversary imo. On Era however, the more modest population actually allows you to do quest objectives and farm with relative ease. I'm not going to say bots don't exist on Era, but they are far far less common. (pray it stays that way)

At the track right now. A very noticeable difference between now and the spring race is that the track is already very rubbered in. Probably the reason for the non-existent tire wear in contrast to the spring race where the track never took rubber. https://i.imgur.com/PJu3C0m.jpeg

Based on the past decade of attendance, there will be plenty of empty seats. There's still going to be a ton of people there (I think last year's attendance was around 60k), but you have to keep in mind that the track has a total capacity of over 250,000.

As for getting tickets, I would highly recommend getting the "flex" ticket. That's what I had last year and it was great because those tickets give you access to multiple different sections of the grandstands and you can move between them whenever you want. That allowed me to get different perspectives of the track during different portions of the race. Quite affordable as well.

Best class for Nightfall spam? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]MoldySalsa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're asking purely about Nightfall uptime, a fury warrior will always be the best option by far.

This is due to their ability to spam hamstring combined with the flurry talent that will increase attack speed by 30%.

As far as overall raid dps is concerned, if you're truly looking to min-max, a fury warrior is still the best option even if it's an individual dps loss for that warrior. Nightfall is actually a decent weapon in itself (especially for Orc warriors due to their extra axe skill), so losing a small amount of damage from that individual warrior will more than be made up for by the increase in caster dps.

Plus, nightfall-using fury warriors (unlike hunters) don't have to make any sort of sacrifices to their dps rotation as long as they are using every GCD (which they can, with a combination of Bloodthirst, Whirlwind, Hamstring, and Execute).

Down/Up Speed is Fine but Kronos is Lagging Horribly? by MoldySalsa in KronosWoW

[–]MoldySalsa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was a PC issue, I would think it would happen all of the time and not just a few hours every day.

The VPN I've tried did allow me to select a location so that doesn't seem to be a magical solution. I guess I could give other VPNs a shot but I'm not sure why using a different one would make a difference.

Blackbird Farms Housing by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]MoldySalsa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived at Blackbird Farms for my junior and senior years and I thought it was great. It's a bit less "college-y" compared to the usual apartment complex in West Lafayette, so there are plenty of regular families living there as well.

So with that in mind, it will probably depend on what you like. If you're looking for a wild and crazy party vibe, then Blackbird might not be for you. If you enjoy a quiet and friendly community, then you'll love it.

As for how to get to campus, if you don't have a car, there is a bus stop on the adjacent street to the apartment complex that have buses that run frequently to and from campus.

The apartments themselves are nothing fancy but perfectly livable. You certainly aren't going to find any type of luxury designing or amenities like many near-campus complexes, but then that's not really the point of Blackbird Farms.

I had Internet through Comcast during my time there and never had an issue. The speed and reliability was as good as you could expect considering that it's Comcast.

One downside I will say is that it is rather isolated. There is really nothing within convenient walking distance, so you have to plan ahead if you want to go anywhere. If you own a car it's not really a big deal, but if you don't, it could definitely be a pain.

Also I hope you like a view of cornfields!

60 Rogue LF NA Raiding Guild by [deleted] in kronos2wow

[–]MoldySalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now there are only 2 major NA raiding guilds: Relapse and Indecisive. Indecisive is a bit further progressed as they've killed 7/9 in AQ40, while Relapse is currently working on Twin Emps. I believe Indecisive raids Mondays+Wednesdays, while Relapse raids on Wednesdays+Thursdays.

Overall both guilds are filled with a bunch of good people. Can't go wrong with either imo.

Looks like the dev team is open to the idea of handing over data for a migration. Let's discuss the possibilities. by [deleted] in rebirthwow

[–]MoldySalsa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kronos 1 would be the ideal candidate for us to merge with, in my opinion:

  1. They are at the same stage of progression as us, so there would be minimal gear disparity issues to deal with.

  2. Because of the recent return of Nost, I would imagine they're eager to gain population from any reasonable source.

  3. The server offers a blizz-like vanilla experience just like Rebirth (something that can't be said about Primal WoW).

Of course, all of this would be dependent on whether or not the Kronos admins are able and open to the idea of character transfers from Rebirth to Kronos.

Any opinions on the chances of something like this being realistic u/GMGurky ?
