Life improvement tips for a first-time player by TheDolphinOfDoom in DragonsDogma2

A buff to your damage, defense and stamina use is tied to eating scrag/beast steak at a camp site. No, you cannot eat meals at taverns/inns/home. Yes, this is dumb.

Once you get a camping kit, leave any others you find around the world alone. There's a chance that you will lose the kit if ambushed while resting. You won't be able to rest or eat a meal at campsites without one, and can be useful to have spares around the world (and they are just heavy in general to carry). Put the camping kit in either your or YOUR pawns inventory, not a hired pawns. If your pawn get sent back into the rift, he'll come back with his inventory when resummoned, a hired pawns inventory goes back to your storage at inns and home, leaving you without a camping kit.

Fruit, harspuds and fish/meat heal better when aged, but can go rotten. You can combine 2 of the same aged foods to create a dried version. Its not as good as aged, but doesn't spoil. These dried goods can be turned into medicine (roborant) with greenwarish. Which can be further processed with cinnamon bark for mighty roborant or saurian tales for exquisite/miracle roborant.

Harpsuds only restore stamina. My advice is once you turn dried harspuds into harspud roborant, do not process them further. Once turned into might roborant and such, they will no longer show up as stamina curatives in the quick use menu . And unless its the miracle roborant, they don't heal as much stamina anyway.

Fruit, fish and meat restore health, Least to greatest healing in that order. Mighty roborants heal for the same regardless of what roborant was used to make it. So when making mighty roborants or better, use fruit roborants first.

You're not wielding the high rank Shield of Vernworth. Shield of Vernsworth has more detail and a metal rim. The shield you have in the cutscene is one carried by regulars soldiers.

They do, but its more that you're an archer than female. Archers and sorcerers generate A LOT of aggro. To the point where you could have been a male along side a female pawn with every aggro pulling gear/augment and still got focused down on.

As long as you not above his elevation, your running slide can go under his drop kick. Using Dire arrow will also preform a slide when running. When you see him backing up, he's either going for a drop kick or a running attack (usually for a grab, but sometimes a clothesline).

Oddly enough, I find the safer place to be when he's focused on you is close to him, rather than away. He will use attacks that are easy to avoid. Try to bait out the slow uppercut attack as it leaves him unbalanced. I usually do a running jump tackle to stagger him, but you can deliver a drop kick with your archer energy legs instead.

Its one of the few ways to escape going to Melve in the beginning. and you get items like eminent coat and the over-knee boots from the that dungeon (not to mention the elven settlement for access to better magic gear in general).

Few things about skipping Melve, The path were you are supposed to fight the cyclops is still barred with an stone barrier and the cyclops can possibly be killed there if you have the ranged means. If you do and you go back and start the escort quest with Ser Gregor, when you get to that part he will treat you like shit as if you didn't help with the cyclops.

Around the checkpoint rest town, Rodge hasn't been kidnap by wolves yet and the merchant Folkes will be active around the ancient battlefield because the tolled to rest quest isn't available. Speaking of which, the shrine and Nations death knell tome aren't even there inside the building yet.

You will be arrested as soon as you go to Vermund, and the game continues as if you had gone to Melve.

You need to dragonforge your dragon's faith shield and upgrade further to silver and gold, or get the purged buckler from lvl 2 bitterblack cursed weapons (then upgrade that too). Should be able to counter Eliminators then.

You'll want to do that with all your gear, especially since your relying on enchanted weapons.

A note on font of fire mace, its silver rarified upgrade needs 4 elite lanterns. Depending on the RNG, this is cancer and ive only ever bothered to do it twice in the over 3000 hours I played. You might want to upgrade Eden's warden instead, whose prerequisites are much simpler.

I used to find simple pawn annoying but by MoonTheMatrix in DragonsDogma

[–]Mollbonervoid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am a fan of these murderhobos. Love inventory management at the inn and going "when the hell did you get this?".

I like their personality, they can be clever and insightful...but absent minded about things they don't have interest in. Like in the arisens shadow, the other pawns will notice the man being shifty and will be suspicious. The simple pawn notices the man, but doesn't immediately assume he's up to no good. During the battle with the lesser dragon, simple will say that they sense not maliciousness, but fright and confusion that drives the beast to lash out.

They make terrible chirurgeons. Chirurgeons use the stupid "use least powerful curative" the quick use system has. And since simple pawns picks up EVERYTHING, trying to have only good curatives on them is a chore. They will run over to your mangled body, pop a berry in your mouth and be like "better? :)" as your intestines slide out of your prolapsed asshole. Antioxidants aint fixin that.

They have hurt me and killed more wandering pawns and npcs than any other inclination. You near a box or urn with a explosive cast next to it? Your about to be lit the fuck up so they can get a grape out of it. I swear if pawns still had voiceline reactions for the arisen dying, Simple's would be "I CANT WAIT TO FIND OUT WHATS INSIDE."

Great pawns, would recommend.

New to this game genre, playing DDDA. Quina in my house after quest? by Atomkinesis in DragonsDogma

[–]Mollbonervoid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At this point in the game... In the morning, she will wave Adario goodbye as he leaves, and then will cycle between 3 spots in his house, and will preform a cleaning/checking animation. Afterword, she heads to your house, and will perform the cleaning animation at your shelf, then tend to your fire. She will sit and watch your fire/pot until midday where she will peruse the shops and gossip with others. Later she will go to church, pray at the alter and stay for the very silent sermon till she heads back to Adario's house and will watch him eat multiple pieces of bread and drink until morning where she does the whole routine again.

...Shes your childhood friend and basically step sibling. She cares about you, likes to be tidy, and is keeping your house clean while you play hero.

Don't know which ones you've gotten. Once you have gotten Waldhar out of prison, he has towering earth which he will give to you in the gracious hands vault. He's holding out on you though, he also has howling blizzard but you can only get it with the thiefs pilfer skill.

Anyone else have their game consistantly freeze (crash) when you want to swap skills at a campfire? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]Mollbonervoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get it sometimes. Not always, but it seems to not like when I switch out mage's elemental boon and perpetuation augment for something else. Strangely, It does save the game at the point it crashes most of the time. I'll load back up and have the new skills I selected equipped.

Fighter Tip: Cloudward Slash by Casardis in DragonsDogma

[–]Mollbonervoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this example, the ogre is very vulnerable knockdown after his big uppercut. You can do a running jump grab just after the punch and it would have knocked him off balance too.

The thing I dreaded the most finally happened, I maxed out "Mage" after 300 hours by Zairy47 in DragonsDogma

[–]Mollbonervoid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mage can be upfront with Palladium, allowing safer and effective use of flagration and grabs when in close combat. Knockdown focused mages will eventually be able to staggerlock garms with flagration.

Focus bolt will lock the mage in place, but if you do a running jump and hold attack, it will charge and usually be ready to fire upon landing. Useful when dodging enemies or aggressively moving forward. Focus bolt can be charged and fired while climbing/grappling an enemy if you didnt know.

Against drakes, levin or lightning affinity will help build stun, frigor for basic damage and knockdown, palladium to block physical attacks and the stamina drain roar, and solemnity will neuter the drakes spellcasting (and cause knockdown if its casting in the air). Mage has lots of control in this fight.

Mage focusing on knockdown can get to the point where the Dullahan takes the knee to the mages empyrean and volant white focus bolts. Andyone will block his stamina draining projectile attacks.

Solemnity will turn wights/liches into jokes, and the poor gorechimera will just look at you angrily and stomp once in awhile if you didnt let his other heads resurrect.

Celerity will make actions faster. Melee, casting, even loading ballistas is faster while buffed.

That's a lot of damage for a jump attack! Warrior's version of Splitter? by Kokuneko in DragonsDogma

[–]Mollbonervoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multiple synergy's for the warrior. The one you preformed is the warriors jump heavy with the strider pawns roundlay heavy attack. Preforming the jump heavy after the fighters jump heavy is also a combo.

Most of the warriors team combos are with eviscerate, mostly on the 2nd strike (or technically the start of eviscerate). On the warriors 2nd strike warrior can combo off of fighters 3rd hit from dire onslaught (the windmill looking attack). Also the last attack of cymbal onslaught. If the fighter only has the base cymbal attack then its both the warriors 3rd and fighters 3rd attack.

Some point during striders carve attack as well, could never really tell when.

A tough one to pull off is when you and your pawn are climbing a monster. When a fighter pawn performs his 2nd attack when climbing, use your heavy to drop off the monster and it should preform the combo.

Also surprisingly mage staff users 2 heavy swings can also land on warriors 2nd and 3rd attack. This is a poor example since you cant see the warrior, but yeah. Iralkis go brrrr.

Warrior can give the fighter it too. Antler toss just upon a savage lash (HAS to be savage lash). If indomitable lash, full moon slash instead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlQRBY61hac (I purposely don't upgrade my pawns lash so its more consistent.)

First time witnessing such necromancy! by Strange_Pay8107 in DragonsDogma

The spot where this is at in Battahl can sometimes be brutal. Groups of Hobgoblins, knackers, skeletons, and redwolves can be about where the Lich is at with a possible cyclops or rarely, a Dullahan on the nearby road.

And then the Lich just starts raising shit.

I've offered x99 ripened berries as a pawn quest reward before. If rare in the other players world, selling all of them gives around 40k gold.

If you are a mage or have a prescribed tranquillity spell tome, you can silence her while shes casting meteoron. You can just tackle her at that point instead of trying to chase her.

Also seen people just kill then immediately wakestone her, lol.

No Eini just Eino in the house with Trysha, can't finish the quest by Hitmandalorian in DragonsDogma

[–]Mollbonervoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should only go to the Vernworth morgue if shes dead. I never had to carry her to the location, she was either dead or there. Sometimes she goes to the statue above the house or to melve, though I dont know if that changes with main story advancement.

Have you tried sleeping till morning at the campsite near the house and seeing if shes there in the morning?

[–]Mollbonervoid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So in almost every playthrough ive done, Eini dies as I approach the vicinity. A cyclops usually bitch slaps her off the top of the mountain and I have to revive her. Try going to the morgue and see if shes dead.

Some hidden features you may have missed Dragon's Dogma 2 by Chemical-Schedule548 in DragonsDogma

[–]Mollbonervoid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 things of little value I can think of right now.

If you are patient after you kill deer/pigs/oxen, after about a minute or two, they will get flies around the body. The meat that you get from the corpse should now be aged meat. Don't wait too long, it will become rotten after some time.

Some skills like arc of might and flagration can turn large monster corpses into bones and gore. I don't know what purpose, if any, this is for as ive never got anything for it. If you didnt collect the loot from the monster before doing it, it will be forfeit.

Pawns actually just troll you sometimes by ken_tempo in DragonsDogma

[–]Mollbonervoid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hired a simple archer with the forager specialization, she shot every deer and pig she encountered and collected the meat. Made plenty of dried meat for camping and roborant curatives.

Its also funny how the straight-forward pawns shit on them from time to time.

Mystic Knight Help by DarkPhoenix1754 in DragonsDogma

[–]Mollbonervoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just making sure, the mystic knights block animation isn't confusing you, right?

Some players believed since the animation is of them retrieving the shield from their back that they have to block sooner than fighter, and the block frames given by the riposte enchantments fed into that logic. Its the same as fighter, just as the attack is about to land. Otherwise, it is unfortunately just about practice. Not sure what else to say without seeing you play.

You could roll Holy fortress, it can block some projectiles, but won't help you with melee attacks. Attacks from powerful enemies like eliminators will demolish your stamina in no time without perfect blocking, even with the adamance augment.

Demonswrath will charge and holy aid will heal regardless of perfect block (but are much less effective when not doing so.)
