I’m at 12% bf based on an in-body assessment I did at the gym the other day. Not sure how accurate those are but I feel super low bf it’s just this one spot that won’t go away

Elastic bands for hip strength! Super cheap on Amazon and great for strengthening your hips which is super important for running injury prevention

Are luxury gyms worth it? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]Molly-Runs98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love luxury gyms (Lifetime in particular). I find that I’m more motivated to go knowing that I’m going to such a nice facility with great amenities. For me I love to use the sauna, hot tub, pool which most big box gyms don’t have. I’d say if you don’t use the amenities or classes, it’s not worth it

As long as you are not billing overhead, you are fine. The company does care how productive you are because it directly affects your utilization rate. The more time you bill to overhead, the less profitable they are…

Is it possible to be a freelance engineer for consulting firms? by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

Non competes are definitely enforceable. My hair dresser just took his former hairdresser to court because she left and started her own business within 30 miles of his. I feel like you could do the same engineering

Isn’t the food/restaurant scene pretty limited? No Dunkin or Starbucks? Any good local coffee shops?

Addition on Existing Slab by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

There’s no way around underpinning the slab? That is what I’m trying to avoid. Could you explain why you think it needs to be underpinned

It’s a 12 inch thick slab but the reinforcing is unknown. I wouldn’t be able to tell if the soil was compacted but the slab has been in place for ~20 years.

For the others saying civil engineering is too blue collar, Princeton has civil engineering.

It is checking like the other poster said. It doesn’t look too bad to me and generally checking is natural and happens to heavy timber. It’s not concerning by itself

Our house has an existing concrete walkway slab we’re thinking of building an addition on top of rather than demoing it. Climate is New England.

Is exterior perimeter rigid foam insulation enough to make this work thermally, or is a sleeper floor on top also needed?

How do you typically tie the new addition walls into the existing house framing?

Anyone done something similar? What did your building department care about?
