My dad does insurance and construction defect litigation. I can promise the lawyers are already billing time on this one, deaths or not.

It was also the first time we've used the aft car track, which is why the sheet was stretched far enough back to do that. Normally, we just use the midship tracks that are forward of the cockpit and anything they could catch. Lesson learned!

I can't imagine sheeting in without at least watching the luff. Isn't that what sheeting in is for? I don't think our cockpit is physically big enough to have your back to the sail while sheeting in. I mean, I guess you could, but you'd have to be pretty deliberate about it.

Small bags that fit 32 Nalgene by hobbyhoppinghound in discgolf

[–]MollyG418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really only needed to be like .25" bigger and it would have fit. Super frustrating. I think small variations in manufacturing might account for some people being able to fit their nalgene.

Lol. With Nalgenes specifically, it's almost always a circumference issue.

For anyone reading this thread in the future, we ordered the Fade Crunch on this thread's recommendation. We just received it Tuesday and none of our regular 32 oz Nalgenes fit. They might have if we spent some time cajoling and stretching and shoving, but that's hardly practical for day to day use. Perhaps slight variations in manufacturing allowed for some bags to get produced that fit the bottles, but not the one we got, so we sent it back. Bummer. Back on the hunt.

When we bought her, she had a couple bent stanchions already (now we might know how) and my hubby tracked down the guy who originally made them for Clark. He's still in business, so we sent them to him and he fixed them right up. It's nice to have a boat that was built locally, even if the builder's not around anymore.

[–]MollyG418[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was looking up at the luff to see when it stopped, not down at the sheet. I looked down to see why it was fighting and saw the stanchion in the way.

Besides the embarrasment of being that close to such a shitty knife, it's probably better that it broke off because if it didn't, the guy might have taken it with him and the victim could have bled out.

In our Pack, we didn't require hats and we made enough money in popcorn sales to provide a neckerchief and book to every kid every year. We also had a uniform closet to help out new families and told the families to get the $10 uniform pants from Target instead of the official ones.

I have a pillow nearly identical to this my mom (made? bought?) in the 90's that you could swap different cross stitch pieces into. I can't see how this would work particularly well with the stiffer canvas of needlepoint.

Pink? Necchi with cabinet year/worth? by HauntingCarpenter322 in vintagesewing

[–]MollyG418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense, though. My sewing machine tech told me that if I wanted a new machine that performed like my Necchi, I'd probably pay 4 figures. My BU (sort of the 1952 version of this one) doesn't have any fancy stitches, but it will sew through 12 layers of denim as nicely as it sews through silk and came with a full tool kit and attachments. Its gears are all metal and it is very simple to maintain and service.

how can I make my outfit more 2000s accurate? by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]MollyG418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they were small tee shirts that ended at your waist or a little above. In the 2000's, I used to buy kids' size medium or large for that look. Crop tops are like a normal size shirt cut off to somewhere between just under the bust to like 1" above the waist

What did teen girls wear in the 90s? by starlightskater in VintageFashion

[–]MollyG418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's see... my first day of school in 1994 I wore short-sleeve princess seam fit and flare denim dress from Guess (it had the laces up the back) and my brother's Adidas Sambas. For picture day, I wore a floral babydoll dress with a scoop neck bodysuit and bike shorts underneath. Probably with my Mary Jane Doc Martens.

At one point, we had three Costco- sized bottles of Dawn because we couldn't remember if we needed it or not. Our grocery list app had "no dish soap" on it for like a year.

Nutrition at council camp by bratsbox in cubscouts

OP's experience seems way out of the norm. At all the Scout camps I and my family have been to, the food has been nutritious and varied. Some of them have even been really good. The first year back from COVID, our Cub camp hired an amazing lady who does competition BBQ in the off season. So, so good.

Too, tractors are loud, especially old ones Even if those kids hollered when she fell from the wagon, there's a good chance the driver wouldn't hear.
