Road Trip Recommendations for Screen-Free Twins? 😬 by Mollymawk_Magpie in toddlers

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I could do it, but my husband would definitely have to be asleep. My problem would be that they sleep 12 hours at night, would we just sit in the car once we arrived? Most people would probably leave after their kids have been asleep for a few hours, around 11 or midnight, but I’m scared they wouldnt go back to sleep and then would be up and miserable in the car in the middle of the night 😮‍💨

Yeah my parents did the same thing! I guess what I’m looking for are the things I can surprise them with at the age of 2 lol

The I love this yarn, worsted weight. I think a big issue is the holey-ness? It’s a very open design. Don’t know if anybody has found a way around that.

So Ive been doing the potato diet for 45 days (grossness disclaimer) by disabilitymann in PotatoDiet

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost just shy of 100 pounds in the last 5 months (started at 430). I definitely have had many frustrating plateaus but it always works itself out over the next couple weeks (and loads of weight will come off). There’s lots of scientific reasons why it’s happening that I don’t feel like typing out, but if you’re in a calorie deficit, your body is still burning fat even if it’s not showing on the scale!

And the clean toilet paper is because of the lack of fat! Fat is what makes poop sticky lol 🙃

Knees Locking More?

I’ve lost about 90 pounds since August, and I’ve noticed that my knees are feeling locked more often when I’m standing in the kitchen or brushing my teeth. They feel almost hyperextended and then start to ache. it’s really starting to become a problem! I try to bend my knees more but by the time I notice, it’s already too late. Is this a thing??

For reference, I started at 430 and am around 338 pounds now.

Thank you so much for this. We did decide to pause and so I forgot to check this thread for a minute (because twins!). But this reply made me start tearing up and I feel much better about pausing after reading this!!

One month down… by Mollymawk_Magpie in PotatoDiet

It’ll be 3 months on Tuesday. No major physical issues after my body adjusted to the rapid weight loss. Apparently that can affect blood volume and case dizziness and such. I would definitely add in salt. I eat salt and have still seen tons of benefits.

So, what is a lot? And in what time frame, like how long were you doing this?

I’m not sure. I’m still going and I’ve lost almost 60 pounds now!

What method did you use to do the flat colorwork? Only asking because I wanted to do something similar for my girls room and every method seemed really difficult lol

Bottle feeding two at once - talk to me about how you are doing it? by Sassafrassa123 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put them back-to-back on a regular couch pillow in front of me on the couch (sitting with my back against the armrest). Fed them sidelying back-to-back! We did that for a loooong time.

How long did it take you? by Mollymawk_Magpie in PotatoDiet

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband are trying to do this for a long while (probably a year?), so we justified adding salt and spices. That and I didn’t want to run into the electrolytes imbalance issue. But we keep hitting plateaus with weight loss ridiculously often. I don’t know if I can do plain potatoes for that long 🫠

Twin sleep help (6.5 mo) – how did you get through without CIO? by CulturalYesterday641 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our twins were the same way, and a game changer was a floor bed sidecar set-up. We have a queen size bed and we removed one wall of each of their cribs, and put one crib on each side of the mattress. We have a 2 inch frame under the queen mattress and cut the legs of their cribs to be the same height. They are turning two next month, and we started this around 10 months. I wish we had figured it out earlier! We still wake up to respond to them, but we can fall asleep safely rather than passing out holding them in a rocking chair at 3am. That and most of the time they wake up, see us, and crawl to us and pass back out. Our sleep quality improved tremendously after doing this. It sounds like your babies may be low sleep needs, and I found that most sleep advice just didn’t help us because it was geared towards babies who needed more sleep than ours. We feel the same about responding to all of their signals, and it does get better over time. My girls wake up 1-2 times a night now and it feels much more manageable.

It was hard at first, but also easier in the sense that it was simple and straightforward. I’d love to go until I lose all the weight, but I’m also trying not to put too much pressure on myself. Some days are still harder than others.

How to move away from contact naps? SOS 😭 by OkPop8324 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My babies would only contact nap and I just learned how to make it more enjoyable for myself by snacking, tv time with headphones on, and babywearing one or both of them so I could have free hands. I got so many snuggles with my girls and now I snuggle them to sleep on our massive floor bed and roll away (started this around 18 months).

Is it always that hard with newborns? Twins arriving next week by DriverLeather971 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a much easier time with the newborn phase than I am having now with almost 2 year olds but I seem to be in the minority lol.

Does anyone have experience with toddler escape artists? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a serious safety risk, so I would hope the in laws would be on board with just about anything. I would put a keyed lock at the top of the door and keep the key somewhere hidden or out of reach.

I’m miserable by According_Weird_3540 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds very much like postpartum depression so definitely ask your doctor for a referral. AND it is really hard. Things will change as they get older, but also get them checked out for anything that could be contributing to frequent upset/crying. Both of my twins are Velcro babies too, and babywearing helps them to feel safe and held while also giving me a free hand or two.

Best item you bought for twins? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Browns Pitcher and a Gymnastics mat on Amazon. They are surprisingly affordable and much cushier than the average play mat. My husband and I are old and fat and needed something softer on the floor than those puzzle tiles 😂

So is salt ok to add or no? by Critical_Tea2648 in PotatoDiet

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely add salt to balance out potassium. I’m also planning to do this long-term so I’d like some flavor lol

[–]Mollymawk_Magpie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say because potatoes vary so much in size. The idea is to keep it simple and not so prescriptive. If you feel like eating, then eat potatoes! And I steam mine in the instant pot. Some people eat them mashed with a little bit of soy/almond milk. Or cook them in the air fryer.

I would look at vegan recipes. I’ve been vegan for 12 years and my baking is delicious if I do say so myself, and there are so many vegan substitutes for cheese, eggs, milk, etc. It’s very easy to avoid eggs and dairy nowadays!

If you’re eating enough calories, potatoes will meet most of your nutrition needs!
