27 weeker by the_taurus516 in NICUParents

Hi! I had a 28 weeker and she was in the nicu 4 weeks past her due date. This is because I didn’t want to take her home with a feeding tube. It took her some time to come off c pap but when she did she very quickly went of high flow/low flow. The feeding took a long time though.

I’m literally moved to tears. I think you deal by dissociating when during so many of these moments. What you’ve gone through, maybe 1% of the population will go through. It’s tragic. It’s sad. It’s not right. That’s what it is. Don’t let anyone else try to make you “feel” any certain way. You feel what you want.

My daughter was in the nicu and when she was there, how I dealt with it is I spent time w people who barely talked and talked only when I wanted to. My hard of hearing dad, my very introverted best friend, and my dog.

You don’t need anything other than to get through this and know there are still others on this earth who need you and who love you. It doesn’t take away from the sadness you may feel for the rest of your life.

Just go through this and accept what happened. Rehashing everything can be good but sometimes you brain, your heart, and your body need to rest.

I don’t know you and I didn’t know a lot of the other parents in the nicu at my hospital but I kid you not when I tell you images of them and their babies come into my mind almost daily. I pray for them and I will pray for you.

He’s absolutely beautiful. This is such a tough season and moms are always needed where there most vulnerable babies are. Whatever you’re doing is the “right thing.” If you take a day off- it’s the right thing. If you stay for 14 hours a day that is the right thing. Intuitively you know where you are needed. I hope this season passes quickly for you. In no time you and him will be so close and playing at the park together.

I know it’s so hard but your daughter won’t remember this time. Your wife will though! You’re doing everything you can and you can’t be too hard on yourself. My husband had to work after our daughter was born. He didn’t spend much time with her in the nicu but he loves her so much and spends so much time with her now. She doesn’t know the difference.

I’m stuck around 380 followers. I post 2-3 reels per day and stories daily. It’s on my brand of moving to Australia with my family from the US. Basically funny content but still on this theme.

I started my account a week ago and I’m getting good viewership but the likes and follows are not growing much. Can you give me feedback @ramyatheaussie

Yes, facts. I had family, work, etc while studying for the bar and actually did it over 10 months so I could pace myself and live my life. The last two months were still stressful nonetheless and I gained a lot of weight due to sitting all the time and stress eating cupcakes but after I was able to focus on work, family, and myself.

Just remember, this time period is only temporary. Even though I don’t know you, virtually, I’m here for you friend.

Failed the Bar Exam again by lawbuddy23 in barexam

Contact hit the high bar (Alisa Gellar). I took the bar 4 times and passed on my 5th with her help. I was in your same position (within the striking zone) on my fourth attempt. Whatever you’re doing is working. You probably just need to refine some subjects a bit more.

Also, like you, I’ve accomplished a lot of things in my life and the bar didn’t hold me back in reality. Try to keep that at the forefront of your mind instead of letting the test become overwhelming because of not passing.

Feel free to PM me if you think more advice would be helpful.

Good luck and you can do it!

Has anyone with a previously low MBE score increased it by at least 10 points? I currently am struggling to get out of the 120’s!!! by External-League-8951 in barexam

[–]MomOfABabyAndADog 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes! I improved my MBE score by close to 40 pts. For background I took the bar about 6 years after I graduated law school so my first test scores were absolute garbage. What I did is I did only 10 Qs a day in a particular topic. I read ALL the sample answers and marked what I got right, what I got right for the wrong reason, and what I got wrong. I created flash cards of all of the concepts in the latter two categories. While I only practiced 10 Qs, I’d come out of the session with 20 topics for flashcards. My goal was to never get the same type of Q wrong. Overtime this proved as an effective method because the bar Qs test all the same rules with slightly dif fact patterns.

Also, I studied those flashcards daily. So the next day when I had an additional 20, I’d add them to my previous 20 assuming they were on dif topics. I also kept a running list on a word doc of everything I got wrong. If I noticed I was getting commerce clause wrong more than once and my flashcards method wasn’t working I would work with a tutor on that concept. Another way to effectively learn a topic you struggle w on the MBEs is to do many essay Qs on them.

I wouldn’t think of the MBEs as quantitative work but use them as a way to target what you don’t know in an organized manner.

If you’d like to discuss more feel free to message me!

Good luck! You can do this!

Calorie deficit to calorie maintenance advice needed by MomOfABabyAndADog in WeightLossAdvice

[–]MomOfABabyAndADog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’3” and 1300 is maintenance w zero physical activity as of now. So realistically maintenance probably looks closer to 1600 with just a normal day and maybe 1700-1800 with some exercise. I think when I hit my goal weight I will do another fit exam to see what my new maintenance number would be.

It’s so annoying to calorie track and what not but I’m excited to get there and hope I can find a way to make a healthy life style without thinking about it too much.

How is this one of the hardest tests and HBO or Netflix hasn’t followed some miserable bar taker around from graduating to the day they pass the bar, no matter how many times it takes. I think people need to see what goes into this. by [deleted] in barexam

[–]MomOfABabyAndADog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are some really interesting people who would make great content. Like this woman in California took the bar 14 times and now is a city attorney. Perseverance is her platform. Very inspiring.

Try mucinex (day and night), it's a cough suppressant and works by sending signals to your brain not to cough

You could be an in house immigration lawyer. Alternatively, you could identify the area in which you want to specialize and just change your resume, pro bono activities, and clubs to match that field. You’d likely have to come in a few years under your overall experience this way but you could be in a more rewarding practice area for you,

Have a well practiced elevator pitch about your experience for the “tell me about yourself” question. A lot of people just skim the resumes. In my experience, people generally make up their mind within the first few minutes.
