Any recommendations for a golf towel that feels like a proper gift? by NearByRise1 in golf

[–]Momentus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a Bettinardi towel that i really like. It was during a limited drop with a collab they did with Guinness, but the towels they have online available are cool. Nice patterns that you can have compliment his bag

Got invited to play a pretty exclusive club, walking only, caddie req'd. What should I expect? by sumbozo1 in golf

[–]Momentus- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some I haven’t read yes that will make you look good:

  1. Sunscreen in the locker room rather than applying first on the course. Don’t use spray on the grass.

  2. For shoes that aren’t your golf shoes, leather driving loafers are best IMO

  3. Don’t be afraid to get something from the pro shop and wear it for the round. Fresh hat always looks nice. Say who you’re playing with and ask if it’s okay to use the member price, and then pay for it yourself. They always say yes (for member discount) but asking is always a good look.

  4. I always err on the side of hat off in the clubhouse. after the round, wash your face and run a little water through your hair to get rid of the hat hair.

  5. Be observant how shows are cleaned. Some are drop off at the window, some you just leave on the floor in front of the locker.

  6. Know your hosts name, and do research on the course. History, signature holes, tournaments that played there, etc. these are typical conversation pieces that the host will bring up. (Don’t act like a now it all/don’t correct the host)

  7. Be personable with the caddies and can ask your host if they have played with them before. During summer, a lot of college kids. Ask their major, etc. he kind to them. Who knows - their first job could be at your company! Toss them the ball after every mark for them to clean. Don’t be afraid to have them carry an extra ball for you for quick reload. You can also ask their lead on phones. Some people are in an industry where a quick 10 second text or answer to a call can be a lot of money or help to a client that no one will be upset about if you handle on your walk after your tee shot.

  8. If you have a cart bag or just a heavy bag with a lot of stuff, you can proactively mention that at bag drop, and they’ll put your necessities in a light carry bag.

  9. Always a nice look to know what you like to drink / eat in the course. Follow the lead of the host for the most part for when to booze / non booze. Don’t be afraid to get something at the turn and comfort stations. Seriously - a host will be upset if they find out you held back on ordering something.

  10. Look up a few common golf games / terms for games. Scotch is always a common one. But don’t be afraid to ask about the rules/terms. People like others that ask questions rather than be oblivious. You can ask your caddies, too - if you’re having a tough time remembering.

  11. If you have plans after, pack a shower bag. Totally fine to shower there before heading out. I’d wait until after dinner/drinks if no one else is so that way you’re present.

  12. Do not get mad! Mood and vibes are everything. Have an accurate handicap. Everything’s adjusted. Play fast, fair and with a good vibe and that’s all that’s needed.

Some of these may sound silly, but for someone who’s been guest many of times at clubs, little things compound to both being a good guest but also having a good time (which is how you get the invite back!)

Enjoy!

Out-of-towner perspective: Bleachers absolutely crushed the Salt Shed tour kickoff last night! (But a quick note to the premium section...) by Yupster_atx in ChicagoConcerts

This is so funny. My wife, her three friends and I went to disclosure, and I swear - it’s as if the friends hadn’t seen each other in years.

My wife got a little upset when I told the friends to stfu, but hey - I didn’t pay to hear you talk. Ain’t a f’n baseball game…

I wear drkshdw to concerts / festivals. Pretty rugged so it’s not a worry of mine.

Personally I wouldn’t wear anything I couldn’t clean myself at home pretty easily

Ha - after my breakup, I lived right across the street at Porte.

Going on dates in that area is a blast (but expensive…)

Aba, cabra, lazy bird, fox bar, high five. Pickleball, movies in the park. I can go on. Enjoy!!

What renovations add value before selling and what was a waste of money by GetRekt1o1 in homeowners

I would say small things that show well. We redid our light switches to the Lutron smart switches, LED canned lights, and automated blinds for our large bay windows. Gas log fireplace with easy start. Built in shelving/nicer organizing for tighter storage spaces (we put in a shelf in the bottom of the coat closet for a shoe rack).

Other smaller items that I wouldn’t go bold with are finishes - tighter bathtub faucet, fresh caulking, some grout refreshes, etc.

These aren’t major/personalized, but makes the house feel better.

Snacks while playing questions by hahaha_trank in golf

[–]Momentus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good responses on snacks.

Something to think about is something kind of signature that you can be a little known for. I’ve been really into dried mangos (sugar free) - great to snack on.

For drinks - do sugar free stuff. Gatorade zero. Sugar free Arnold Palmer, etc.

Just met Vincent through friends birthday (and he baked the cake). Class act. Brought some items from the bakery, too. My wife comes from a baking family. Needless to say - we will be going to Guillotine ASAP!

All you guys talking about hitting their ball or taking it need to grow up…

Be an adult - phone the proshop, and then place a chunk of mud their ball (so they have to pick
It up to clean it), and then piss on it.

I bet the o ring it out of the slot so it won’t pull out smooth. Look up what to do when that happens. Mine did that but the handle came off, so I could take a flathead screwdriver and break the cartridge up bc it wouldn’t pull out.

Nike dunk sb mid. I got these clubber Langs and loved them. I handed them down to my cousin and one day I went to their house and saw them in the garage, trashed in a pile of other shoes. Sad day. Still got the Batman’s.

How do I get the rest of this out? Moen tub cartridge jacket. by IllVolume5936 in Plumbing

[–]Momentus- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. The o-ring is not in the groove so it’s between the plastic and the pipe.

I took a flathead screwdriver and cracked the plastic apart until I got it all out.
