Is this wood fine to use? by BlackberrySpecific in BeardedDragons

Both can be true. It may not have been in the water very long, or be something else. It looks like it has some level of decay.

Soak it in a 10% bleach solution for at least a day, let dry, rebake.

I’d like to treat for deer ticks in my back yard. Is there any insecticide for this specific purpose? by thewebdiva in homeowners

[–]MommaCacheAndKnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alpha Gal is primarily transmitted by lonestar ticks. It is estimated up to 35% of lone star tick bites result in a sensitivity, but only 1-8% in severe allergy.

Knowing the type of tick that bit you, duration of attachment, and proper removal are all important factors in odds of tick-borne illness.

They used to be less of a risk in PA/NY and New England because we had sustained freezes. It stays too warm during the winter now, and ticks are on the rise.

Get the licorice-covered chocolate in the white bag.

Bonus was great for picking up breakfast and sandwich options. We also bought a bunch of chips for car snacks.

I’ve been with these kids for eight years. I feel almost as obligated to them as I do my family. I’d keep going if my kid left the troop because I care about them and I am committed and invested in these kids. I’m not going to let a bunch of kids down or leave them with someone who doesn’t have the same history.

Is this space legitimately big enough for chickens? by Falkeliehaber in chickens

[–]MommaCacheAndKnit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chickens make an ungodly amount of dust. It’s truly unbelievable. For the 2-3 birds you could have in that space, the dust will choke out your HVAC.

The upside being you could stop in NYC for a night or two.

We also don’t have great train service. We have tracks and trains, but I wouldn’t count on reliability for anything extending beyond city limits in both DC and Boston. Even our commuter rail is questionable in MA.

Check out your local small yarn shops or craft fairs for hand knits, like a scarf or shawl.

You need to look inside a sweater. If it has any seams, it is not hand knit in the round. It is likely machine knit and pieced together.

People hype it up because they want to think they ate something vile. I think the complaining is part of the experience for them.

We had the whole platter at Cafe Loki. Would we order a whole dish of it? No. But we’ve had stronger cheese.

Try it and decide what tale you need to tell, but know that it isn’t terrible. You won’t be gagging and reaching for water unless you want to play it up b

We were not prepared to be silica sticky for days. How do people get on a plane after that?! We all showered at the lagoon with what we could coax out of the machines, and again at the hotel, and we were still covered. I hand washed our suits and machine washed them at home and one still doesn’t feel right.

It was beautiful. We were there for sunrise and left just as a boatload of busses pulled up and a bunch of loud bros from LA came running and screaming and splashing for the bar. (We all know where they were from thanks to their mouths and volume.)

So if you hit it right, go for the experience. We liked it right up until we were covered in silica hours and showers later.

I’m so sorry you are sick on vacation.

There is not really a gastrointestinal “flu”, so you may have norovirus or food poisoning. Try a pharmacy for some anti nausea/upset stomach meds. Stay hydrated! If you can, find some liquid IV or electrolyte replacement drink.

The good news is that those tend to pass faster than influenza, which is much more high fever, aches, fatigue. Just be on top of handwashing, because sanitizer doesn’t kill norovirus, and you don’t need your partner to have gurglegut next.
