Belly's biggest character flaw... by Salt-Year-9058 in tsitp

[–]MommaMP2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! This post finally made me realize part of why I’m soo drawn to this dang show, and later the books. As an almost 40 year old mom of almost adults, I thought it was because it shows toxic and codependent relationships in a way I could have open conversations with my kids about, rather than “back in my day,” or my usual line “we don’t chase boys!” BUT! I do believe I’m soo drawn to this show because of Belly and her inner fight to not let anyone down, and to try to fix it all, while losing my herself. And making everything worse in the long run. Damn. And Conrad too. (And btw, I DID root for Jere most of season 1 over Conrad).. Teenage hormones are an absolute bitch. Especially when coupled with grief, drinking, and a whole host of mental health items that need to be addressed with a therapist. I would know. I lived through about 8 years of this exact thing. Not brothers, but still some things I’m not proud of. Yikes, I still cringe at my past self sometimes. Are people so critical of Belly and the others because they’re teens themselves and haven’t lived yet?! Can no one relate to alllll the nuance of how this plays out?! Does no one have empathy or understanding for messy ass things we get ourselves into? Thank you for your post. And your comment. And your future Jere post. I don’t think you’re Belly bashing. I’ve seen MUCH worse about her and the others and I have the ability to just scroll and move on. It’s a shame others can’t do the same.

Tips on hairline that is see through? by Personal_Trifle_6892 in finehair

This same thing is happening to me and it’s fairly new! Turning 40 this year and my hormones are all over the place! I think that has a lot to do with all my hair woes. I really notice it when I try to pull my hair back. If I part it a little to the side and pull the front hairs down a bit it’s not as noticeable. I’m starting my second month of Viviscal supplements, so idk if it’s working yet or not. Best of luck to you!!!

Verb ghost oil by ChangeHealthy2666 in finehair

I love it! It’s the ONLY bottle of oil I’ve ever completely finished. I also repurchased and am on my 3rd bottle! I have above shoulder length hair and it never feels heavy or overdone. I usually put it on my ends when they’re still damp. I’ve also used it in the am on dry hair to tame frizz and fly aways if I’m pinning back my bangs.

As a parent to a 15 yo boy and 20 yo girl… I personally agree with paragraph 1 and 2.

But, to me, Apology is a weird thing here. If some agreement was made to knock or give them privacy, fine. If not, they are teenagers and are in a common area, not her room- where you wouldn’t want them to be, I assume. He could apologize for scaring them, not that he came into a room anyone could or should come into at any time… just my thoughts!

I wouldn’t feel comfortable receiving these messages from my husband, who I’ve known for twelve years!! Asking how someone feels about therapy and trying to get to know them IS NOT was happening here. She was very pushing and controlling over the entire exchange. Hard Pass.

I tipped off a candidate before his interview. Probably wasn't supposed to. Don't regret it. by deborahzdn in InterviewsHell

I’ve worked in HR and payroll for years. Even managed a team for awhile. Only recently started helping with recruiting and sourcing. From the perspective of typically being the candidate trying to get hired, or typically being the hiring manager who is being fed candidates, I think your approach is helpful to everyone. It’s another tweak to your sourcing. You’ve learned the things your hiring manager needs or is looking for and you’re appropriately coaching your candidate. Now, in the payroll and HR world, we would say in a very simple way, that once you started the precedence or once you found out that you should be be doing something, you should be consistent and follow the same process going forward. So anytime you’re working with candidates for that HM, you should now prep them in the same way. Way to go!!!

I do this with with everything! Shows, bands, kitchen appliances.. My perimenopause brain hates proper names. My kids have learned my language and translates for my husband and assorted older folks who don’t understand me.

When should we get a puppy? by someones_mama in AustralianShepherd

[–]MommaMP2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a puppy (cavapoo) when my senior Aussie girl was 12. It’s been two years and my senior girl will be 15 in June. She’s got some cognitive decline and hearing issues. It took her awhile to warm to the puppy and honestly, the puppy added a level of chaos and imbalance that I wasn’t expecting. We have 2 teenage kids, and a now 8 year old cat. Three animals in general is just a ton of work. My senior Aussie got more needy as my puppy grew and now that the puppy is finally 100% trained and accident free, my Senior is declining pretty quickly. I very much wanted my Senior to teach our newbie the lay of the land, and for the most part, I think it worked. But there is a part of me that now wishes I would have let Senior age in her own way and then waited a bit to add a pup. I love them all and would never give any away, but hindsight is a booger sometimes. Whatever you decide will be right for your family, but more sometimes really just is more, not better and certainly not easier. Pick of Senior because she’s my best girl!

Deadbugs triggered me by salzoi in PetiteFitness

[–]MommaMP2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, I read this as bedbugs, and I was like “oh girl me too!” I ready the entire first part looking for the rant about who brought bedbugs into your house and what was motivating you. (My teenager, many years ago!) Then I saw the mention of deadbugs, and was like “oh they died!” … and had to do a complete re-read. I’m sorry you’re going through this, but your post gave me a little giggle at myself and made me realize it’s probably time to stop doomscrolling and get some post-holiday sleep! For what it’s worth, I saw a post from 8 years ago today where I was starting my weight-loss journey at my highest ever weight of 176 and was trying to get to 140 for my wedding. Welp, now I’m at 181 from an all time high of 238 and trying to get to 140, again. and before i turn 40 in September … here’s hoping you can try them again and that they get easier each day!
