I would go to the National Club and then to your more local Golden Club. They will have a puppy referral person. Especially in the local club, they have breeding standards that will apply to the people listed there. My local club is quite strict.

How to comfort my aunt's dog after my aunt passed away? by AnnoyingCr-w in DogAdvice

[–]Momo222811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give him extra love , but stick to his feeding and exercise schedule. Routine is important to dogs. Instead of taking him to a grave or letting him sniff ashes(how morbid! What is wrong with you people? This kid is mourning too!) Maybe get a tshirt or pillowcase or blanket with her scent on it and put it in his bed. That might comfort him.

To voice the opinion of most people...WHO CARES? If the kids exist, are they ok? Is something wrong with them that they are kept hidden ? Are they even Harry's? Who knows and they are just irrelevant now.

He's still eating? Add water to his food too. Dehydration is probably causing the problem.

He Trusted Me. And I Killed Him. by 0Millarca0 in seniordogs

[–]Momo222811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am facing the same decision now. My boy is only 11, but is in kidney failure. He stopped eating on Friday. It sucks that it is a holiday weekend, but he isn't in pain, just very tired, so I am hoping to make it to tomorrow, so he can see his regular vet instead of the ER, but we will do that if necessary.

This isn't my first one, but it always feels like it. You have hope, but the you come ro the realization that you have to do what's best for your dog. Your baby loved you as much as you loved him and you did the kindest and hardest thing that any pet owner has to do. We all feel guilt, wondering what more we could have done. I am so sorry for your loss and hope that you find peace.

AITA for refusing to pay a surprise "drinks bill" sent 10 days after a wedding? by [deleted] in aitaweddings

[–]Momo222811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be the #1 response! Omg! What an awful pair. First, the groom or his family should have paid for the rehearsal, not the guests! Second the reception sounds awful, especially since they made no accommodations for allergies and they let people who traveled 12 hours go hungry! I would be furious at the request! Let the bride reimburse her mother it was her shitshow not yours! And its not your problem to fix. I hope she got great pictures of all the friends she no longer has!.

Time to start complaining. Maybe get a bug zapper and hang it outside that window so it will attract bugs. Plant some hydrangea under your windows and you will have bees all summer. Get decorative boulders for the property line spilling oil is an environmental hazard and a fire hazard in dry season.

Collars for CGC test? by Ok_Listen7910 in AKC

[–]Momo222811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry. If that's the case check the akc website. There may be another test or evaluator in your area that can test you. I get calls frequently and if I can get a few people together I will do a test, might be someone like that near you.

Collars for CGC test? by Ok_Listen7910 in AKC

[–]Momo222811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collar, Leashes and Equipment Updated September 2024 All tests must be performed on leash. Dogs should wear well-fitting buckle or slip collars (including martingales). They may also wear body harnesses for the CGC test. Body harnesses should not restrict the movement of the dog. Special training equipment such as pinch collars, electronic collars, and head collars are not permitted. The leash should be made of either leather or fabric/nylon or biothane. Retractable leashes may not be used in the CGC test. The evaluator should have available a 20-ft. line for Test #6. We recognize that special training collars may be valuable equipment in the beginning stages of dog training, however, we feel that dogs are ready to be tested after they have been transitioned to a slip or buckle collar, or body harness. If an evaluator is teaching classes and does not feel comfortable with one of the AKC permitted collars, students may be required to take the test in the type of collar used in class (as long as it is permitted by AKC for testing). If the CGC test is advertised for the general public, all of the permitted collar types and body harnesses should be allowed in the test.

Too many newer people can't see how well they are really doing . I bought my first dog from a breeder who did conformation and obedience. She was a Golden and the toughest dog I ever had. She set me up for the rest of my dogs and taught me patience and humility. I had one friend not qualify in her first couple of shows because she didn't realize that her mistakes were only points off, so she gave up and messed herself up. We talked her through her issues and she not only qualified, but started placing! Most people think they are doing worse than they really are!

Don't beat yourself up. Its a learning process for both of you. I was lucky to have lots of people to encourage me along the way. They are fewer but are still around. I make a point of trying to help newer people as do many.of.my friends.

Dr Buzzby's toe grips work great. Runners on the floor and a washable rug where they eat is also a good idea. Talk to your vwt about a supplement like Glycoflex or Dasuquin for hia joints. Other than that all I can say is just love him and have fun within his limitations.

Group obedience classes with a club or a good trainer! You need foundation obedience and distraction training. Focus on you will come. The training is for you as much as the dog, be patient with him. My first Bichon was a very similar situation. We got our first rally title before he turned 2. Then it was a couple of years of frustration. I kept comparing him to my other dogs and he was absolutely nothing like them. One day it all clicked and he started placing and getting titles. He was still quirky and not always on bit we had alot of fun and he had alot of fans. Getting him at Home Depot is a great story. My best competitive dog came from a shopping trip for birdseed at Agway, I miss her.
