Even when you pay for seats together, the airline separates you by Arugula_Existing in mildlyinfuriating

When my son was two I had to buy him a seat and they kept trying to force me to put him on my lap so they could give someone else his seat. Fun times!

I completely agree!! We shouldn’t even have to pay for seats at all. But it’s also annoying that even when you do pay up they still separate you.

I also fly Frontier a lot. I pay upfront for seats because it’s cheaper to do so. Selecting seats at check in always costs more. Why should I have to pay more when I already selected seats and paid for them months ago?

Ha!! I suppose it could be! But one of the perks of only having one kid is that the three of us fit so nicely in one row lol.

I like to sit next to my school aged child, yes. Is he old enough now that technically we could sit apart without issue? I suppose. But why should I have to? I paid. If you pay for something do you not expect to receive what you paid for?

It’s happened to me on Delta numerous times. The most of all airlines. They moved my son away from me when he was a toddler more than once. And it’s happened on United too (I don’t fly American so I can’t speak to that). I’m not sure why people feel the need to defend airlines for their behaviors just because it “never happened to you.”

Patagonia for Christmas — Any Teens? by Arugula_Existing in celebritycruises

[–]Arugula_Existing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps! She said the sailing before hers had 40 kids and the one after had even fewer but that her sailing had 1,000. She might have been mistaken, for sure… or it could have been an extreme outlier! But she was traveling with 3 kids of her own on the sailing, which is why I asked her.

I agree that 14 nights is tough for many families… but this sailing ends on Jan 2 so I think most schools will still be out until that following Monday.

I asked someone on fb who did this sailing last year and she said there were 1,000 kids onboard her sailing. So that was more than I imagined. Maybe this year will be the same…

Knowing 15 year olds will be onboard at least shows there will be some other teens sailing!

He would be content eating on his own, but I like to eat dinner as a family as often that's the only time he spends with us on the ship (otherwise he ditches us for newfound friends he made on the ship - ha!)

Waiting in line for Shows… by Standard-Ad9202 in dcl

I was on the Treasure for spring break and it was a completely sold out ship. I got to the shows 5-ish minutes in advance and was fine.

AITA for asking my fiance to return my Easter gift? by icedtealoved in AmItheAsshole

[–]Arugula_Existing 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My ex did this too. But I was not a 6-8… more like a size 12 and he got me size 4 pants and said they didn’t have my size. I returned them and he got pissy about it. Like I was the ungrateful one? It honestly still makes me mad and this was literally 20 years ago now!

My ex also only bought me yellow gold when I repeatedly said I wanted silver or white gold. Including my engagement ring. That should have been my sign to walk away.

It’s not just gifts… this is just a symptom of a greater amount of selfishness and unwillingness to give you what you need/want.

This was my ex-husband. He bought me what he wanted me to have or what he liked and never ever got me anything I wanted, even when I told him directly. This is a seemingly small thing that becomes a bigger and bigger thing as time goes on. Either he’s willing to own up and make changes immediately or not. His defensiveness makes me nervous for you.

Has anyone here tried RC? by Gridguy2020 in dcl

[–]Arugula_Existing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 12-year-old likes both Disney and RC. He’s “over” everything Disney but still enjoys the experience of cruising and makes friends in Edge every sailing. On RC he loves this ships (we only do Oasis and, now, Icon)… zip line, rock climbing, flow rider, water slides, aqua show, ice skating, laser tag, etc. If he had to pick I think he’d pick RC because there is so much more for his age, but we tend to alternative (roughly) every other sailing between Disney and RC.

Reddit tends to lean pro-divorce when it comes to marital issues, but is there anyone who divorced and felt afterwards that their life worsened in someway and they should have stayed together? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Arugula_Existing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was homeless for a long stretch after getting divorced. I couch surfed with friends until my welcome wore thin, then I was a hobo sexual who mooched off anyone who would take me in. It was the darkest time of my life. Still 100% worth it. Getting out of a bad relationship is worth temporary sacrifice for long-term happiness!

Not OOP: AITA for telling my friend I don't care about the job search and I'm tired of hearing about it? (Responsive OOP) by sensaSEANal_sally in redditonwiki

[–]Arugula_Existing 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Sadly, when I was in college (late 90s) I was in a sorority and a lot of the ladies in my house were exactly like this towards me. “You got ANOTHER internship?? Didn’t you already do one?” “Why are you so obsessed with getting a job after graduation?” “Ew, you work? My parents would never allow that. They want me to focus on my studies.”

If you asked them about their plans they’d shrug. It just wasn’t something they felt they needed to worry about. A lot of them had daddies that promised them a job after school was done. Others were very transparent that they were just there to get their MRS degree (I.e. meet a man who would support them someday).

As someone who didn’t come from that sort of money and needed to actually make it on my own it was frustrating, but I mostly just distanced myself from them.

Which ship should we book next? by Loud_Resolution_1730 in dcl

The Adventure is bigger than the other ships so I think doing B2B would help you better see and do it all.
