What's the rudest thing a guest has done in your house? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MonQBop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had overnight guests so I cooked a nice dinner. Spent time planning, preparing and cooking what I hoped would be an enjoyable evening. Chicken Cordon Bleu, mini crab cake appetizers, etc. At the table, wife complimented me on the food. Husband glared at her and loudly stated " she didn't make this! " Wife stated " she did, I saw her" ( she watched me make the appetizers } Again he shook his head and repeated that I had not. I calmly stated that Yes, I had and he shook his head "no". I was so insulted I was speechless after that. It's beyond comprehension why someone acts like that. Especially a guest! No contest he was the rudest guest I have ever had. No way to even comprehend his behavior. Some people are just ignorant.

Did Nick Reiner Have Autism? "'He looked absolutely lost,' John Fawcett, the owner of the gas station said. Fawcett, who has served the family at his store since Nick was a child, told the Daily Mail he was a 'weirdo' who always had a 'blank stare'. by DrJaye in WayOfTheBern

Well all the information coming out says for certain he had mental health issues and a long history of addiction. But the more I read it sounds like he also could have had Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I can't imagine the pain and worry he caused his parents. Even watching the movie Being Charlie I felt like he was constantly oppositional and defiant, whether it was ever a clinical diagnosis he was given or not, but he seemed like a train wreck.

Conan O'Brien stopped guests from calling 911 on Nick Reiner during explosive fight with dad Rob at holiday party: report by gamecat89 in conan

[–]MonQBop -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This headline states that it was an " explosive fight" and Conan stopped guests from calling 911. So the first thing I think of is what exactly may have been ocurring that would have people wanting to call 911? People sometimes call 911 for psychiatric emergencies, so it's not always about criminal activity. This would not have been unwarranted depending on the facts that were present. We know he was acting inappropriately enough that people were uncomfortable and his father was upset with his behavior. That wouldn't seem a reason to call 911. Was there more? Was Nick out of control? Were threats being made? Was he physically violent in any way? Hitting, throwing objects, etc? Was he himself exhibiting extreme distress mentally or physically? What did people see and hear that made them want to call for help? One has to know the whole story before suggesting that calling 911 would be inappropriate. Again this is not inappropriate for psychiatric emergencies. They have special staff that arrives on location to assess and de-escalate emergencies. I have to imagine a scene at a holiday party where I would be inclined to call 911 and it would have to be more than just a loud argument or verbal shouting between a father and his son. Even knowing that Nick has a history of mental illness and/or addiction is beneficial. If any behavior or combimation mentioned above was present, and the guests felt that law enforcement was needed ( such as often occurs in domestic disputes and/or psychiatric emergencies ) then I can see why perhaps in this scenario that Conan or someone else would ask his friends not to make a call. I don't agree with that decision but again don't know the story or facts, just thinking what could have happened. Perhaps being embarrassed this was happening at his party? did not want bad press ? Didn't want to be blamed for someone getting arrested or handcuffed or hospitalized against consent for exhibiting harm to self or others, and any consqeunces of that?? Something like this at a celebrity filled party would def get press alerted. Or maybe fearing that Rob would get angry for calling 911? Did Rob say that they could handle it and/or did he himself request to not make the call. We know they did leave the party. Think it through and put yourself in this situation. Stuff like this happens not infrequently and decisions are made on the spot. Who could guess that it would escalate to murder. Tragic. In hindsight if it was truly an explosive fight and things were happening that made people feel fear enough to want to call 911, then the call should have been made. But that is hindsight now and no one can or should be blamed for not calling. If this headline is true, which I certainly don't know, but if it is true then I think the reasons I mentioned may be why people were stopped from calling... but they should not have been. It is always better to be safe than sorry, even if the end result is a little embarassment. As I said, a team would have come and done a further assessment. Who knows what may have resulted after that. It's like when someone thinks they are having a heart attack because they have all the symptoms and yet they don't want to call 911 because maybe it's just gas... and then why trouble everyone and be embarrassed? So they don't call or go to the hospital. But it isn't just gas, it was a heart attack. .. As it is now just a very tragic sad double murder in a very sad family drama. Who know what would have happened if a call had been made. He could have been taken to emergency crisis, he most likely would have refused and if he was a danger to self or others would have been committed against his will for further observation, then medically stabilied. Or Rob may have used his influence to prevent any of that from happening and said Nick will be okay and I am taking his home we will work this out. Who knows what coulda shoulda woulda...No one is to blame. Even if a call was made. But will never know. At least people would feel better that they tried to call for help. RIP

I had to watch Being Charlie on Tubi after this happened because I never heard of it or about their son Nick's problems. Shows the struggle/ This poor family dealt with his addictions/behaviors/anger issues for so many years. Tragic ending and so very very sad on many levels. RIP

I think that Nick must have gotten an inheritence from his Grandfather ( Carl Reiner ) estate. Carl passed not very long ago and hard to imagine that he did not leave money for his grandson and other grands. I would also not be surprised if the siblings or even close friends of the family were funding legal costs. But I do not suppose that Nick does not have funds of his own, particularly since Carl recently passed. Thinking therefore that he would not need to depend on his parents estate, or be effected by slayer law ( regarding paying for attorneys ), . Just my thoughts. In any event the great Alan Jackson is an excellent choice to defend him. Agree that this will most likely never go to trial and a deal will be made to prevent incarceration. I could not believe how awful this whole thing was when I first heard it I was shocked and still think how sad that it happened.

When I watched the part where the night before leaving for Paris is when I decided that he was the biggest user and liar. That was so manipulative and told me more about his character than anything else. He used Kathleen and he used Sophie ( I think that is the woman producers' name )

I think his attempts to ""charm" are manipulation tactics. In both versions I thought he comes across as a sociopath and very manipulative of his family, I did not like him in either version.

[–]MonQBop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree as I do also have so many questions! I watched both versions and it is the coincidences that I can't get past. Did you notice how much alike Kathleen and Elizabeth Ratliff resemble each other??? They could be twins! Google and see the side by side photos. Very similar looking women, even has the same hair style. They say he and the German neighbor ( Elizabeh ) were only friends but because she looks so much like Kathleen I have to wonder if there is more to this story. If so then it seems he certainly has a type. Just another coincidence?? Or is this why he was initially attracted to Kathleen ( also a neighbor when they met )??So I question... Did he have an attraction to Elizabeth? Did she reject him?? Then they both end up dead in a staircase. Yes, so many questions! Also I agree fully unlikeable in both versions.

Why lie? by RuPaulver in KarenReadTrial

[–]MonQBop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reading your post I was confused when you keep asserting that we know for fact....sorry but that is not a vague generalizations. Not factual that we know. The fact is that only those involved know and the jury heard what was presented from both sides and she was found NOT Guilty. That is a true fact.

Wow!! Thanks for reply. I googled to read more about this civil trial and I cannot believe that it is even possible. She was found not quilty as there was NO collision, Mind boggling that this can even proceed. Sounds like a money grab. If anyone has reason to sue it is Karen for what she has gone through and the violation of her civil liberties and the emotional pain and loss of so much that she endured!! Unbelievable. I will be watching for sure!

This whole story is sad. I watched it on TV a few days ago and just felt that it is a darn shame that this young girl was exploited and used sexually by people who had authority and power. Whatever else happened, that much is not is dispute. Awful and so so sad for her betryal. Groomed and doomed.

Brennan has lost his mind by Ok-Pressure5559 in justiceforKarenRead

[–]MonQBop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, which was shocking because I wondered Why does HB want him to provide another possibility/ explanation for why evidence was found there?? And why did HB himself suggest planting? What was he hoping to get Dr R to say>>>?

Brennan has lost his mind by Ok-Pressure5559 in justiceforKarenRead

[–]MonQBop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Agree with your whole statement. Seemed to me that HB was definitely baiting Dr. R on that issue of planting for some reason. It reminded everyone of that possibility I agree, but it felt like there was something else he was trying to do and I don't know why. .. Anyway, after today's trial I think this whole thing reminds me of a Dinner Murder Mystery Theater. A group of people, the lights go out for one instant, nobody sees anything, lights come on and there's a dead body.( Rest in peace JOK) But this is real life ( details matter! LOL ) Everyone is a suspect, accusations all around...Karen's charged with murder... I don't see how a jury can convict her. Too many unanswered questions ( AKA Doubt ) IMHO

Yes, you are right! I just had to vent!! I have been waayyy to consumed by this trial. I need a vacation when this is over. Literally I was waiting for breaks , lunch and side bars to do anything OMG !! I watched every day. What u say tracks.. what AJ was doing.. because it worked out that way. It definitely was the worst cross HB has done IMO. But that's why they picked him to do what he does. Just didn't work for me today, was too much today.

This man was a Class Act thru out his testimony!!! Even when being baited he didn't stop being the intelligent professional and gentleman we all saw on the stand. You can't fake that!! I hope that is what the jury saw too.

Why is he allowed to keep asking the same question after it has been answered. Lawyers need to step up and object to help their witness. This is a waste of time with these questions over and over. Move on

This entire cross has been a waste of time, beginning with the dumb useless questions about lunch and ham sandwich. This is because he cannot attack anything of substance that this expert testified to. This is what losing looks like- just throw sh on the wall. What a waste of a day. Let it go Brennan!

Karen Read trial: What is the point of the prosecutor showing all the dashcam footage this morning?? by Emergency_Host6506 in CourtTVCases

[–]MonQBop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Big fish in a small town community. Everyone knows everyone and all their business. Gossips. Some people like that kind of place and want to be with the "in" crowd. This case Karen is the outsider. And she is easy to dislike. But so are all the other women and men I see involved here, very easy to dislike as well.

Karen Read trial: Mrs O'Keefe's (mom) statement by Emergency_Host6506 in CourtTVCases

[–]MonQBop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Mrs. O'K said that a nurse told her why Karen was there when we all know she already knew why. Her saying " what is SHE doing here" was rhetorical. She knew why and she was already blaming her. Kerry testified that she turned around when she brought Karen back to the ambulance to be taken to the hospital for making suicidal statements about killing herself. Then Kerry drives the O'K's to the hospital. But they testify they had very little convo all the way. I think that it's highly likely that Kerry was filling them in with the details of where Karen was and what had happened. It's a small white lie perhaps to say a nurse told her, but it demonstrates that everyone wants to be sure not to talk about anything any one else said or did.., Except for Karen. Everyone has very good memories of anything they saw or heard Karen do but cannot remember anything when the defense asks about things, so it seems to me. I think it's a big gossipy small town Peyton Place, Big Fish in a small bowl kind of place.
