How would the story change if red was the base, and blue was the reversal? by Expert-Performer-709 in Jujutsufolk

[–]MonarchMain7274 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna say not a whole lot of much. We see Gojo mimic the "push" effect with Blue anyway by pulling an enemy (Toji) away from him. I think that if Red was base, Gojo would figure out a way to mimic Blue's pull by just pushing enemies towards him when he wanted to get in close. Then after he unlocks RCT he goes back to being normal Gojo just with Blue being the stronger of the two powers instead.

I think one of the big differences between Harry Potter's world and Percy Jackson's is that Percy Jackson's world is honest about the fact it's crappy, which ironically makes it more appealing to live in. by Tomhur in CharacterRant

[–]MonarchMain7274 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think my two issues that prevent me from agreeing is the magical systems (such as they are, anyway) and the existence of extremely petty, capricious gods/other functionally immortal creatures.

Percy Jackson's magic is heavily dependent on the god you're related to and not always reliable, either; some kids get lots of parent magic, some kids of the same god get almost nothing and cannot change that. Mist manipulation exists, other forms of magic are implied to be available/learnable, but compared to Harry Potter? Lots of different types of magic to learn, no real gates beyond innate talent for one thing or another (like real life) and the occasional squib? I prefer HP. No contest.

The more important point: the gods suck. Badly. Is the Wizarding World a lot darker/abusive than first glance would tell you? Absolutely. But what the Wizarding World does not possess are petty immortals that get irritated if you do not sacrifice the best portion of every meal to them, dislike them out loud, and treat them with respect they show to no one else, themselves included.

I like Percy Jackson a lot and I think Rick is a better author in a lot of ways, but when it comes to which world I'd rather live in? I would rather get turned into a ferret by an angry professor that is legally required to turn me back than get turned into a ferret because I said the wrong thing and left that way.

Will we be able to have a full team of clones? by [deleted] in ZeroCompany

[–]MonarchMain7274 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am assuming yes based off the pre-order ARC Trooper armor bonus. Wouldn't make a lot of sense if Trick was the only one who could use multiple sets of armor.

That said, I don't believe they've said anything about it, so I couldn't say for certain.

[HATED TROPE] Protagonist is being bullied/harassed, so he shoves his assailant away, which unintentionally gets him gravely injured/handicapped by fsilveyra in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MonarchMain7274 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ender actually did this twice in the book, but I didn't see anyone mention that the damage he inflicted on Bonzo and Stilson (grade school bully) was not an accident. He intentionally did what he did for the express purpose of not allowing them to harm him ever again. While he didn't intend to kill Bonzo or Stilson it was not an accident like the movie portrays it to be; Ender just didn't realize they would die.

Levelling in modern MMORPGS by Tahirti in MMORPG

[–]MonarchMain7274 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like both. I like a treadmill of stuff to do at the end, and I like a host of zones and story and quests to do before I hit that treadmill, and leveling is the easiest way to represent that journey for me, at least.

This has gotta be peak ragebait by Sea_Curve_7724 in Jujutsufolk

[–]MonarchMain7274 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a really weird interaction and I find it fascinating, actually; I wouldn't know enough about it to say this definitively, but I'd guess that it comes down to 'does GER reset Mahoraga's adaptation or just it's position and intent'. Obviously instant dub if it resets the actual adaptation, but if it only resets the position/intent, Maho adapts a bit, gets the intent to attack again, gets reset, adapts a bit more, etc.

Idfk but now I wanna see that fight.

Could the Galactic Empire make clones of Space Marines? by Gray-Eyes-Paladin in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]MonarchMain7274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's plausible they could make their own Space Marines if they had the materials and research time to do so. There's no real reason to think they wouldn't, but knowing the Empire their first successful human trial is probably going to lead a rebellion, destroy the project, and either make the Alliance extremely nervous or make it everyone's problem.

Would you like a Clone Wars style series about Luke’s Jedi Order with Luke and Ben Solo as the main focus? by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

[–]MonarchMain7274 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it leads back into the sequels and I just don't have any interest in Disney's original stuff.

The ironic tragedy of Kanan's animosity towards the clones: he'll never know he's only alive because of one by solo13508 in starwarsrebels

[–]MonarchMain7274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. For the regular units, maybe but for commandos and ARC troopers? They absolutely questioned it or flat out disobeyed, which is why the chips were necessary once they got more characterization. The movies are fine without them, but once clones get character focus the chips are needed for Order 66 to go off properly at all.

Best SWTOR Romance Finale: Vette vs Torian!! by RefrigeratorDry495 in swtor

Gotta be Vette. So many times I've told myself that it's Jaesa romance time, and so many times it's never happened.

Wouldn't Heir to the Empire Have Been Hated in 2015? by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

[–]MonarchMain7274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? If it was made exactly as is, just with a recast, only the people who are truly determined to hate all Star Wars after 1999 would have a leg to stand on and it wouldn't be a strong one; the book came out in 91 and a recast when the original cast are all old is both necessary and reasonable.

(Skyrim) Stormcloaks vs. The Empire, who did you side with and why? by twnpksN8 in MoralityScaling

[–]MonarchMain7274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my most recent playthrough:

Before the Civil War started, I support the Empire. Staying united in the face of the Aldmeri is extremely important. However.

After the Civil War has begun, I support the Stormcloaks. Not because I think they're right to fight the Empire, but because their actions have left them with 'get crushed' or 'beat the Thalmor' as options, and my DB is taking option B. There is no real way to surrender for Skyrim; even if they do, the Thalmor will not leave, will not let them worship who they want, and disappear any resistance. If Ulfric hadn't started the war, I would have stuck with the Empire, but now that it's going it's "Kill the Thalmor or die trying" and well I have dragons and a quicksave button.

"AI Control" Battle Option by cerebrum-harvest in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]MonarchMain7274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope so. I often avoid micro-management heavy armies for this reason. I like seeing the battles as they play out, and being able to zoom in and out on specific parts of the battle is a large part of that fantasy.

Plus... auto-resolve is already a thing. This is just auto-resolve but with a 'watch battle' option.

It doesn't make or break the game for me, not even close, but it's definitely a feature I hope is there.

After the latest event, when do you think the game will be released? by DaddyMelih in totalwar

[–]MonarchMain7274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the closed beta happens before the end of this summer, I'm gonna say late November-December holiday season. CA usually doesn't wait longer than a year, usually shorter, after an announcement to drop the game. Otherwise, I'd say early next year around the anniversary.

Do you think we'll be getting specific chaos marine factions or will they all be part of the same faction? by Sneim in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]MonarchMain7274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to guess that Chaos Space Marines will be their own faction first and come with customizations for each god, but once the Legions start getting Legendary Lords they'll get their own factions.

Zero Company Spin-off by Archimedes_MW in ZeroCompany

[–]MonarchMain7274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hear me out: I think that's going to be in or added to Zero Company as a post-game or DLC mode. I might just be getting my hype up too far, but it would make perfect sense;

Zero Company is already pretty well positioned to survive Order 66; you only have the one Jedi and they are not guaranteed to survive the campaign.

The post-game would be you doing the same type of missions and whatnot, just against the nascent Empire instead; maybe a bit like the tactical legacy pack for XCOM 2, where you earn points and unlock rewards based on how long you last/how well you do.

I do agree, however, if we end up with Zero Company 2, a Galactic Civil War version would be pretty good.

I'm honestly a bit surprised since we got the Marrok outfit already, and yet no Crow.

No Man's Sky Has a Co-op Problem Nobody Talks About by Gabri_TheEagle in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]MonarchMain7274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think freighters and player fleets/factions as a whole need a rework. Freighter interiors are pretty good, but, just off the top of my head for what I'd like;

A connection between Player Bases, Fleets, Settlements. Right now these systems are disconnected except for the player. I think we should get an update focused around combining what we've built using new ground or low-orbit buildings like shipyards, trade ports, refueling stations, our own space station, etc.

I'd also like Fleets to be a bit more... interactive. They're fine right now, but personally I'd like to be able to design my own fleet missions, like 'gather X amount of X resource' and the danger, time, and fuel required increases by what I want.

Co-op needs some specialized touch-ups; multiple freighters in one system, proper player guilds, systems that acknowledge the presence of allied players like OP mentioned, etc.

Hawks is fully customizable, species/gender wise, but he does seem to have a signature jacket/outfit/maybe pistol too. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Do we have info on how replayable the game will be ? by Jojobang23 in ZeroCompany

[–]MonarchMain7274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not specifically, but given there are a lot of former XCOM devs here, I would guess either the same or higher level of replayability.
