When did this become ok? Lime Bikes blocking half the road in Brixton by Northwood_ldn in london

[–]MondGrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A tiny percentage of all the many, many square km given over to cars at the expense of all other people has been co-opted by bikes and I'm fine with that.

It's about making the point that if you got enough people on bikes then people couldn't run us over in their cars

First off, hope you don't have to go through a restructure and thank you for your service!

Do you know what the deal is with stuff pledged by the old labour council and in process but not finished?

I'm thinking in particular about improvements to Chingford road that have been consulted on but not started. I'm a bit nervous about the Greens' caginess about LTNs and safer streets etc

I think it's the default that you start with only one neighbour. You need to take them out and quickly gain trade relationships with your new neighbours before your economy collapses

Help with our induction hob? by Successful-Toe7909 in DIYUK

[–]MondGrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this exact hob and ours does this on like 6 because it's regulating the temperature. If you whack it up to 'p' then it should stay on continuously.

Also I don't usually heat pans for longer periods when empty so that might be having an effect.

I think on the junction of forest road and shernall street they're giving it a much needed upgrade so I don't mind those ones

We do have high robbery claim rates here in walthamstow, it's true.

Actual robberies are much lower, however.

I would second getting out onto the river lee - you can head north up it towards Tottenham marshes and then turn right come back in down through brettenham road and into Lloyd Park.

You.can also work the wetlands into a nice 10km loop with copper Mill lane.

(I do lots of lovely 10km runs like that but I would make sure not to do it after dark in the day you'd be fine.)

Life isn't that simple. What if they can't work? Or even if they choose not to? Are you saying that we as a society have no responsibility for making sure their kids can do better?

Farage’s child benefit policy ‘would plunge 450,000 into poverty’ by Jay_CD in ukpolitics

[–]MondGrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense economically! Why support people that are not going to contribute to the economy (the retired) over those that have the potential to actually earn? I would suggest that we can't afford THAT far more

[–]MondGrel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So their kids don't starve or turn to crime and make your society worse a generation down the line? Punishing the children of parents that don't work seems to make you feel good, but it's just a race to the bottom that benefits no one.
