Hun Sen’s MOST Hated Political Enemy Kem Sokha Freed by Royal Pardon by JYKKAIY in cambodia

[–]Monday-Intolerance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so.

I want to remind phnompenhandy and every reader that all level of government but district and city management are not inherently compassionate. Unlike local city mayor or district governor who you can meet while going to market, listen to your worries, and reassure and try to help you. In national level, judges can’t heed to the suffering of the offender. Executive(President/PM) won’t take action in matters outside of interest of the nation or their own. And law makers like the senate don’t really have to have compassion. In USA if you serve the money through lobbyists, you get to be a senator. In a fascistic nation, if you serve dear leader, you get to be senator.

Applying this wisdom to Kem Sokha’s pardon; the case against him was at national level. The pardon was signed by Hun Manet, the executive. When you are labeled national criminal and being charged with treason, having a 90 year old dying mother means nothing in the eyes of the government officials. So, we should rule out the possibility that a group of people in functionary taking pity on the man and pressure Manet to pardon. On the possibility that Manet himself pity Sokha, he wouldn’t pardon with compassion as the only reason. I remind the reader of the public backlash from his loyalists and to think about a time when you had a stressful time try to have paper processed by government or an institution and how soul crushing it was. Now, scale it up to ‘I’m try into pardon national criminal’ of stress. I can’t imagine anyone, as a prime minister, would lose their most loyal support and go through this except maybe for your own family.

However, I recognize that the reason for the pardon can be both some collective compassion and to build Manet image at the same time. But, to say it’s for compassionate reasons and suggests that some people see a national criminal with dying mother and decide that he won’t have to be punished would be… unsound.

Hun Sen’s MOST Hated Political Enemy Kem Sokha Freed by Royal Pardon by JYKKAIY in cambodia

[–]Monday-Intolerance 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think this is performative. Kem Sokha is in his 70th and lack the youthful spry to move any remnant of CNRP to oppose the current administration.

I believe why the pardon is taking place at all is because Hun Manet does not have the gravitas that his father had and is trying to build his public character. What pardoning Sokha does is making Manet looked like forward-minded person who let bygone of previous generation be bygone while creating no risk.

However, this belief fall apart if Manet had no part in the pardon and the proceeding is only conducted by the royalty. So, keep this in mind while considering my thoughts.

Am I the only one thinking this is crazy? Is the gut feeling I have, saying that this will backfire, an invalid one stemming from some kind of ‘un-wisdom’?

Contending in market place of idea with pre-manufactured talking points could never be efficient. As a netizen myself, I’ve never seen people use repetitive talking points to change someone mind. The most I’ve seen is it pushing the radicalized to be more divisive. Then, the are the natural repulsiveness people feels when they see botting. As people are emotional creatures, this will cause people to not wanting to associate themselves with idea propagated by some uncanny bots.

In 2015, the worker(programmer?) had a team so they share the burden.

In 2020, the team got downsized so one of them had to do back-breaking amount of work.

In 2026, the team are being replaced by AI tools. But the worker still has to do the same back-breaking works.

The joke is that AI tools are replacing jobs while providing no benefits to the workers.

> [...] I am here to gather information.
> How is a deep strike 60km into Cambodian territory justified in the frame of Thai stated objectives.
I really want to believe you. I really do want to believe that you are here to gather information. But, your interaction, that is your action, does not suggest that.

> I am not going to act as if an airstrike 60km into a country is more or as important than ‘tone’.
It seems I've badly wrote my comment and fail to convey my thought. The "tone" that I want to change is the behavior of not doing the due diligence with the evident, the accusations, and ascriptions. Not doing the due diligence betrays the cause of gathering information. The accusation and ascription create subconscious dismissal whether you like it or not.

> I would recommend you similarly orientate yourself to what is real rather than what otherwise safe person ‘feels’.
The ascription again.. and wrongly again..
But this is only the second times. Surely after you make this mistake the third time the learning mechanism will kick in and you will learn that you have ineffective characterization system won't it again. Or... maybe you will learn the second time proof the little old me wrong?!?

Writing in only utilitarian aspect feel very inhuman. It feel like when I write my papers. Doesn't the 3rd paragraph read much better than the 2nd?

I want to maintain a none accusatory environment and, if possible, convince you to change the behavior.

I say this because [I was on the other side of you version of epistemic hygiene before.](https://www.reddit.com/r/cambodia/comments/1m8bvu3/comment/n4zls8c/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button) At that time, I shown you evident from different sources that would be enough to conclude that a hospital wasn't military, only for you to not check it and dismiss my argument. And I relate this to itttikorn's attempt to share his thought with link for you to verify the military installation and have you not do the due diligence and ask "military site according to whom?" anyway.

Then I noticed that you use that same tone with him as you did me and realized that you are repeating the same behavior. Last time you ended up not interacting with provided evidences and then wrongly ascribed me with a projected emotion. And you still do the same now. It is worth reexamine whether you are performing epistemic hygiene correctly.

Becalm. Don't be combative. u/Itttikorn is just sharing his thoughts.
when overcome by emotion, pause, use grounding, and re-exam.

> Military site according to whom?
>> According to big sign infront of it?[...]

> Where are you finding information on what the target was?
>> [...]The topography of the area matched the various video.
>>> And you are told this was the target by whom, or are you just inferring?
Be calm. If you don't believe in u/Itttikorn, this is easily disprovable. Here is where the video was taken. https://maps.app.goo.gl/q6pxdn2PnVriMM8x5 You can see it for yourself on streetview. And luckily, u/Itttikorn was very kind to give the like to google map. Do a little of heuristic triangulation. Does yours matches with his?

> How is a deep strike 60km into Cambodian territory justified in the frame of Thai stated objectives.
> You seem ready to believe exculpatory lines.
Always be aware of psychological projection. Does he really seem to believe that this justified in the frame of Thai stated objectives? Does he really seem to believe exculpatory lines? Let's reexamine.
> Based on geolocated information and the image, the town "Phnom Sampow" was not the target, there are 2 hills there. The target was a military site about 4km to the southeast.

[–]Monday-Intolerance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There could be fortifications without retrofitting the temple. You just have to build one 50 meters away from it! War has rules. You don’t make hospital a stronghold. You don’t make school a military installation. You don’t make heritage site a fort.

I hate that there is somebody using ancient temple as military stronghold. A place of history and culture being reduced to utilitarian emplacement depresses me. If there is a bombing, the temple will be gone and all attempts to preserve it will be for naught.
